Was shopping around for a colour laser MFC. According to previous deals on here and some commentary on Whirlpool it seems the Brother MFC-L8690CDW is pretty decent + you can use after market toners. Price beat at Office Works gets it down to $601.
Brother MFC-L8690CDW Colour Laser MFC $588.48 + $45 Delivery @ Printer Supermarket (Price Beat $601.80 @ Officeworks)

Great MFC, but it’s big.
Just make sure you don’t update firmware regularly - aftermarket toners play catchup with new firmware and updates may brick your no name tonersI need a colour laser that takes 200ish g/m2 card stock. Most Brother lasers seems to go to 162gsm max, can anyone recommend a printer that handles heavier card?
"you can use after market toners"
Yes, you can, just be aware I was told at the Brother booth at the Leader expo there will ilkely be warranty issues if the toner is then found to have caused an issue that damages the printer.
My advice?
Genuine until the warranty runs out then go for it.
The starter cartridges still have plenty of toner in them even after the printer says they're exhausted.
Reset them and keep printing - I ended up getting double before needing to replace them (with non-genuine cartridges)!
YMMV.
seems this is expired, price shows as: $637.96 Inc. GST
guess, will wait around for another dip or when MFC-L8900 price drops
Wish I got this over my current mfc with no duplex scanning
