This deal is back and this time it's the 6GB/128GB MediaTek Kompanio 1300T CPU variant in the colour Gold that's quite light in colour. I've been using this one since receiving it a week after the last deal and it's easily my favourite tablet yet. The OLED screen is beautiful, the Android ROM isn't sluggish and the CPU/GPU paired with the fast RAM/storage handles every game thrown at it.

While this ships with an unofficial Global ROM without updates/Widevine L1, it's very easy to reflash it to the official Global ROM with Widevine L1 for Netflix HD, Google Play and OTA updates. Instructions can be found here with this very important part.

Features include an 11.2" 2560x1536 OLED display with 120Hz refresh rate, 600nits brightness, HDR10+ & Dolby Vision, 6GB RAM, 128GB UFS 3.1 Storage (microSD support), 8200mAh battery with 30W fast charging, USB-C with Video Out, 4 JBL Speakers with Dolby Atmos, 13MP rear camera, 8MP front camera, WiFi ac, Bluetooth 5.1, GPS and POGO pins for charging/keyboard.

  • Add "Color: Golden 6G 128G" to the cart
  • Apply the coupon AENYA20 or 24WS20 at checkout

If you have a VPN turn it off or anything else that could be masking your location. Alternatively Starlink is known to cause issues with AliExpress thinking you're in another region.

      • Dang so that was why. I was using the 1.1.1.1 app and the same error happen to me. Now it work again.

        • +3

AliExpress have regional pricing and some products won't show for some regions, i.e. Pokemon won't show in Japan.

          • +1

@Clear: Thanks for your info. I realize Wooly and Coles app catalogue doesnt work properly when VPN is turned on too.

            • +1

@myvanbo: I don't think because of regions as people are still in AU with or without VPN . I guess to prevent people from making new accounts?

I don't see why Ali needs to but Coles and WW do to show correct pricing.

Cheers DB— oh shiiii, whoops. Thanks Clear!

  • How can I tell the difference between this and a scam ad on AliExpress? With laptops and mini PCs etc.

Factory Direct Collected Store and Cutesliving Store are both run by AliExpress themselves so their listings are legit. You'll find fake products won't have the actual brand name in their title to avoid disputes for being misleading.

Take this classic for example. At first glance you'll see it has the Xiaomi Pad 5 render, but check out the title:

2024 Original Global Version Tablet Android 13 Pad 6 Pro 16GB+1TB Snapdragon 888 Tablets PC 5G Dual SIM Card WIFI HD 4K Mi Tab

There's no mention of Xiaomi, or any brand anywhere. The same goes for the images themselves. Some other listings may say "Xioami" instead which obviously at first glance is similar but not the same. The price seems too good to be true. 16GB RAM, 1TB storage, Snapdragon 888, 10000mAh battery all for about $150 AUD….. why isn't every other brand this cheap?

      • +1

Thanks so I should really only keep an eye on those stores and avoid the rest. I've seen some good deals for the UM790 pro that the price could've been legit but wasn't sure what to look out for.

      • +1

It's interesting to see they've got 130 reviews with 4.2 stars average. I assume they're all fake. These were the top 2 reviews when I checked:

It's really great. The large size satisfies my desire to watch videos. The lines on this tablet are very smooth

The appearance color is very nice, very thin, and the memory is sufficient. It is also convenient to use in daily life. I really like it and am very satisfied with a shopping experience.

        • AliExpress will give you coins to write reviews after receiving a product. Some of those reviews would be from those people. I have no doubt others are fake.

    Nice post ClearBot.

  • Anyone have issues where the battery would drain if you don't use it for a day or two? Thought it would go to sleep if locked but obviously not.

