      Plus discounted gift card

      • That's five bucks off with RACV 4% discounted gift cards

        • Yup, other sources are HSBC insta savings, rewards gateway etc

      • +1

I have tried but you can't buy this with GC

        • -1

I bought the Vodafone SIM card(similar deal) with Everyday Pay and GC being the mode of payment. Stacked both 10% monthly discount, GC and 2000 ER.

        • I think you need to try you luck, I was unsuccessful at self check out last time this deal come up. Lucky mine was woolies gift card so get it back from CS straight away.

Others in that deal claim they are successful but not sure what gift card they use.

sucks that the best we can get at this price is an optus reseller

    • Great for me because only decent signal is Optus where I live
      YMMV

  • Just got out from an Optus retailer, Circles.Life. 3 months free with More, and lets see where I go next.

    • isn't there a port out fee to escape circles.life?

      • I’m not yet charged for the last month bill. However, I was getting 42GB for $15 and was about to get $5 off $15 for the next 6 months for a referral. But, had to let go.

      • Nope, it’s a month to month contract
        No exit fees for me

Poor network compare to boost and Woolworths mobile

    • +1

Plus it’s a 4G only. Poor reception in the city areas too!

    • +1

Not where I am. More telecom has 5G but i switch to Amaysim at least once three times a week. Its 4G but fast and stable compare to More which is absolutely garbage. Same think when I was on the Mate deal, I actually ported out of Mate before it finish because its unusable.

    • +2

I am on Amaysim now, but have been on voda, boost and woolworths before. Around 4000 postcode, my experience agrees with @SydBoy, Amaysim is the worst.

      • my point was that they have bad network and they want to charge premium prices is laughable … it should be $89/year same as kogan … !!!

      • Went from telstra network to optus today, already noticeably worse coverage and data speeds. Sitting in traffic between Brisbane and Gold Coast, I had no data at all for over half an hour, network was too congested. Never happened with Telstra (Aldi and Boost).

        • Network coverage map are a lot of BS but sometime its worth looking at….

Optus itself is quite patchy in QLD and between Brisbane and GoldCoast is almost 4G only. Telstra on the other hand has the whole corridor cover with 5G hence the difference you experience.

Interesting how Telstra willing to put so many coverage in that area but not a populated suburb like mine in South Sydney.

        • +3

Mate yesterday the networks were impacted due to power outage because of severe thunderstorms night before. I am on Boost and I had the same issues yesterday on that route.

      • -1

Agree, su h bad reception around Brisbane

    • +2

Woolworths mobile reception isn't great from my experience.

      • they recently changed to telstra so it is not as good as boost but still far better then amaysim and coles .. !

however, woolworths isn't value for money any more …!

        • +3

They've been Telstra wholesale network for years

    • Yikes, I'm on Woolworths now, don't know how it could get worse than this… Had much better time with Catch and Coles mobile…
EDIT: And some Vodaphone reseller I forgot now, maybe it was Kogan.

With Woolworths near peak times it's just constant dropouts and speeds close to dial-up…

Finally a 12 month Sim deal with international calling and Telstra network! Thanks OP

    • +13

      It's optus network not telstra

    • The $99 Orbic tablet includes 6 months of Telstra, though only 20GB, and international calls too. I've not tested how many countries.
"my telstra" does not show any usage or limit for calls, just for data.

      • where did you see this?

        • +1

The tablet is in the same catalog, often discounted to $99.
Comes with SIM included, though not advertised. Does 5G too now. (SIM, not the tablet)

  • +5

strange that no decent boost 12 month deals in this boxing day sale.

  • +3

Saw this while making the half price specials for Woolies! Great deal OP!

  • +1

Optus network? Fvck that for a joke

    • +5

Optus network is better where I am, less dropouts then telstra and Vodafone, particularly in the Sydney CBD.

  • +1

How long do you have to activate? Mine expires 22/02

    • I also want to know this - when to activate by date?

    • -1

Usually these have 12 months. Safely 6

    • +3

I just brought one and at the back it says activate within 12 months of purchase

  • If we activate 2 months later will we get the 2000 bonus point?

    • Bonus points will be credited instantly

  • anyone knows if this needs to be activated by 3 or 12 months ?

