Cardbot has them at $29.99 if you can pick up at Tullamarine VIC
Or free shipping with orders over $150

    I've ordered off cardbot before.
    Shipped well packaged and fast.

And to those of you thinking of "investing" potential, these have basically none.
They're aimed at people who want to actually play the tcg.

    • Cheers, Added to the bottom of the post

    • Seems like a good deal. My kids enjoy playing TCG, any other sets you can recommend? They already have the starter set with the Pikachu, Cinderace and Evee decks

If your kids are just enjoying playing, most of the sets with decks and a booster or a few are perfect.

Pokemon tcg is in a good place now for both pros and newer players, especially when compared to a year or two ago.

But, I'd honestly just keep an eye out on stuff that is up for clearance.
Especially if you live near or in a major city, as a lot of businesses in cities do regular clearances, but the delivery kills the deal. So if you can pick up in store, then you can snag some great deals.

I'll see what I can find for you when I'm up at my computer.

Depends on what your kids want.

If it's tournament then they will need to get something similar to a meta deck. Chien pao battle deck would potentially be a good one to pick up as its still pretty strong in the meta. $15 at big w as a starting point is not a bad idea.

Miraidon league battle deck is a lot pricier which is also in the meta.

I would recommend playing on the app as your kids get access to around 8 decks (all pretty solid) for free and a new free deck every season. That way they can play through a variety to find a style they like. If they don't want to play online, your kids can add each other as friends and just play.

If it's more about avoiding screen time and not for tournament, I would recommend the championship decks. They are $30 each which are replica decks of tournament winners. But because they are official replica decks, it can't be played in tournaments.

The 2023 championship decks will be out in march and $30

  • Seems like good value? Even calculating booster packs at the OzB rate of $4/ea, you've got $16 from boosters, the VSTAR is worth between $8-$18, and the V at $5-$7. Plus the 56 trainer cards at about $6 (but much more useful than a random bulk trainer pack of the same quantity) and the sleeves at $2.

    • Open to other suggestions for playing not collecting

      • From your other comment I assume your kids have this set. Which is perfectly fine and functional but lacking options. Basically you need more cards.

The cheapest possible boosters on the market during sales are $4 (10 cards). That's 40c each.

For volume I would recommend going on eBay and buying Pokemon TCG Bulk, like this one which is $20 for 200 cards (10c each). Take care to avoid buying bulk packs with energy in them (if you already have enough energy of every type).

  • Sold out now at Amazon,

The links to other retailers are at the bottom of my original post, looks like cardbot would have you sorted for around $45 including shipping for the next best offer, otherwise free shipping with $150 spend 😊

  • Thanks for all the suggestions. We've bought some boosters on clearance and also eBay bulk lots. Bought a crazy amount of energy as we didn't have enough. Now more than enough that we've cobbled together a bunch of simple decks.

I'll look into the championship decks. Sounds good for the kids. They're not interested at tournaments as they're only 6 and 8yo.

    • Regarding the championship decks they have a different back to the normal cards, so it would be difficult to edit/experiment with these decks without slightly spoiling gameplay (since you can see which cards are from which set) unless you put all the cards into sleeves with opaque backs.
