  • Can I use this for my existing number?

    • -2

      Id say , yes !

      • +1

This is on sale now at Vodafone & Officeworks but not with 4000 EDR Points.

        • Will officeworks price match costco?

        • The direct Vodafone deal has a bonus 90GB data if activated by 22/02/24 Does anyone know if Woolworths has the same bonus data too ?

    • +5

If your existing mobile number is already with Vodafone, then no. You need to port out to another service providor, then port back in using this starter pack. Otherwise, yes good to go.

      • @jeffreychow - thanks, what is the cheapest way to port out these days?

        • Buy a $4-5 SIM on sale from Coles (from Boost etc) and follow the instructions on the website. It's pretty easy to port in and out

        • +1

If you are already with Vodafone prepaid, you can call them up to apply the new starter pack credits to your existing number. The only thing they can't do is apply the international call minutes, so you lose those but save on having to port out.

        • Kogan $5 esim, Instant.

      • thanks

        • Be prepared to have up to 3 working day wait for each port out though. I wouldn't be starting the process on a Friday.

          • @Robc: Well, if you get one of those 1 month kits with enough data, you are better using that for the entire month anyway, for the best value, no need to port out and back in so quickly :)

    • If you dont mind half a network.
Vodafone just shut down their 3G network.
Coverage was bad enough with it let alone without it.

  • What's Vodafone like these days?

    • apparently they will no longer have 3g services starting this year. you're screwed if you need to use your phone anywhere outside metro areas.

    • +4

Switched from boost. Voda has been better everywhere I use it including the train and toilet at work. Pleasantly surprised for $99 a year

      • how much data with that?

      • +2

Well that's the two most important places covered. I'm sold!

        • I’ve increased my visits to the toilet 3 fold

    • I have used Vodafone for one year before switching to Telstra using the phone around Melbourne East and South East and now have issues with slow speeds in some areas.

    • Depends on your area, Vodafone however would be my last pick for anyone who frequently leaves the confines of the CBD.

      • +1

I live in a regional area and it's fine with mostly 5G service.

If I drive into woop woop to go visit a farm, then it can cross over to Optus roaming for SMS and calls.

        Great value all up.

  • So assuming 10% off with EDR-extra/mobile/insurance, and 420 in points, that is $115 net, just under $10/month.

    • What does this mean - Can you please elaborate?

How is this different from the one from Costco? Thanks.

      • +1

missing shift key - $20 from the 4000 EDR points :)
And we all have our Everyday extra membership for 10% off, once/month. right?

        • +1

By getting this plan … will we be entitled to 10% off per month? I thought that is for Woolies plan only?

          • +2

            @bluebluebird: Woolies only, not Vodafone.

          • +1

@bluebluebird: The point being made is most of us should already get 10% off from being Everyday Extra members and it is being suggested we can use that 10% off when purchasing this sim.

            • +1

              @NotBritishorUK:

most of us should already get 10% off from being Everyday Extra members

Why the (profanity) would we have that?

              • @cakesyy: It was on sale for $35 for year, basically paying for itself within 3 months.

        • Do you mean can we reduce the price of this SIM further if we're already getting 10% off per month from Woolies through another subscription or service?

    • +1

Last time I purchased 2 SIM cards but only got 2000 points (it was supposed to be 2000 points per SIM).

    • Don't think it can stack with 10% off:
      https://mobile.everyday.com.au/support/faqs?c=32

The following products and services are excluded from the 10% off offer:

-Woolworths Online orders (including Woolworths Online business accounts i.e. an account with an ABN or Business Name)

      • Certain products, services, fees or in conjunction with any other offers including online purchases, any vouchers, Delivery Saver items, bag fee and crate service fee, internet cafes, purchases of liquor, smoking/tobacco products and accessories, newspapers, Woolworths Services, Gift Cards (including iTunes), mobile recharge, Everyday Mobile from Woolworths devices or plans, travel cards and tickets, Carpet Care, lottery products and Everyday Market from Woolworths orders

      • Compulsory Third Party (CTP) Green Slip policyholders and Everyday Travel Insurance policyholders

      • I believe recharges are excluded, but not phones or starter packs.

        • Anyone tried this and confirmed? Cheers

          • +2

@LesDon: Yup. Bought 2x Sims earlier.
            Cost: $270 ($300 - $30 Using Everyday Extra)
            EDR: 8000 ($40 worth)
So net cost down to $230 for 2
Means $115 each or $9.58 pcm

  • is it normally $250 selling for $150 in 2 days? - EDIT: yes $150

  • +2

Still $119 at Costco until 8 Jan.

  • Last time they said 2000pts, I only received 1000pts

    • Same they scammed us. 😪

    • Did you contact Woolworths? I'd definitely do this if you weren't provided with the advertised offer.

  • So can I buy this and wait until my current one expires in Feb? Is that what the "activated within 6 months of purchase to avoid expiry" covers?

  • +2

Was $99 at Costco for Black Friday and currently $119 as posted by @mrctan

  • Can we pay with gift card?

  • +3

Boost needs to come to the party and offer 150 deal

  • Seems this plan doesn't come with $5/day Roaming.

    • You can do $5 roaming on prepaid?

  • Kogan Mobile - uses Vodafone as well - if data is important maybe this might be a better deal for some?

    365 days - 300GB - $140
    365 days - 500GB - $180

      No 5g but

      • +1

Does that really matter? What can't you do on a good 4G signal that you can do on 5G?

        • It matters cos you can still get some customer services from Vodafone but according to comments on Kogan thread CS is non existance.

          • @syswong: If customer service is your main concern you might want to reconsider moving to Woolworths also, or any MVNO for that matter. FWIW, my son was previously with Coles (the port over was a week long nightmare) He has now been ported to Kogan with absolutely no issues at all thus far.