I was previously keen to try one of these super tablets (mine was direct from from Lenovo Express) but I had a problem with shit-tier QC from Lenovo China, resulting in me receiving a tablet in early Oct2023 with one faulty speaker (it buzzed/clicked when volume muted and sounded awful when the volume was turned up). After trying to get them to refund it unsuccessfully (they wouldnt even admit it was an issue at first, then offered me $5 and then $8US compensation, rather than address the issue or replace my faulty unit). In the end, had to get Paypal involved and return the unit to China at my expense, and only have just got my refund finally processed.

I know there was another user here who had a similar crappy experience - I believe his tablet was not able to detect or log on to any wifi signals and he also ended up having to return it.

Just my 2c - ymmv, good luck to those who are very happy with their tablets, but just be aware that it can be a real pita dealing with Ali sellers if something goes wrong.

      • +1

Yep I had a similar experience, Tablet arrived DOA and they wanted me to send videos showing it "not working". Took going to Paypal (after waiting another 4 weeks for it to arrive back in china).

Arrived there eventually got my refund from Paypal, but for some reason the shipping address turned out to be closed so the thing arrived back a couple months later to me.

      • Yeah that was me. Lots of hoops to jump through to get my refund from Aliexpress and ended up being out of pocket due to exchange rate changes when I eventually got refunded (paid in USD) and having to fork out for shipping back to China.

Seller was a outright scam artist where he would be nice to me in private messages and acknowledged that he received the tablet but outright lied to Aliexpress in the dispute process and said he never received the item. Thank god he was stupid enough to admit it in private messages and Ali was able to rule in my favour.

Great tablet for the price if you're willing to run the gauntlet and get a non-defective model.

      • +1

I was considering one last year. Glad I ended up going with an iPad.

Have you tried flashing one of these from the unofficial Global ROM to the official one?
I've been looking into this specific tablet for a while, and it seems the Chinese ROM ones are easy to flash, but the ones that have been unlocked and flashed with the unofficial Global ROM have all sorts of issues.

    • +1

What did the deal say when you read it? Hint: yes.

I reflashed mine following the linked instructions and it was easy. No issues since.

      • Did yours have the global ROM or the Chinese one?

        • +2

Shipped with the fake global ROM on the MediaTek variant. Reflashed with official global ROM.

          • @Clear: Thanks, I might give it a try :)

              • +2

@Clear: Thanks, I saw all kinds of thread on this tablet. I had a look at XDA and whirlpool, and a lot of people had issues with the bootloader staying unlocked etc… Some even gave up and sold the tablet, so I'm a bit concerned, but I might take the risk anyway.

Edit: I asked a number of sellers for the Chinese ROM version, but it seems they all sold out.

                • +1

@RiseAndRuin: A braver man than me. haha.

Ultimately, the market drives the price of these tablets. You get what you pay for.

                  • @clandestino: Ordered one just now.
I actually have been chatting with them since Saturday. They claim the below, and will provide a partial refund if the info is not correct, including Widevine L1, which I had already told them doesn't look right.

"The tablet can be used as if it were intended for the global market. Most Chinese apps can be deleted or blocked. Google applications can be installed without any problems (Play Store, Chrome, Gboard, Gmail, Google Pay, etc.). YouTube Enhanced works. Widevine L1 is supported. You can watch Netflix in Full HD. The screen is also good with excellent colors and brightness. OTA works. The battery lasts 2 to 3 days with moderate use. The tablet is a great option for watching movies and playing games (COD max settings)."

                    • +1

                      @RiseAndRuin:

This sounds like the reply they would give if it came with the original Chinese rom. You sure they're not talking about the Chinese rom version lol

I have the 8gb version with original Chinese rom and this response is my experience with it

                • @RiseAndRuin:

I had a look at XDA and whirlpool, and a lot of people had issues with the bootloader staying unlocked

That would be my concern to. If the bootloader was unlocked to flash a custom global rom, and it can't be locked back, your device won't support widevine L1.

          • @Clear: I did research on this tablet when I bought mine and my understanding was if you had a custom rom flashed on it you couldn't get widevine L1 because the bootloader would have been unlocked to flash any custom rom.

