If you have comprehensive insurance you can add the windscreen protection for around $50-$60 per year which gives you one replacement windscreen a year without affecting your premium and with no excess.
If you are outside Frankston are, don't hesitate to call to see if your area is included.
Kit on it's own from Supercheap is $35 and you have to do it yourself, so maybe not too bad (although the kit can do many and lasts 6 months, although really it's not likely to be used a second time).
