A decent value after the amaysim 365day pay as you, and then Aldi $5+$15 recharge, and may be vodafone $30 prepaid plan also.
Telstra does not offer any pay as you go plan by default nor any longer expiry cheaper plan than this directly.

Personally have not much idea for much extra value this has over other Pay as you plans, but if you like to buy directly from telstra may be a good idea ???
This can be combined with any $35 prepaid starter kits from store like currently $17 at Officeworks and Woolworths allowing you to get the PrePaid Casual mobile plan with 6 month expiry for only $17 for this week. As OW and Woolies currently got a special for it.
What is the use case for a sim service like this? Like you said Amaysim triumphs this deal by being only $10 for 365 days validity.
The international minutes is interesting but if you are going to pay $35 every 6 months then you may as well just use amaysim international calls/sms

So it potentially ranks 4th in terms of PAYG mobile service?