The instructions you posted are for going from Chinese original rom to global original rom (you don't need to unlock bootloader in this process since your are using the official roms from Lenovo)

Can you confirm u actually have widevine L1?

Use the app drm info from the playstore

            • +1

@IdBuyThat4aDollar: It took a while for the community to work out it could be done this way, especially when the global variant came much later. No unlocked bootloader and Widevine L1 confirmed on mine.

        • Thanks for your research @Clear. I'm wondering what has changed with the flashing process since the last deal?

Looking at the comments in the last deal, it was clear (pardon the pun) that everyone was avoiding units that did not have the official Chinese ROM loaded. And as mentioned above, this current deal has the units shipped with a (presumably unofficial) global ROM. I would hate to buy this and then find out that it is not possible to load the official Global ROM!

          • @robtheman: Until I knew about Lenovo RSA that was my advice. If you get the MediaTek version you can reflash it with the genuine global ROM using the tool with the instructions provided in the description.

            • +1

              @Clear: Awesome. Thanks.

That begs the question… Why don't they just use an official global ROM

  • +1

I'm still waiting on the y700 2023 deal.

  • How does this compare to something like the Samsung Tab A9+ for $379? I know the Samsung is more expensive but is that extra cost worth it? Idk much about Android or tablets 🥲

    • +1

      This has an oled screen

      • +1

        120hz refresh as well.

    • +4

This tablet is much more powerful than the A9+. The Xiaoxin Pad Pro 2022 is also a bit faster than the Galaxy tab S9 FE.

      • -4

Why does power in a tablet matter. If it can render video on the screen, battery life is likely to be far more important.

        • +1

Because it's a better device that also has a larger battery life?

  • I own the Lenovo Xiaoxin Pad Pro 2021 and absolutely love it. OLED screen is awesome.

Do we also have a Global ROM for this model to convert from Chinese? Currently mine runs the 'Chinese Global ROM' but would love to have the Global ROM on it.

    • +1

It can be done easily with the rescue tool if there's a global equivalent of that tablet. The Lenovo P11 Pro uses the Snapdragon 730 so that one wouldn't be compatible. I don't think they ever released an SD870 variant globally.

  • Is the oled screen really worth it compared to the one below for US$ 119?

      Yes.

  • +4

Couple of the reviews complained about the tablet not working (defective screen) when they received it

    • +2

Also other tablets turned up with faulty speaker and DOA wifi chip.

      • +2

Yeah I guess it comes down to lottery. I bought myself a sealed Chinese ROM Xiaoxin Pad Pro 2022 (TB132FU), then converted it to the official Global ROM. Runs immaculately.

    • Yep and the return was the biggest PITA as well.

    • Also had one turn up with an inoperative display.

  • +3

With the 8g Snapdragon variant being only $60 more, why recommend this instead? Can you not flash the global rom onto it or something?

    • +3

Correct. The Snapdragon variant never had a global release so there's no global ROM. Instead you'll have to flash the Chinese ROM running the Lenovo ZUI skin of Android (it looks pretty good imo) that isn't completely translated into English. While you can get OTA updates and Widevine L1 DRM for Netflix HD on ZUI it requires the bootloader to be locked after flashing and that's quite involved.

Not worth the risk going to all the trouble with the potential of bricking the tablet when there isn't a massive increase in performance.

      • Interesting, thanks for letting me know! Do you happen to know specificially how wide the performance difference is?

Edit: The price is also showing as $306 for me now

        • The Snapdragon 870 is about 5-10% better in performance than the Kompanio 1300T. The Kompanio ends up being better on energy efficiency and supports the AV1 codec that Qualcomm lacks.

Obviously with an extra 2GB RAM you're going to get better memory management by having more apps in the background and marginally better performance in games. I've not noticed any issues with having apps closing in the background or anything compared to my 12GB RAM phone.

