Big Smile Day Deal ⚡️ Only 63 cents more than the historical low. Description stolen from @scrimshaw:

The ASUS RT-AX1800s (2022) is a cost reduced version of the older 2020 RT-AX55 and has a weaker processor. That's right: shrinkflation affects networking hardware too. If you happen to have the RT-AX55, then you should hang onto that, but for anyone else looking for a low-cost router or need to expand their existing AI Mesh network, this is a slightly cheaper & more secure option than the outgoing RT-AX56U which is no longer supported by ASUS.

  • it be raining asus routers on ozbargin today :D

  • mmm how is this as a aimesh node? I've got a AX86U (non pro) as a main router and 2x AX92U's as nodes, but been thinking about one more node to round out the back of the house a bit more.

    • How far does the 5ghz signal travel from your 86U?

  • Is it worth upgrading from TP-Link Archer 1200 to AX1800 :(

  • -5

    Any gpu deals?

  • Can any of the Ozb guru's refer me to a functional FTTN modem/router combo - I have recently had endless issues with my provider supplied unit, which now seems to want to default to VLAN on everytime it drops connection, which then results in failure to reconnect/authenticate. According to the provider, this is a problem at my end (their modem not connecting to their network)

    • +1

best advice change provider if it's one of the usual suspects like TPG etc

      • Yes a TPG company - how did you know!

        • not hard to guess they're renowned, do yourself a favour & move to ABB or superloop or the likes (likely cheaper with an intro deal) you are probably using something like a TP Link VR1600 modem router which can be configured to work & their tech help or a google search can give you the settings

  • ok for the money but isn't this just a stripped out AX55 with a cheaper processor?

    • +5

This model is still receiving firmware updates unlike the AX55, but yes, you're correct. I've updated the post to reflect this.

  • Is it worth to upgrade from Telstra smart wifi 2?

    • +3

      No.

        Thanks mate

  • This or the gl.net flint?

  • Is this work with any providers?
    Easy set up myself?

  • +2

Probably a dumb question. But what does a weaker processor mean for a router?

  • Is it worth upgrading from Archer Vr900 AC1900?

  • Is this better than the ZTE modem Superloop provides? Thanks

  • 89 at msy but this router has mixed reviews
