Does anyone know the difference between this and the 2889f that’s sold in aus?

    • Quick Googling around. F is AUG Plug version. E is European Version.

And I imagine this would be UK plug as well. Not worth the hassle imo.

Saying that, I've got a the Pet version and they are damn fine machines.

A plug adapter is a hassle?

        • +1

UK plug is essentially the same as a Au plug, same green / brown / blue wire combination. The UK plug has a fuse while the Au plug doesn't. Just swap out the plugs with a screwdriver.

Or you can pay $50 for a electrician to swap the plugs out for you.

            @AirbusA389:

            This +1.

I know many around here will argue it’s a waste of time and money, it’s super-easy to do, etc, etc, but it’s far better to be safe and not chance it with electricity. Still a good deal even if you’re paying for the plug to be done properly.

            @AirbusA389: And void the warranty

            • @asa79:

              And void the warranty

              ^^^^ this 100% will happen

            • @asa79: Couldn't you just put the UK plug back on if you ever needed to send it back?
Would only take a couple minutes to do and it's not like they're going to check your plug if the warranty issue is unrelated.

  • I have the ProHeat Revolution Pet 3631F and can vouch for it being a fantastic machine. Good Guys Commercial have it for $461 currently and assume there's still the hack to getting access by signing up to a REST super account.

    • My only gripes are that the power head still in spins when using the hand held tools. Would have been so simple to add a lever that disengages the belt. The other being the power head cover doesn't come off for easy washing (when bits go in the crevice). Instead they give you a glorified stick tool.

Use a Kirby vac first and it's not really an issue. Dyson first and you will get some fur bombs along the way.

But..still the best shampooer currently on the market and did a great job of extracting moisture back out.

      • yeah i'd agree with that. if you're not careful the rotating head could cause issues on the surface (carpet) it's sitting on, while you're using the handheld tool to clean a couch, for example.

  • Good price, I take it you will replace UK plug with AU plug?
There are many one star reviews about “Drive belt broke, jammed and melted against housing. Only used for about two hours.” tho..

    • I’d take reviews like that with a grain of salt (for anything not just this)

    • +1

Yeah will just use a travel adapter, no biggie. Majority of the reviews I've seen have been positive.

Showing as in stock for me

Nope. Only 20% claimed. Still available.

  • Got one!

  • Thanks OP. Just got one.

  • Thank You, grabbed one

Honestly this deal is so underrated… it’s so rare we see a deal on Carpet cleaner. The last post on a carpet cleaner was like 6 months ago.

  • Suggestions for where to buy cleaning solution for this?

    • +1

bunnings. I know woolies has them as well, but haven't checked coles.

    • +1

The cheapest place is The Good Guys Commercial website - can pick up in store once you order online, too.

    • +2

You don't need to use the Bissell cleaner if it's a fiddle to get or too costly. A commercial low foaming product will do the job. I use a low foaming variety shampoo from Agar chemicals I got from Godfreys.

      Noob/retail solution
Buy the Bissell/retail solution which is around $22 per Litre at HN.
      https://www.harveynorman.com.au/bissel-concentrate-blossom-a…

      Pro/Commercial solution
      https://www.bunnings.com.au/peerless-jal-5l-steamy-carpet-ex…
      $35.99
      5L Concentrate, makes 600L

Basically the 5L version is like buying 500x bottles of the $22 bottle.

  • How does warranty works, would Bissel provide the usual 2 yrs warranty as if bought locally?

    • As it’s sold through Amazon AU you should still be entitled to consumer law coverage

      • -1

I am not so sure, as 1) it’s sold by Amazon UK with UK plug and serial number with European model. 2) It’s like Grey import, so Bissell Aust most likely won’t cover warranty and if any issue down the track only could try and return to Amazon UK where you bought from?

  • +1

Can i use it for sofa as well!?

  • -1

    Whopping 9% less than usual!

  • Does this heat the water?

    • -1

None of them heat the water. The water tank simply sits on top of a electric motor. The electric motor vents past the tank. Put hot water in at the start, motor stops it from cooling as quick.

    • +1

don't think so, the water heating ones will mention their heatwave tech

  • Keen on this one. Our carpet is the slightly thicker type. Will this one work?

  • are these safe for wool carpets?

  • Thanks OP. Got one!

  • +1

Bought one and 4.9% Cashback too from ShopBack

  • I bought one and never used a carpet cleaner before. Do you know which cleaning solution is for this machine?

Since this machine has no tool to clean stairs, is there any other solutions for cleaning stairs?
    Thanks

    • +1

It might come with a bottle of Bissell shampoo otherwise get a low foaming commercial shampoo. Use the included hose and attachments for stairs.

    • It comes with 1 included

  • RRP $399.
    $172 is a good price.
Last Bissell unit lasted a decade for me.

  • I got the au version, cleans quite well you will be shocked at the colour of the water when it vaccum.

Cons are water tank is small, enough for a 3x3 bedroom. Also annoying to clean

    • 'annoying to clean' ?

I used a Bissel carpet sweeper for many years - it was great - a simple rotating brush tossed dirt into either side, and a simple one thumb press to flip out to empty

it eventually broke and I bought a new model - WTF it was bigger, heavier, more awkward to use, had extra brushes on the outside that always clogged with hairs, were very difficult to clean, and then the wire would bend becoming a problem, and the old easy flip-open with one thumb now required definitely two hands with a lot of effort, and was harder to empty and clean out due to the awkward shape and the fact that the long handle wouldn't go flat on one side so required holding it at an awkward angle - ugh.

Based on that I'd be wondering about the design of this offered model.

  • I'm wondering how this might compare in cleaning effectiveness with the rental Britex from Bunnings and some Woolworths - about $38 for 24 hours - with more than one place to do each time I usually rent for 48 hours for $47 now - https://www.bunnings.com.au/for-hire-britex-carpet-cleaner-4… - better value per day with less rushing - and any areas I see didn't come good, I can simply go over again the next day

oops - just saw the retail price of the Britex for the first time - $1595 from Bunnings - https://www.bunnings.com.au/britex-carpet-cleaning-machine_p…

so that should be better - but more than 9x better than this $172 deal ?
Anyone used both to advise their experience ?

    • Hire the Rug Doctor over the Britex. https://www.bunnings.com.au/for-hire-rug-doctor-carpet-clean…
The Britex has a terrible rating on the Bunnings page, especially when compared to the Rug Doctor.

      Some other notes:
      Britex leaks like *@#&
Rug Doctor is heavy but that means less work for you because it pushes down carpet while cleaning, whereas Britex requires more down force to vac, meaning you'll get tired easier.
Dragging Britex around with all the hose is annoying. Rug Doctor is just a machine and yes there's a hose, but you only use it when you want to clean furniture, etc.

Rug Doctor is similar to the Bissell Big Green which is much better/easier to use then the cumbersome Britex.

If you're planning to buy, all of them will do a decent job. The main difference is their water holding capacity. The small units will require constant back and forth water filling/dirty water emptying compared to the bigger units, which is a major hassle.

i've used the Britex, Rug Doctor and own Big Green.
Personally I would hire the Rug Doctor. Spent $1.5k on Big Green but tbh it would of been wiser to just hire the Rug Doctor every couple of months.

      My 2c

  • Now back to $641?
