Free Burrito (Credit Worth $12.90 - $14.90) @ Guzman Y Gomez via App (New Users Only)

1540

Note: This is not a duplicate - As the last post has been more than six months since it was posted.

This is a well known reoccuring deal where if you register for a new Guzman Y Gomez account under a different email, phone number and phone device serial ID (new customer), you will be eligible to claim a free full sized burrito (or any other item, with a credit of $12.90 to $14.90 - price depends on the store cost of the burrito, this can be different depending which store you order [eg. Adelaide priced GYG is different to Sydney priced GYG]).

The title has been changed from $11.90 - $12.90 to $12.90 - $14.90 due to inflation and price changes to the burrito value depending on where you are located. Additionally, the Free Burrito may be claimed within 6 months of signing up.

Note:

  • They save the Device ID so you can't use the same device if you've already used it to claim the Free Burrito in the past. Workaround - and this was from the direct word of a GYG employee themselves - Delete the app then re-download it, ensuring you sign out before deleting it. Before redownloading it, reset your device's IP address by going into Airplane mode for about 45 seconds then back to data or wifi. Then create a new account.

  • Requires SMS Text verification with an Australia Mobile Number to get the Free Burrito credit.

Here I come with my 60 boost sim numbers

    • -3

      I believe you. 😆

    • +1

Wait for a deal with 60 burners phone.

    • +3

Yup, doesn't work with fresh install

  • +21

There is 0% chance that airplane mode will change your device's ID.

    • +1

Agree, I did try last time but the free burrito didn't showed up

    • Second that. Not working with the airplane mode.

    • Yeah think that's an urban myth. Didn't work on mine either

    • +1

May be android studio is the way to go

    • +4

Turning Aeroplane Mode on and off only changes IP address it does not change the IMEI device number that is permanent.

      • And only on mobile data, not wifi… lol

      • My phone has two IMEI’s but I doubt I could swap them around.

Explain my 56 accounts so far…..

    Shame, no extra profit!

Seem to be mixing up IP address and Device ID

    Android Identifiers

    1. Telephone Number (IMEI, MEID, ESN, IMSI)
      For devices with a SIM
This unique ID can be IMEI, MEID, ESN or IMSI. They can be defined as follows :
IMEI for International Mobile Equipment Identity : the Unique Number to identify GSM, WCDMA mobile phones as well as some satellite phones
MEID for Mobile Equipment IDentifier : the globally unique number identifying a physical piece of CDMA mobile station equipment, the MEID was created to replace ESNs (Electronic Serial Number)
ESN for Electronic Serial Number : the unique number to identify CDMA mobile phones
IMSI (International Mobile Subscriber Identity) : the unique identification associated with all GSM and UMTS network mobile phone users

    2. Device ID or Serial Number
Devices without telephony services like tablets must report a unique device ID that is available via android.os.Build.SERIAL since Android 2.3 Gingerbread. Some phones having telephony services can also define a serial number. Not all Android devices have a Serial Number, this solution is not reliable.
This is the serial of the device, which should persist even a factory reset.
BEFORE 2.3 Gingerbread, this is not given away!!!

    3. AndroidID: (3 parts)
This will be set at the first boot (either with a brand new device, or after a factory reset). As implicated, it does not survive a factory-reset
There's a second "Android_ID" which is generated and used by the Google Services Framework (GSF), and thus often referenced as "GSF ID". Behaves basically like the AndroidID mentioned before (e.g. doesn't survive a factory-reset), and co-exists with it.
Furthermore, there's the GAID (Google Advertising ID), which can be reset by the user via the Google Settings app.

During "normal operation" (i.e. as long as you not factory-reset your device or reset the GAID), all these IDs can be used to identify the device. When using multiple users (via user profiles) on a device, all except the DeviceID would even identify the user (profile).

To my knowledge, all those IDs are available across all Android versions (at least across those which are currently relevant, i.e. GB/2.3 and up). The last two obviously only if GApps are installed – so on devices running a Custom ROM without GApps, they might not exist.

    -4. UUID
    Instalation ID
As the requirement for most of applications is to identify a particular installation and not a physical device, a good solution to get unique id for an user if to use UUID class.

