Different class… This box is physically much smaller. Eg. Can't imagine you mount that NUC on the back of a monitor.

Been eyeing these units for a long time. The price is normal and discounts are fake.

It's either $599 limited deal, or $799 with $200 coupon, or $999 reduced to $599 lightning Prime sale. Goes up in price for 2 days then back to $599. So that's the actual price.

Reviews are very mixed on these. Performance seems decent but lots of Wi-Fi connectivity issues and various odd issues reported so haven't pulled the trigger.

    • yes always seen it at this price.

also at the time I was looking at it (the modern looking silver one that's linked), there were some pretty horrid reviews claiming poor design. I can't remember exactly but something very serious I think it had to do with the cooling system malfunctioning resulting in the PC cutting power than turning back on over and over.
those reviews aren't there anymore. suss.

    • I'm guilty of paying way too much for Ayaneo 5700U Mini PC (A$300ish) but I couldn't resist the retro design that really sets it apart from the others. Pairs well with my Lofree Block.

    • Doesn't the ACCC frown at this kind of thing?

  • in this day and age no thunderbolt/usb-4 is pretty disappointing

  • No cheqp sub 200 mini pc deals in a whilr missed the kamrui 99$ 16gb n95 one

I got one of those and mine failed in a couple of days.

      • Sorry to hear… mine is still churning fine to this day although I haven't swapped out any parts besides adding an SSD SATA.

  • Can anyone recommend a media player for my grandpa? Must be able to play 4K without dropping frames, must power a hard drive via USB, must be reliable (for my sake).

Was looking at the beelink's over Black Friday, but some reviews inconsistently suggested that 2.5" hard drives weren't working on USB power + the devices were a bit unreliable

    • Nvidia shield would do all that. Even upscales content to 4K.

    • Amazon fire cube is pretty cheap ATM, been using it for the last couple of days, works solid

      • how much did you get it for?

        • $110 gtonTGG but it was also #$98nat Amazon

    • Exactly what im after old intel nuc died need a new one for grandpa completely forgot to consider nvidia shield and amazon stuff. Need it to have whatsapp to opek up youtube links

      Refurbished HP T640 thin client?

      Ryzen 2.4 GHz 2C/4T for Windows 10/11
2x DDR4 2400 MHz sodimms to max 32 GB, usually comes with 8 GB
M.2 socket for gen 3 NVMe SSD
      gigabit ethernet
may come with M.2 wifi with internal antennae - check when buying
      lots of USB 3 ports, including 2 x 10 gigabit, 1 x USB C
lots of DP ports, so only usable with DP monitor, or with HDMI monitor through a DP->HDMI cable
      no-fan = totally silent
      enterprise quality/reliability

$160 + SSD of your choice + extra RAM if needed + Windows

Of course there's a lot of other refurbished thin clients that would also do the job, some probably better, you just need to know enough to know what you're getting.
