  Why do these still have the hideous "USB 3" interface on them? Is this for people to remember they're dealing with older, superseded tech?

  It's going to stick around like USB-B did in printers and scanners, but USB-B always felt sturdier and those devices are not as portable and you don't need to plug and unplug a lot.

        yes. im holding off upgrading my backup solutions (as its crazily all over the place) until more usbc comes through, not sure how long i have to wait.
        but i did jump on this deal few years ago https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/601627 which was nice.