            • @shutuptakemymoney101: Out of the ones I had deal with….

Optus: 💩 of 💩, been with them for years last round before leaving them was for the Galaxy Tab and iPhone 11 deal. Still remember their George street store manager tell me to go TIO all you want, but their store only deals with sales not CS.

Vodafone: Average, last major dealing was asking them to add the double data promotion to an existing line. It took several transfer and finally need retention team to get it done as technically I am leaving (port out and back in). Not happy they charge me port out free on my other number, guess I just assume MORE charge me $8 for three months of 150G to make myself feel better.

Telstra: got worse but still the best. The guy spend almost half an hour to activate a prepaid sim for me (that is the CBD store). Shame their team are now much less knowledgeable compare to say ten years ago. Also non direct own stores are quite bad, very rude if you ask them for services, only care about sales. Of course, their ultimate crime is not fixing their signal issue in my area.

Boost: Not bad, guess its actually the same call centre as Telstra? The activation error is annoying but seems to be same as Telstra

Amaysim: Use to be quite good, have not called them lately as I only use them in my spare phone and working ok so far with the annual 60Gb 50% off special.

    • 300GB is $160

  • Can activate on esim?

    • Not sure if it can be activated on esim but can confirm it can be converted to esim at a Vodafone store once activated.

  • Can Vodafone network receive messages while overseas as long as you're connected to a Wi-Fi? I'm using boost at the moment and it does that.

    • No, though you can probably receive SMS over roaming for free.

Going overseas, stick with Telstra and resellers, inc Boost, to get VoWifi, for voice and SMS.

  • Does this sim support 5G?

    • To answer my own question: yes.

  • +1

just wondering if this offer would stack with the 'normal' EDR offers like $50 spend for 2000 points?

    cheers

  • Does this include international calls?

    • no. If you need international call, https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/822834 is a better option, which will be expired today

    • The $99 BF Costco was a different plan. This one and the current Cosco sale one (and the others….) is straight 240G plan but with no international call.

This one and the Amaysim pack is good at each own right depends on what you want. Unfortunately you can't have both.

Singal wise also depends on where you are. Amaysim is good even at 4G, just choose to have call dropping issue ever now and then. Vodafone has 5G but patchy. If you are at reginal make sure you check tower location before you buy.

    • Can you add on international calls if needed?

  • Can this be used with NumberSync to add a watch plan?

    • As of today, I think only big three post paid plan can do this….

    • but Woolworths you get 4000 reward point = $20 plus your 10% everyday reward discount. Pay by GC may not work but that can be just me bad luck as many others got it working. that makes the net cost around $110

      • Gc works as sim packs are not considered gcs.

        • Not when I try. Many like to use self check but town hall store manager said that actually cause issues like in my case crushed the terminal.

          Obviously others had different experience……

  • +1

Paid with GC with 10% off plus the EDR $10 off on My account and got 4000 points straight away after payment.

  • +1

Can confirm you can use the 10% off with everyday rewards and also use gift cards - I used the 4% nrma discount and paid with Everyday Pay Wallet

Got the 4000 points as expected and ported to Voda from amaysim in about 5 mins

  • Just to confirm it stacks with 10% off from Everyday Extra, and you get 4,000 points per Sim.

To summarise (and I didn't get extra discount from pre-purchasing discounted gift cards which @DiGiT02 confirmed stacks as well):

Net Cost: $230 for 2 SIMS
    Cost: $270 ($300 - $30 Using Everyday Extra)
    EDR: 8,000 ($40 worth)

Comes out to $115 per SIM or $9.58 pcm

    • Worth noting that the SIM needs to be activated before 15.02.2024 in order to get the bonus 90GB data. Otherwise the standard SIM expires 365 days after purchase if not activated.

      • If we activate before 15.02.24 then the expiry will be 365 days from 15.02.24 or will it be still 365 days from the purchase date ?

        • Once you activate the SIM then the 'plan' is for 365 days from activation.
You just can't activate the SIM more than 365 days from purchase, if that makes sense?

When I bought it this morning, the receipt says You have $30 to save off a future shop. What does it mean and how do I use this offer?

    • You received 4,000 Everyday Rewards points with this deal which is worth $20 for a future shop and then you likely purchased something else when you bought your SIM which added to your current balance of EDR points taking you over the next $10 threshold meaning you have just added $30 of Everyday Rewards Points to your Everyday rewards balance.

      • I only bought this sim card

        • Then I am not sure. Perhaps log into your everyday rewards account and look at activity. It shows everything there.

  • Can confirm you can use the 10% off with everyday extra but wasn’t able to use everyday pay nor gift card. Don’t know why :(

  • I bought one yesterday, can I buy another one and still receive the points? sorry didn't see answer to this anywhere.

  • Missed the Annual everyday extra plan that everyone apparently hoped on. Is there any other offer still running?

    • which plan?

  • $119 at Costco and comes with International minutes

    • The current Costco one still have international? Or you talking about the black friday one?

  • +1

I bought it yesterday and was told that telco stuff can not be used for the everyday extra discount. Called customer service and the person on the phone said the same thing. Could anyone provide with a receipt with everyday extra discount, please? Thanks

    • Here you go: https://files.ozbargain.com.au/upload/48563/109698/woolies_s…

As an FYI the cashier I purchased it from initially said that the Everyday Extra discount won't likely apply but she'd try. She was surprised when it did and explained that the gift cards and such are excluded which is why she thought that it wouldn't work on the SIMs.

      • I have run into a shelf check out machine at Coles that thinks sim packs are gift cards. Took it to the service desk and had it sorted. Didn’t think it’s a human virus too hahaha
