amaysim: $9 Cashback on $18 Prepaid Mobile 80GB 28-Day SIM (Was $40) @ Cashrewards

250

Equates to $9 after cashback.

Posting this because it can be activated on the 365 Day "Pay As You Go" Plan & will give you $40 credit.

For clarification this is the $40 80GB starter pack which is on sale for $18 if you activate on the 28 day plan, but when you order it's best to say you're porting even if you aren't. This avoids the sim coming already activated on that plan, then when it arrives you can activate on the PAYG plan online.

The PAYG plan is handy if you want to park your number or need a phone for mainly receiving calls with data turned off.
Also Amaysim works overseas for receiving SMS (please comment on your experience with this).

Pay As You Go Plan Features

  • Credit lasts for 365 days
  • 12c / min standard calls to mobile & landlines
  • 12c / standard SMS
  • 5c / MB data (no data included, it's a PAYG plan)
  • 29c/min calls to 13 numbers, free calls to 18 numbers in Australia
  • 12c/min voicemail retrieval
  • Optus 4G Network with VoLTE
  • No lock-in contract
  • Bring your number or pick a new one

SIM must be activated within 20 days of purchase. Failure to do so will result in cashback being declined.
Eligible for new & existing amaysim customers on purchase of a new service (SIM).

Also Amaysim works overseas for receiving SMS (please comment on your experience with this).

Been doing this for about 6 years and can confirm it works very well

  • Can this be used on the $60 12m expiry unlimited calls/texts (just need to pay the $20 difference)?

    • which one is that?

      • This one if you're wondering. Needs an active service I believe, and no data.

    • +1

      Yes you can.

Edit: read a few comments below where these might not be able to be used for the PAYG plan.

Promo code (MAPR) is automatically getting added to the cart to get the price ($18.00). Will this void cashback as it's not listed on CR website under amaysim?

    • +2

It says so in Cashrewards' terms, "codes that auto-apply on amaysim's website at checkout are eligible".

These are slightly different to the packs bought from store. The as you go option doesn’t show up during activation, had to go on chat to ask it to be done. The rep had to cancel the original plan renewal to make it as you go and I was out of 2¢ for some reason. This was two days ago on a $30 pack bought from CR. Not sure if they are intended to be used this way.

    • Thanks for the feedback, I posted this in December & it was popular but so far you're the only one to say this.

      • Np, it’s not a popular journey because people usually buy when the cr is good enough, not to park a number. Just be aware of this possibility in case it’s not an isolated incident.

The deal I bought it from is this one https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/833281

        • Did you get the cashback?
I also can't see how you can activate these SIM on PAYG without asking a Rep to manually change the plan.

          • @jackofspade: Yes, I withdrew it on 19/3/24.

These are probably second class packets that don’t have a lot of room.

  • Can the $40 credit be used to pay for the following year's PAYG plan?

    • It's a sim starter pack, there is no recharge voucher.

  • "SIM must be activated within 20 days of purchase"

Soon it'll be on the day it arrives in your letterbox.

    • If you order the pack from Amaysim with number… it's activated before they post.

  • Can you do this on an esim?

Ive been looking at the $10 plan for 365 for moving overseas, but worried as it comes with no data

    • Can you do this on an esim?

      Yes

Ive been looking at the $10 plan for 365 for moving overseas, but worried as it comes with no data

Why do you need data (in Aus) if you're overseas?

edit: Or do you mean you'll be jumping back and forth and you want a bit of data for when you come back to Aus?

      • May be:

        1. To park his number.

        2. Access to sms for login codes e.g. mygov etc. as people said its sms works overseas.

        • +1

But you don't need data for either..

          • @illumination: Sorry…..If you are on a phone with only one SIM, you need SMS for the code and data to access e.g. mygov assuming the internet works overseas. Otherwise you have another set of problems.

Your second point might be true to.

  • What's tracking for amaysim like? Purchased yesterday afternoon but has not tracked yet. The click has been registered.

  • Unlike all my previous sim cards, amaysim did not work for receiving sms while overseas initially. There was some setting i had to tweak in their app before it started to work.

    • +1

"International roaming" you mean? Yea that needs to be on

  • I'm on a different Amaysim 28 day plan atm. Can I still buy this and apply it before my existing plan auto-renews? Or should I switch to the 365 day play and then purchase this offer?

    • After my knowledge you need to port over to another service provider and then port back. However I'm not sure how many days you have to wait until you port back.

  • has anyone confirmed if amaysim supports wi-fi calling from overseas? e.g. you are overseas but using wi-fi, and you're able to call australian numbers @ 12c/min as if you were still in australia?

  • Is there a restriction on the number you can order?

  • When will this track? Purchased about 21 hours ago and still does not show up.

    • Never tracked for me. Had to open a case with CR and provide them with copies of emails from amaysim and the invoice.

Is the shopback deal better? $28 cash back on 80gb sim plan which is only $18?

    • Or, is THIS shopback deal betterER? $35 cash back on 120gb ($50) sim plan which is only $25?
