Just a reminder that it means it’s free for the business’ “lifetime”.

    • Hi,

We are in the market since 2016 and continuously improving our service. Our Lifetime plan has no expiry.

  • +1

Never ever trust a so called "lifetime" plan. Most tend to only last a few years.

    • Hi @edfoo

There is no expiry of Lifetime account. The one who have purchased our lifetime account back in 2016 is still our family.

    • Gee those people paying $2 a year since 2016 must hate themselves

    • +1

Laughs in people who got in on the Windscribe free lifetime deal.

      • Damn, was there a lifetime windscribe deal? Hand on, who?

        • -1

It got rescinded last year, I had an account

          • @Meconium: I still have my lifetime winscribe account 7 years in. It has expiry date, 10 years from purchase date, but their website says that it auto-extends after 10 years if account is still active.

  • I have the lifetime subscription from last deal. Unfortunately I had to swap to ExpressVPN as it appears that fastestvpn are blacklisted on the nodebrid site making it only good for browsing etc. May not matter to most. Fastestvpn connections for everything but nodebrid I would recommend them.

    • +1

What is nodebrid if I can ask?

      • I said no debrid… meaning real debrid.
        Sorry for the misunderstanding.

        • -2

You “meant” no debrid cuz you clearly wrote nodebrid… twice!!!
Also to be technical we’re communicating in writing… so… we did not hear you either for you to ‘say’ it

        • Ah I probably should have realised that lol. Appreciate it

Providing a VPN service requires ongoing costs. Providing lifetime access for a fixed price is simply not sustainable.

I will never waste a cent on a company that promises such services.

Quick Google found an example of past “lifetime” customers claiming to have to pay more after their initial purchase to get basic Wireguard

      Hi @PainToad

We have not discontinued any lifetime plans. Users who purchased our Lifetime plan until 2021 will retain access to the same servers and features available up to that point, having secured their plan for a mere $16. Recognizing the evolution in our service and the introduction of advanced features in response to customer demand, we have adjusted the Lifetime account price to USD 40.

In consideration of our loyal existing customers, we present them with an option: they can either continue with their existing plan or, for a supplementary $20, avail themselves of the newly introduced advanced features. This approach acknowledges our commitment to providing enhanced services while accommodating the practicalities of evolving costs.

      • So it wasn’t a lifetime plan they purchased. Technically they purchased a 5 year plan! Still good though. I dig that. Nothing wrong with a 5-year plan.
I’m happy to pay $20 in 5 years or $40 to get an upgrade

    • They paid lifetime for a plan that was around for that price. They don’t have to use wireguard! But for those who purchased back in 2016, at $2 a year to date, wire guard or not, that’s brilliant

      • -1

Great. Still doesn’t explain how a company plans to offer a service that requires ongoing expenses for a once off fixed price?

Would you trust a petrol station selling unlimited petrol for life for a single once off fee of $1000? It’s the same thing.

        • +1

I can’t answer that question as I don’t know what other businesses or enterprises this company has got going to fund itself.

But there are decades of ideas like this, and if I was a servo back in the day I may have offered a once off fee for $1000 and incorporated say free tyre check or oil check and used that to on sell products.

Tesla did it, buy our car for a once off fee and unlimited charging for the life of the car. Right up until their business line was making enough money and people buying cars that they stopped, knowing that people are reeled in.

Nothing to say that this company won’t come out with FYI a new kind of PC, or Gaming console, but again I’m just speculating as I don’t know what other fingers they have in other pies, and I would say, not do you!

  • Is there a list of where the servers locations are ?

  • Hi Ozbargain Users,
I have been a FastestVPN user since 2018 or so when I got it on BlackFriday sale! While I cant say they have the fastest VPN service when compared to the top dogs, they have a strong set of features and would say very good value for money.
    Pros from Personal Experience:
They have good customer service happy to help and walk through the issues.
They have made constant updates to the system to find work around to sites blocking or catching VPNs out
They have Expanded Server List over the years, which is always a pro.

  • look even if they go broke in >2 years this isnt a bad deal

im on the WVPN $10 USD per year deal from the Free deal i got years ago but this is pretty good for those that dont have a VPN

  • 15 logins? Anybody want to share? Say, 5 devices ea.

  • Just as a heads-up to any late comers… I grabbed this to try. First problem I struck was it won't allow a PC to go into sleep when it's connected. (other VPNs do)
As for Wireguard, it claims it includes it, but every time I tried to enable wireguard I was told it "wasn't available on this server". I didn't try every server, but I tried a lot.
I was also unable to disable the ad-blocker. I was also unable to activate the killswitch.
I didn't find out what the problem was there, I asked for a refund.

    • Now that's dodgy.
My request for a refund was ignored. We're supposed to have 31 days satisfaction guarantee.

The reply I did get asked me to remove the app and install it from exactly the same place.

    • Hi @killergreely

It is impossible that you are getting error "WireGuard unavailable on the server" Please share the image here so that everyone can see it. WireGuard is enabled and there is no permission requirements.

We have almost 1Million customers and we haven't received such type of issues.

I am available on the chat, please contact to our support and if there will be any issue I'll refund your money immediately.

    • Also, there is no problem going PC to sleep while connected to our VPN server. Check your PC setting.

We did a test, set a sleep timer to 2 mins and our desktop went for sleep normally.

  • Hi @adammiller12 are you still offering free account as per description as your chat support Trevor Holmes seems to be not aware of it? I wanna test speeds and content access that's geoblocked before I make a purchase. thanks

    • @adammiller12 - happy to the pay $0.99 USD for a 'free' account for testing speeds and geoblocked content access but as we are based in OZ - international transaction fee + shitty exchange rate by the bank makes me think it should go with the pros cop those fees there.

      https://fastestvpn.com/vpn-free-trial

      Cheers

  • 5MB/s really isn't the 'fasestvpn', false advertising and they're refusing to refund…
