  • my Akko 3098 ($98) is still going strong.

97/100 keys are great for compact size and the number pad.

  • I’m using the Nuphy Halo60, it took me a while to get used to but I’m glad I did!

Much more compact device with 60 key and helps to reduce the distance from left hand and mouse when it comes to FP shooters.

    • whats the use of a shorter distance tho

      • +1

So you don’t have to spread like an eagle when you’re doing the pew pew

        • Agreed, it's so much more comfortable because you can also have the alpha keys centred in front of you without the mouse being in Narnia.

Although I do find 65% a better compromise personally (having used 60% and TKL for 2 yrs+)

Southpaw makes sense, though. With the numpad on the left.

        • I use a 96% KB and my mouse and WASD are just beyond shoulder width. I'm not like physically well endowed shoulders wise or anything… Isn't that roughly where they should be?

          • @Pusheencat: If WASD is beyond shoulder width, the alpha keys are way off-centre. Which is fine if you're happy but I can't stand that.

  • Is my G710+ retro yet?

  • Thanks OP, been wanting a keyboard in this form factor for a while

  • How do these stack up to Keychron keyboards? Been hard to find the compact numpad keyboards. Also what's up with the switches here, what is Brown equivalent?

    • Seems like they’re all linear options? Brown is tactile. I like tactile too.

I've owned a Keychron and an Epomaker. I would say the keychron would have better build quality, and more of a premium feel esp. if you get one with an aluminum case (price goes up for these variants).

Also if it matters to you, Epomaker's software is average, compared to the Keychron equivalents (if it says QMK/VIA compatible for the Keychron then you're in good hands).

Epomaker has kinda garnered a dodgy rep, both with their customer support and product quality

I bought an Epomaker TH80, but the Bluetooth and 2.4Ghz never worked. Other than that, it was decent quality for the price but wouldn't consider another Epomaker board again.

Go for a Keychron if you can

Interesting, only considered this deal cos I recognized them from LTT sponsor

        • haha yeah, and they got flamed on the r/mechanicalkeyboard subreddit for taking up a sponsorship deal with them 🤣

there are better boards out there that are less dodgy than Epomaker imo, ie. Feker or Monsgeek

          • @CrispyChrispy: Rough lmao. How do those 2 compare to Keychron? Only reputable brand I know of but a little on the premium side from what I seen

            • +1

@maegajang: Honestly it depends what you're after

A board I had my eyes on for a while was the Monsgeek M1, full aluminium build and good feature set for ~$170. Equivalent (almost) Keychron boards sit at $50-$100 more.

Admittedly I haven't looked at the budget end of custom keyboards in a while, if you wanna go further visit the r/budgetkeebs sub for actual advice.

  • Recently got the Retro White version of this keyboard with silent sea salt switches, sounds beautiful I'm very happy with it.

  • Same colour with Gateron Pro Yellow switches may be preferred by some for the same price (factory lubricated linears)

  • I bought this from this deal and recently got a Keychron Q5 pro. I've been using both for a while, but right now the keychron is sitting in the box waiting for a rebuild with stabiliser tape and lube cus the space bar is very rattly.
Personally I really like this keyboard for the price. I got the wisteria linear switch and It sounds nice and thocky (creamy but loud vs crisp but quiet from the keychron), the screen is very unique, good quality build and connectivity options. It does come with a lot of cons, like the software is terrible, the screen has no real function, and it takes a lot of work to even get the basic functions of the screen working.
