In search of deals, to The Good Guys I go,
Hoping for bargains that make my wallet glow.
But alas, the prices, they leave me in dismay,
Even upsized cashback can't save the day.

With eager eyes, I scan each aisle and shelf,
But the discounts offered, they hardly help.
My hopes of savings slowly start to fade,
As I realize the bargains have all been played.

In vain, I search for that perfect steal,
But it seems elusive, like a spinning wheel.
No matter the effort, no matter how hard I try,
The prices remain high, reaching for the sky.

So I bid adieu to The Good Guys' store,
Knowing I'll search again, just like before.
For in the hunt for savings, I'll always strive,
Even when the prices don't let me thrive.

I stopped reading at "don't let me thrive"

This poem captures the frustrating experience of seeking deals at The Good Guys, only to be disappointed by high prices and inadequate discounts. Despite the effort put into searching for bargains, the outcome remains unsatisfactory, leaving the speaker resigned to continue their quest elsewhere.

  • Looking for a microwave and washing machine. Anything anyone can recommend to take advantage of this cashback? Thanks.

    • +1

I prefer the flatbed microwaves (Panasonic mostly), rather than the ones with the spinning plate inside.

    • +8

Get the most expensive Bosch washing machine you can afford

    • Ended up getting this Westinghouse for about $900 including delivery.

      https://www.thegoodguys.com.au/westinghouse-9kg-front-load-w…

Price beat function discounted it by $10 and it tracked for those that were unsure like I was.

Price beat function discounted it by $10 and it tracked for those that were unsure like I was.

It tracking is just recognising that a purchase was made when you clicked through the site. It doesn't mean it will be approved. For the sake of $10 that's a risky move considering it could be classed a "negotiated offer" - and yes, SB only listed examples not an exhaustive list.

      • I'm after a washing machine. Any particular reason you chose this one?

        • Had a lot of good reviews and not a whole lot of negative so just went for it. I was originally going to get a bosh but this price suited. It's also about $100 cheaper then other retailers so feels more like a bargain I guess lol.

    • 2 days ago grabbed the 25L LG neochef 199 on sale from 249 - combined with the student discount to get it for $165

  • +12

Is the "price check: pay less with price beat" eligible for Cashback ?

    • +4

Want to know that too because it automatically gets applied so a bit of a joke if it isn't eligible for Cashback.

    • +1

      @gotyourback can you please confirm?

      • +2

Per previous advice and comments I've made on this one - provided the price isn't negotiated over the phone or via any external link, any auto-applied discount should be fine.

    • I used it and it tracked. Received the following:

      Hi there!

ShopBack has successfully registered your recent transaction and we're tracking your Cashback.
Your Cashback should show up in your account as Pending.

      • +1

Tracking is one thing but question is whether it will be paid out.

Not the exact same thing of course - but I previously tried using a gift card and it tracked the full amount with a 3-4 month wait for payout.

Then close to the end it changed to $0 ….. when I enquired with ShopBack I was told that because a gift card was used for purchase I was ineligible for Cashback

        • Ah that would suck to lose out on $100 plus just to save $10. Definitely want to grab confirmation from shop back now.

  • +1

Worth waiting for an exclusive TCL 845 65inch deal or take advantage of current price of $1695 with 18 % cashback (comes to $1420 after cashback) ?

    • +1

1420 is a good price. I bought that TV @ $1500, no regrets but I personally hate trusting cashback as a given for large amounts in case it doesn't go through etc

    • +1

Was down as low as $1250 during Black Friday sales if that matters to you

  • +1

Does the price check/price beat on TGG's website affect cashback?

    • +1

Negotiated offers (for example through live chat and the on the phone/ Deals with a Sales Rep )

      Taking that as a no

  • +2

And the ultinate giftcards live another day

    • Are you sure?

      • Until they sort out Apple
        Yep

        • Thanks, in order to do that the value of ultimate card needs to cover the full price, right?

            • @Drakesy: We can only use one card, right? We can't split the payment.
Sorry I haven't done this before.

              • +1

@noodlefan: An Ultimate gift card is used as a VISA card on TGG, nothing different from a standard credit card.

                • @Neoika: Thanks 👍👍👍

                • @Neoika: Does that mean it's eligible for cashback of you use ultimate gift cards?

  • i'm looking for a 420L fridge, will it be eligible for 18% cashback?

    • +2

Don't see why not as long as it's not one of the excluded brands. I'm thinking about buying all my white goods now. Just need to know whether the automatic pricebeat function makes in ineligible.

