    Par Boiled White Rice

    Why par boiled?

It only takes around 7 minutes to cook rice.

Think of all the trash posts you could make in 7 minutes, jv. This practically pays for itself.

      • It only saves you 2 minutes.

Rice takes 20 minutes you must be bloated

      • That's true. This product's cooking instruction also says "Allow the rice to simmer for approximately 20 minutes." Kind of pointless.

    • JV, I don't know what you are cooking in 7 minutes, but it ain't rice unless using a pressure cooker. And who would do that?

At what temp does rice boil?

  • Uncle!

  • Silly product. It takes the same time or perhaps even shorter time to cook normal rice.

    • Normal rice also turns to mush, this doesnt.
      If you know you know

You must be consuming plastics disguised as rice 😆

        Comes pre-mushed?

  • Uncle Roger isn't too happy!

    Ayye yah!

  • Just get a microwave rice cooker and its done while you're dicking around on OzB

par boiled means the rice already absorbed some water means they are selling you water.

Wikipedia tells me it is dried again afterwards. (I hadn't heard of it before now so was curious)

It appears there are multiple reasons for parboiling. It's cooked in the husk, so the rice retains more nutrients, and it's easier to remove the husk afterwards. After drying, it's more weevil resistant.

It's also firmer and less sticky when cooked. Maybe that's why my rice is never as good as restaurant rice…

The benefit of par-boiled rice is that it has most of the starch removed…rendering it low-carb, high-fibre and this is rice that is recommended for fitness and blood sugar control as it is Low GI and does not raise sugar levels as quick as normal rice would. Look up “benefits of sella rice”.

    • That’s not true. Parboiled is healthier as the outer layer called bran containing fibre and minerals is not removed.

      • Read again. My msg was indicating that it IS healthier than other rice varieties.

        • msg was indicating that it IS healthier

          I'm allergic to msg.

      • the outer layer called bran containing fibre and minerals is not removed.

Everyone complaining about cooking times should recompare to brown rice.

  • holds shape when in bain marie and good for industrial style server's of food ..taste bit strange and texture it rubbery imho

  • The Penguin Classics of rice.