          • @Clear: Are you saying that only the snapdragon comes in the 8GB variant while the 6GB variant is always 1300T? The listing does not make it clear

            • @brd56: Correct. The colour section where it says 6G is 1300T and 8G SD870.

          • @Clear: According to CPUmonkey. The Kompanio 1300T is slightly faster than the Snapdragon on the Geekbench 6 multicore test.

            • @Griffindinho: Yeah they're so comparable it really is minimal difference.

      • It's not just the chipset and RAM. See my other reply for @TheFBIGuy 's comment.

        • Faster charging and fingerprint reader sure. I hope you're running ZUI and not the fake ROM.

    • There's no official Global ROM for the Snapdragon 870 variant, as it's only available in China. Only the MediaTek Kompanio 1300T (TB132FU) will be compatible with it.

    • I bought snapdragon varient from the earlier deal. For me the the main reason for the choice was the 68W or so fast charging and it comes with a 68W USB C PD fast charger in the box - the charger itself would cost 30~60 AUD from a reputable brand.

It has a fingerprint sensor too. 2GB RAM is definitely nice to have too.

I paid much more than this but still I believe it's worth it.

      • +1

So you have an English rom loaded with widevine L1 DRM functional?

        • I bought the Chinese ZUI version with Widevine L1 working. Play store is working and 90% of it is in English (the rest are some apps I don't care about and Lenovo store).

This ROM also seem to have really good battery life.

      • Like @giBiLatoR says, does this mean you you have a an english rom with Widevine and updatates?

  • Could someone please recommend a sturdy case for this? Cheers

  • +4

For those wondering about a keyboard case. You can get the official keyboard case that connects via the pogo pins for a whopping US$83.01 (~A$125.03) with the coupon AENYA10 - someone may find it cheaper.

Alternatively the AJIUYU Bluetooth keyboard case for US$33.26 (~A$50.10) is better value. Plus it has a little cut out for the compatible precision pen, which is extremely hard to find as I believe it has major supply issues in China.

When searching for accessories make sure it's compatible with the models TB132FU or TB138FU.

    • Thanks for the helpful posts!

    • which is extremely hard to find as I believe it has major supply issues in China.

In saying that I've noticed MeMall have restocked for around US$70 before discounts.

    • I bought the AJIUYU Bluetooth keyboard case and it does not have a cut out for the precision pen… Half the keyboard also stopped being responsive with only a few weeks of use.

      • Really? Mine has the cut out. You just need to lift the little fold to show it.

  • How does it compare to the Pixel Tablet? ( I have some Google store credit that would make the tablet the same price as this one).

  • Guys, is it worthwhile getting this instead, $40 more, SD870 though, but bigger screen. USD $226.39 after discount.
    Xiaoxin Pad Pro 12.7 inch

    • +2

There's no global version of the Pad Pro 12.7" yet so the "global ROM" installed is a fake stitched up ROM. Basically means you'll have an unlocked bootloader with no OTA updates and no Widevine L1 DRM for Netflix HD. It's possible the ROM may be buggy and mistranslated too.

      • Thanks Clear, looks like the chinese rom is only $4 more. Is it worth getting? I can read chinese, don't watch Netflix but need Youtube.

        • Chinese ROM has English available. It's not 100% but pretty close.

        • I'm running the Chinese ROM on the snapdragon version without any issues.

  • Why does total amount of mine shows $306.51 with tax $30.60?

    • +2

It's based off the current Mastercard rate and not the AliExpress or PayPal inflated rate.

If you have a card without currency conversion fees added to PayPal you make the AliExpress currency USD, checkout with PayPal and at the screen to choose your payment method you choose the card and select currency options to bill in USD. Then you get the current exchange rate.

      • Awesome, thanks Clear
        Cheers

  • What's the pen support for something like this? Is it acceptable as a note taking device or stick with an iPad?

  • +1

I have owned the SD and MediaTek versions. The SD is superior and I'd recommend everyone to buy the SD version over this MediaTek one.