    • +1

      Excludes: 420L fridges

      421 should be fine

  • Ahh man I wanted a FFalcon

  • +1

Does it work with good guys commercial

  • +1

Is PlayStation VR included in this offer?

  • Anyone know how, where, when to get a discounted Miele dishwasher?

    • +1

Yes. You can get store display models at 30% or more off through the MO with full warranty. Though demand is usually high and its a first in type deal.

Also if you are a current Miele owner try and join the invite only MFL program.

    • Offer crappy discounts to builders so why would they discount the general public

Also it's direct ship if you didn't know. Retailers don't handle.

That isn't to say you could get a defect, store demo or use the outlet for a deal.

  • Toshiba TVs seem to be on sale, anyone comment on their TVs?

Looking for a 50”+ to replace a recently busted Samsung and don’t know anything about TVs these days.

    PS portal?

  • I'm looking at getting a split system including installation through the good guys. I don't see the terms excluding installation cost. Has anyone had experience with installation cost being eligible for cashback?

Edit: NVM. I see home services is 0%

    • Hello,

Did you find a good one or recommend any? I’m looking for a split system too, 6-7kw but don’t see many choices?

      Thanks

      • I didn't end up getting one. I was looking at the smaller Hisense 2.5kw unit. A quick Google search showed other retailers were close on price without relying on cashbacks

  • +1

Does this work on Microsoft surface laptops ?

    • +1

I believe so, it’s not part of the exclusions

  • +1

Excellent! I need to buy some home security cameras as I was just burgled 🤬

Eufy? Arlo? I have no idea, but this is welcome.

    • +2

PoE or wireless? Have you checked reolink?
Not in TGG but probably will be way cheaper than eufy or arlo even after the cashback

    • Just bought a c210, excellent product

    • wyze cam v3 indoors, cam v3 pro outdoors via Amazon. US company. Traffic is limited to US, as opposed to most of the other brands owned by a certain non-democratic country.

  • Are the gift cards eligible for the cashback?

  • Does any of you actually received or your referral link clicked on shopback posts?

I made 2 purchases, one for $3000 and one for $200. Of course the one for $3000 doesn’t track

    • +3

      This is the way

    • How long before it tracks? I ordered last night and still haven't received the email (click and collect though)

      • I re-ordered through the ShopBack app and it tracked within 20 mins

  • Any recommendations for a microwave and kettle and toaster?

Was thinking of getting this Panasonic microwave for $300

    https://www.thegoodguys.com.au/panasonic-32l-1100w-microwave…

    • I’m thinking of https://www.thegoodguys.com.au/sharp-32l-1200w-flatbed-micro…
      As it’s flatbed

      Panasonic one doesn’t have a 32L flatbed. Only 27

    • I recommend a flatbed microwave, ones from Panasonic are good.

    • +2

wouldn't recommend panasonic to be honest. have had 2 of these in the last 5 years die on me. repair / warranty claims have been tedious and time-consuming too.

  • +3

    No Quest 3, sad.

  • Tracked but at basic rate of 2%

Makes the Dyson Gen 5 Absolute I believe the cheapest yet. Select price beat to get it to $984 then shop back off that

    https://www.thegoodguys.com.au/dyson-gen5detect-absolute-cor…

    • I grabbed one! I hope the Cashback works. I’d been waiting for some 10% JB gift cards to come up.

    • My discount tracked, so great buy for $822!

      • Did it track after you did the price beat? I thought price beat usually negates the Cashback.

I’m very tempted to pull trigger too but always wary about Cashback actually tracking.

        • Yes, I got pricebeat and then got an email saying $162,66 had been tracked.

      • $822? Wouldn't it be $815 with 18% off. And even less if you got the price beat as well.

        • Cashback was $162.66, so not really 18%.

          • +1

            @LXE3: GST component excluded.

        • Interestingly I just checked HN. It’s listed for $977 which means this online PriceBeat doesn’t work. All it does is take a random $10 off?

          https://www.harveynorman.com.au/dyson-gen5detecttm-absolute-…

          • @jason2615: Yeah, I noticed that too as I’ve been watching prices but the cash back still made it way less than the cheapest I could buy it elsewhere.

    • +2

I keep on going to buy a Dyson then just getting overwhelmed by all the different SKUs/variants so just give up. They really need to have a comparison table on their site like Apple does so it's clear which ones gave which features.