    • +4

I just brought one and at the back it says activate within 12 months of purchase

  • +2

I’ve been with both Boost and More yet my secondary Amaysim plan works better than either of them.

    • I second that with my hand and feet.

  • +1

This or the Voda pack from Costco for $119? I assume the Voda comes with 5g whilst 4g for Amaysim.

    Any suggestions please?

    • +1

I bought Voda pack for my wife because of 5G temptation because she wasn’t getting proper 4G Optus network reception in her Circles sim. She says the experience is more or less similar. I’d go with Voda if you’re a city dweller as 5G gives you higher bandwidth.

      • +1

thanks. Just bought the Voda pack.

    • Does costco have any special promotions or offers for SIM cards?

        • Thanks, mate. Just snagged one from Costco. They've got plenty on the shelves

  • +1

Is this for new customers only?

    • Also like to know

    • Its a sim kit so yes, you cant load the plan on existing Amaysim connection.

Just port out (preferably non Optus operator) and port back in.

      • is there a limit on how long we need to remain on the voda/telstra network before porting back?

    • Yes

      • Thanks

  • Would like to know the activation date. I was previously with amaysim, can I port the same number back?

  • +1

    Kogan mobile deal or this?

There are the smaller sized packages. Wondering which one I will get better coverage from?

    https://www.kogan.com/au/buy/kogan-mobile-prepaid-voucher-co…

    • +1

No Int'l calls with Kogan in case that matters and is Vodafone network.

    • Amaysim

  • Anyone know if this charges for call forwarding/diversions to local numbers?

    • According to the critical information call division is not included

      • Thanks. dam. was hoping it would just work on the unlimited plan - it's free with Boost/Telstra.

        • Catch Connect doesn't charge for call division. That is where I will going next after my Boost plan ends.

          • +1

@deansm18: I dont think they do eSim? Currently Everyday (Woolworths) mobile might be my best fit.

          • @deansm18: Now that is a very interesting feature. Good for people with company number so they can divert their calls when on leave. But then I wouldn't trust Catch with a business number!!

Is that divert o all Australia numbers?

  • Does it support eSIM?

    • Yes, it does

    • Yes. One selects during activation.

  • +1

Can anyone confirm this can be paid with Giftcard?

    • +2

Okay, went to the shop this morning, paid with Wish giftcard no hassle.

      • what type of giftcard did you use? I've tried with a WISH and it showed an error at selfcheckout

        • You can't self checkout SIMS as CS has to enable them.

  • Anyone know if I'll be able to receive text messages overseas with this plan?

    • You'll need to buy the roaming pack. I think amaysim is the only provider who offers roaming pack lasts for 365 days.

      • I believe any phone plan can receive sms overseas without roaming. To send sms or send & receive calls you need roaming.

So if you can convert this to E-sim it makes a good credit card code receiving option while you use OS local sims for data.

    • +2

I'm able to get SMS overseas without a roaming pack with Amaysim….

    • +1

I'm with Amaysim and I was able to receive SMS while overseas without roaming. I believe it works for supported countries only

      • Without roaming? That's not possible. By definition, when you are overseas, you are roaming, with a little 'R' appear next to the signal strength.

Without a roaming pack? Yes, that does work.

        • Was able to receive SMS for free without turning on Roaming. You only need to turn roaming on if send SMS/make calls

          Welcome to Vietnam!
You currently don't have an amaysim product that supports International Roaming which means you won’t incur any additional charges and will continue to receive incoming SMS while overseas free of charge.
To make and receive calls, send SMS and use data while travelling overseas turn the International Roaming settings on and check out our International Roaming Pack options in the amaysim app.

  • +2
    • Does this include when roaming overseas, 4G only?

I roamed with Optus recently and got 5G in the UK and Europe.

  • +3

    I've just moved to Amaysim.
Was with Coles Mobile, however they've recently totally priced themselves out the competitive market space.
Drastically more expensive than Amaysim with Woolies.

    • +2

Multi people had mentioned, They don't care, which I agree.

In the old days the big three don't want to deal with those small spending customer so they flop them off to MVNOs. Now they just don't want them at all, full stop.

      • +1

Yeah they're thinking they can offer heaps more data, and then justify the massive price hike. Knowing full well, a vast majority of people don't use or need that extra data in the first place.

  • +2

Thanks OP. Just bought 2, plenty of stocks left at Vincentia
