I used to get sick of replacing these Tefal and Jamie Olive Oil pans all the time and wouldn't recommend.

At least get some anodised aluminium, hold up better (Baccarat iD or something, anodised aluminium. Those robins kitchen pricks always have a sale on).

I’ve been using these for the last 2 years
They are okay, they are also pretty much ready for the bin

    • Thanks, will pass

      • good idea, they end up in the wheely routinely otherwise.
Those teflon coatings are healthy, just get stainless steel and try seasoning it, or the other material i suggested.
I find cast iron too much for a lot of general cooking.

        • I think I’m going to buy the SR matrix pans to replace mine

@Wiadro: They look like hexclad clones, which are heavily marketed, expensive, crappy cookware. IMO better to use traditional pans for 95% of cooking and use a cheap Ikea non-stick pan for eggs or other things that benefit from non-stick.

            • @Aureus: Can you link some "traditional" pans please. I'm needing to replace our daily and not sure which one to grab.. >.<

  • C'mon Amazon, price match

Aren't the Ikea ones supposed to be brilliant value for money? Think that's what I'll be trying next.

  • The sales language is bizarre. Free of this and that, no mention of what they actually are.
Teflon of course, but they think people are too stupid to hear the facts. Sadly true .

  • My suggestion to stay away from non stick teflon
    and use hard anodysed utensils

  • What the hell is a "TITANIUM non-stick coating" … Does it actually involve any titanium material at all ?

I've had by the best luck so farwith Crofton brand nonstick pans bought from ALDI - those I believe claimed an 'ULTIMATE' grade non-stick coating, but who the hell knows if they're proper standardised ratings or not …

  • Buy through their ebay store to use your $20 voucher

  • worth noting those may be made in China. from my personal experience, the made in Franch ones tend to last longer.

  • I have one of these and I think it's horrific. Maybe like a year old.

  • Stainless steel or cast iron. Much better for your health and the environments.
The non stick element is a forever chemical (PFAS), and inevitably comes off and either enters your body or permanently enters the freshwater supply and circulates from liquid solid gas. Bad cancer causing stuff.

    • That is pretty accurate and the funny thing is people will get cancer from cooking meat and eggs anyway (different type of cancer perhaps).

    This instead at $85.40

    • Not bad sizes, I'd prob want the lids I suppose (total price:$131.30)
Is it difficult to season them so they don't stick?

Already got a stainless i never use for that reason (maybe 26cm)

Just ensure the pan is hot (water drop test) and after clean the pans with https://www.coles.com.au/product/bar-keepers-friend-cleanser… and it looks brand new everytime

        • ok that's cool.
So don't need to season them with oil, similar to seasoning a wok?
          Helps it not to stick.

          • +1

@G-rig: I was interested to see if I needed to season the pans and it looks like it's not recommended, it's going to get dirty and stuff will stick just get good at cleaning it I guess 😄, at least with the stainless pans you can use abrasives and abrasive creams to get a mirror finish

            https://scanpanuk.co.uk/pages/q-a
How do I season my SCANPAN?

You don't need to season your SCANPAN. That is for pure cast iron or carbon steel cookware! We ask you to clean your pan thoroughly after every use – also make sure you consider the fats that you use. Oil or fat can be a non-stick murderer if not used wisely… take butter for example! Subject to the type it has a flash point (burn point) of around 150C. Your cookware can go to 260C, so adding butter to a pan that hot will burn the butter in seconds, covering your pan with a patina of blackened fat that needs to be removed quickly. Even more of a nightmare if you do this time after time! Take a Rapeseed or Nut Oil (avoid if allergic) and you will find this has a higher flash capability, mix with a little butter if you wish to get the best flavours! Try to never use a spray-on low-calorie oil as these, on a hot pan land as a mist of fat that burns even more quickly than butter!

            • @pazloft: Thanks for checking, just as I thought.
It confirms the general consensus of just getting the cheapest non-stick for cooking certain things (that stick) and toss it routinely. Pretty bad for landfill and the environment. Having said that these anodised alu ones lasting me ages but prob need to inspect more ofen and throw away if any cuts or worn.
