I’ve been holding off installing security cameras, waiting for tech to improve, prices to come down, and have been leery about paying for yet another subscription. This seems to meet all my criteria. Anyone with this installed and can provide comments on if it’s worth it? And any pros and cons after using it for a while?

If you can’t/don’t wanna run cables it’s a good option.

My in laws got this to compliment their wired system. I went a network of eufy outdoor cams instead as didn’t need solar and preferred 24.7 record (literally records all the time to sd)

      • Eufy do a wired 24/7 camera?

        • yeah , T8441C21 but looks like its not current anymore, in 24.7 mode its 1080p only recording, down from the 2k.

@Jimothy Wongingtons: they have a newer 24/7 cam:

            https://myeufy.com.au/eufy-security-eufycam-e330-add-on-came…

wired power; wireless video - requires homebase 3

            • @cerealJay: nice, and it looks like they swapped over to standard 12v over 5v, which is great. piece of cake to extend cables. I might look into upgrading this year then as I was going to redo all the SELV cabling around in the gardens in the back and front yard anyway. Really opens up my options in where I can add cameras.

home base 3 also has the cross camera tracking option which is a huge sell point for me.

            • @cerealJay: Thanks for that. I thought I was going to have replace th whole system. We have a serial dumper across the street dropping bags of rubbish in front of people houses and the motion activation of the wifi ones doesn't catch her.

I'll have to see how the night performance on these things is though I guess.

              • @Flyerone: I suppose that's a valid use case for 24/7. But you might end up with a LOT of video files to manually check. I guess they're time-stamped which eases the pain a little.

The whole benefit of event-based motion recording is you end up with only video clips associated with an event. And you can get alerts and do other triggers based on events. Perhaps these 24/7 cams allow both events and continuous recording, I haven't checked.

This is great! Don’t know why I didn’t think of looking back at old deals. Brain must still be on holidays! 🤣

Cheaper here https://www.devicedeal.com.au/eufy-security-eufycam-3-4k-wir… $1499 at the moment but it sometimes comes down to $1399.

And sometimes lower elsewhere too. https://www.ozbargain.com.au/product/eufy-t8873tw1

    • Spewing. As I was walking in to the store I refreshed the page and they’ve gone back up to $1599

      • same. I had just sent my price beat to bunnings and they replied back rejecting it cause it gone back to $1599

      • Damn, that's just poor form by the seller. Shame on them for the ninja price change.

  • How would this setup go against something like a few Reolink Argus 3 Ultra cameras?
