  • Paid $109.00 for one of these a year ago and it’s absolutely top tier for air cooling. Highly recommended.

  • Support for Intel LGA2066/2011-v3/2011/1151/1150/1155/1366

Is that outdated info or does it actually not support 1700?

    • +1

In the product description (middle of page) it does list 1700

      MAXIMUM COMPATIBILITY
      Intel : LGA2066/2011-v3/2011/1700/LGA1200/1151/1150/1155
      AMD: AM5/AM4

Though some comments mention you need to purchase the 1700 bracket separately.

Thermalright Peerless Assassin 120 SE, high quality, 120mm fans, silent, top buy and much much cheaper $48!

    • Fairly new to air coolers, aside from price why is this the better option please ?

      • +1

The deepcool will probably cooler better than the PA120.
I think that deepcool is equivalent of the Phantom Spirit 120.
I'd say get the one that you will need. But if you want a stronger air cooler the deepcool will win.

It's the same product but with 120mm fans, believe me you won't notice any differences unless you're overclocking and looking at that 1-2 degrees difference that in the real life means nothing, so consider the price and the dimensions.

It has 7 heat pipes vs the 6 on the PA so it will exhaust heat out faster and better.
I'm saying this despite owning. PA

      • I feel Thermalright is better brand then Deepcool (from Socket 478 days)

On lga1700 (13900k) Assassin 3 outperforms PA120 at higher higher decibel levels.
        https://youtu.be/iaJBsQPqxRA?t=680

On am4 (3950x), PA120 outperforms Assassin 3 possibly due to more consistent mounting pressure and lower flatness.
        https://youtu.be/Mm4hyIHe1PM?t=1015

Assassin 3 was designed for older intel lga115x cpus which may be why it has worse mounting pressure on some newer cpus (especially amd chiplet designs where die is offset rather than in the centre). This seems to be reason why the Noctua d15 also underperforms on amd.

        • Is it any point changing to the PA 120 if i intend to upgrade cpu to a 5900x?

          Currently on a CoolerMaster ml240 and a 3700x.

Can hear fans ramp a little on load but not unbearable.

          Thanks all
