Decent specs for just under A$120 if you're after a smaller tablet at 8.4". Perfectly fine for watching media, light gaming or for the kids. Unlike a lot of other cheap 8" tablets this has both dual speakers and a headphone jack.

Featuring an 8.4" IPS 1920x1200 IPS fully laminated display with ~360nits brightness, Android 13 with Google Play, 4GB RAM, 128GB storage (microSD card support), Unisoc T616 Octa-core CPU, 5500mAh battery with USB-C, dual speakers, 3.5mm earphone jack, 13MP rear camera + 5MP front camera, 4G with B28, dual SIM, GPS, WiFi ac and Bluetooth 5.0. The tablet weighs 317g and has an aluminum alloy metal body.

As for downsides the RAM at 4GB is quite low, however it does support Android's "virtual RAM" that allocates some of the storage to increase this to 8GB to make it better. And while it does have Widevine L1 DRM, it doesn't support Netflix HD, but services like Amazon Prime and Disney+ will be in HD.

AU$ based on current Mastercard rate and GST inclusive.

  • Was looking at an ipad mini for travel research but this might be a good option, anyone used before? okay speed for the price (meaning will i not want to throw it against a wall after a few weeks)

    • +1

The processor speed is less than Samsung A8 2021 model. It passable but don’t expect quick quick and buttery smooth operation

      • A whole 200MHz difference in the base clock speed of the T616 and T618. No idea why Unisoc bothered to release the T616.

  • is this good enough for parents who just want to watch youtube, as their ipad mini 2 stop supporting OS upgrades to use youtube thanks

    • +2

Would be fine, bonus would be to install Youtube Revanced for ad-free youtube with background play and Sponsorblock (I also like to disable Shorts).

      • Is Revanced still running? I was using Vanced until YT blocked their API access

        • Sure is, but it's now a script in an app that you have to apply to a YouTube APK yourself. Gives you full customisation, and you can patch other apps with it too e.g. re-enable API calls in third-party Reddit apps.

    • Yeah it would be good just for YouTube and Netflix

How does this compare to say Lenovo M8 or M9?

    • I won't recommend m8 since it's only 2GB/32GB. I think it's underpowered and lack of storage even if it's an android go device. I would choose m9 over m8 .

  • Looks like a couple dollars more with case included but can't tell if it's a stand case

  • This looks good, but how come not Netflix HD? Anyone know something similar with Netflix HD?

    • +3

doubt you'll tell the difference on this size display

  • Headwolf is an insane name 😂

  • buy alldocube iplay 50 mini pro nfe for 50-60$ more. performance difference is very significant.

    • you saying that one or this one is better?

      • that one.

    • The ones I found are more like +$100-$120 more expensive. Where can you find it cheaper?
      TIA!

      • +1

I think someone posted deal here the latest one but basically don't buy from alldocube tablet official but just alldocube official from AliExpress. it's cheaper

        • That would have been me and it's now OOS.

    • I play 50 is almost on par for price but it uses the t606 soc. The pro version I see is more bang for buck you are paying almost $100 more for the pro version. I was tossing up between the orbic tab 8 or an I play mini but this is better for price

Anybody know what tracking chips/systems (ie GPS GLOSSNAS GALILEO ETC) they use (apart from standard cccp)

    • You mean the exact GPS chipset?

      • Not the exact chipset just tech in general.

        • For what reason? Uses GPS so it'll work in Australia and has BDS and Galileo if you were ever in a country that needed those.

          • +1

@Clear: You can use any of the system (GPS,bds and Galileo) in any part of the world. Having multiple tech usually improves accuracy and provides redundancy.

            • @gtech: Yes. There's also 4G connectivity and obviously WiFi.

              • @Clear: my bad didn't see/read the ad properly.
                Cheers mate

  • The thing with cheap tabs like this is the lack of parts and accessories.

    • What parts, though? If it's anything like phones, a new screen etc costs as much as the device.

  • Does this table support display/HDMI out?

    • +1

      Wired/HDMI no. You can cast/stream.

  • Lol if you select the option with the case, its $278 more!

    • Yes, I saw that … rather odd since I found what I assume are suitable cases for this tablet listed separately on Amazon for about $17.

I'm trying to buy this tablet, but Amazon aren't accepting my PayPal payment - 'security issues' of some sort that even their Chat person can't resolve. After dumping history and cache, and trying another browser unsuccessfully, try again later is the latest suggestion :|

  • Thanks to who posted this deal, I ordered this tablet and received it last week. For just $128 all up, this little tablet is way better and more useful to me than my Samsung Tab A8, new a few months ago, with its slow processor and dull low-res screen with only a chunky 6 x 5 layout that Samsung can't fix.

This Fpad3's got a very clear and vivid screen, fast enough for my usual browsing and shopping, EV and home energy monitoring, video watching and casting, full Google Play and it's not lumbered with Samsung-ware. Plus I can hold it in one hand so it's travel and bedtime friendly. The main camera is adequate, but with a smartphone always on me it's almost never used anyway. The only things that I miss occasionally is auto-brightness - an odd ommission - and a fingerprint detector. Face detection works under optimum lighting, which isn't always there.

A good bang-per-buck general use tablet for those looking for a very portable tablet who're not into heavy gaming or similar tasks, etc.
