I went to the Van Gogh and Monet Lume exhibitions. 0 interest to see the new slide show in the exact same space for $40+pp. I wonder how long it'll be until they run out of famous artists to cycle through.

It's been a fad across the world.

    • +2

Did monet and van gogh, it certainly started to get stale.

    • +1

van gogh was actually pretty good.

      monet is so-so

Saw the Van Gogh exhibit too, got bored pretty quickly. "Slideshow" does sum it up nicely. Not tempted to go to this.

    • Thank you for saving me the hassle of wasting my time going there: I thought they'd have originals of his in the exhibition 🤔

I'm waiting for the Wonka Experience

Just personal taste really but I'd rather go see Dune 2 the second time. Fantastic movie and at least I'm seeing the REAL version and not just an italic exact 360° replica of the world's most famous portrait, and peel back its layers to reveal discoveries more than 15 years in the making.

I wish Adelaide kept their IMAX. I'd probably see ever Hollywood IMAX movie on it.

      • No one told me that the nearest seats to the screen at IMAX Melbourne Museum was so bad though…

        • certainly gives one eye-max…

        • +1

Oh I remember sitting there. I had a sore neck the whole night

        • +1

          No one told me

It's a given, at any cinema of any type.

          • +1

@pizzaguy: Aye but at IMAX it's just worse. Like much worse. Far back is where it's at.

      • yeah…imax bad unless back row

I watched The Lost Leonardo on Netflix the other week. It was very interesting to see the art world 'behind the curtain'.

how is victoria still able to afford events isn't the state broke?

    • +1

I assume this is a private enterprise

  • +3

Better off wandering around the NGV for free and seeing some original works no?

  • +5

These events are always pictured with just one or two people walking around. But in reality, each one I've been to has been completely packed. Only way they can make money, I suppose, but it really is nothing like it's portrayed.

  • Went to the Monet one with the kids. One giant relatively empty room with slide show on ground, floor and roof. Not much for kids to do. Not again.

    Spend your $104 elsewhere.

  • Having been to the current Indigenous exhibition, I highly rate it.
If you have never been, go to any of them and enjoy your time.

An hour or so worth of time spent inside.

Decent ticket revenues all for a slide show! What a lucrative business.

    • There's a famous PT Barnum quote that explains it…

  • +2

I went to this last year, money is better spent pretty much anywhere else. It's such a giant waste of space, the projector set up and area could have amazing space themed shows or even animated things like Toy Story, Bluey etc - Like you could so so much interesting and cool stuff……but instead it's used to have rolling slideshows of pictures

  • What time do they open until on Sundays?