    -5. MAC address from wifi

    • Thank you for the long post, do you have a solution?

    • its better to pay someone 5 bucks i now a discord server who still sell them for 5 bucks, so its better to buy rather than doing all these.

  • The airplane mode workaround doesn't work anymore. Updated method needed.

  • GyG sucks so they have to give it away.

They're ok if you enjoy a burrito which consists of 90% rice filling.

      • +4

And the rice isn't properly cooked.

      • -1

        and another 90% sodium.

very little on their menu is under 2000 mg sodium per single meal serving, which is the recommended daily limit.

'clean' and 'fresh' they say? both non-legal terms that don't mean diddly..

        • Can't you just drink more water if you have consumed too much sodium?

          • @donman92: Hypothetically you can but excessive water consumption means you lose other things you need in your body (magnesium, potassium, amino acids etc).

          • +1

@donman92: No, you need to take potassium.

      • I ask for no rice

      • Agreed. And the remaining 10% is wasted space.

    • +2

Have to agree, had it for the first time Friday night. Had no taste or seasoning, was messy also. Much better making at home.

    • Since they removed the Barra I don’t go much more.

  • +8

I've been pairing burner sims and Android x86 on a live boot USB to farm these free burritos. (Really finicky to set up the app on it though.)

Previously a burner android phone that's been factory reset has also worked for me.

    • Blue stacks or something else?!

    • Do you end up paying at least $5 for the Sim? Eg Lebara.

      • Depends if Boost Mobile is playing nicely

      • The burner sims vary in price (eg boost cashbacks). But for me I use the long expiry Sim for my real number + burner sim churn for data, outgoing calls and sms as my phone "plan". So a lot of the cost is built-in anyway.

  • +2

Created an account for the first time, when I go to order a burrito I dont see any option for a free one? Im up to the stage where its asking me for payment details.

    • Sometimes that happens. Lost number.

    • you have to add it from the main page and click order then add it to cart from the ordering page.

      • I dont see any option to add it on the main page

        • Ok then it might just not work for you

        • On the app, select the "MY GyG" on the bottom right.

It should show under the MY GYG Rewards.

        • Think you got to confirm your email address. Changed things for me.

  • would using bluestacks / a smart phone emulator work?

    • +2

I tried that, but it didn't work. Not sure why.

    • Worked for me, and previously I have registered with Fire TV silk browser as a new user/ device

      • Perhaps I'll try it again.

      • How did you do this? The Gomex Rewards requires signing up via a mobile app. The app isn't in the Amazon Appstore. Sideload?

        • You could register new account in a browser but seems to be changed now

      • I am trying again and cant get it to work. Why does the NEXT button disappear when I am adding signup details? I cant progress because there is no option to.

        • All fields are required except date of birth on the next page. Are you using the app? I couldn't use browser now.

          • @Paul B: I am using the app on a virtual machine android x86.

How did you get the Guzman app on Bluestacks? It says the app isn't compatible with the device. Been trying to fix this for hours on end.

            • @Aidan9800: Awhile ago I remember just adding an android device with a large enough screen size so I could see the next button. I couldn't find a scrollbar if that is the problem you had.

              • @Paul B: I have just managed to get the app on Bluestacks. There is still no next button on the register screen. I have a high screen resolution (1440x2560) and there is blank white space below the fields, half the screen has blank space. I am so lost, how did you do it?

Edit: just tried with the max resolution and the next button still disappears instantly when I press to enter info in any field.

                • @Aidan9800: I just tried again. There is a bug, but you can go back arrow top left then sign up button again and I can select next when filled in details

I wouldn't be too surprised if they pull out this offer soon.

    • +1

you realise that this has been a deal since gyg opened, right?

      • I believe it's been there since their redesigned app launch. And you do realise that every other fast food chain has been screwing us of late?

        • I was getting free gyg 10 years ago with the app. Iirc it was even easier back then.

Maccas doesn't check anything apart from the email address. Seems pretty easy to me

The most painful freebie to go through. Rather HJs with a classic whopper😋

Works for me. I use Oppo Reno Z phone and go to Guest user with Start over option then install the app

Only issue I have to put the sim on different phone for the verification SMS

    • You can't put it in the same phone?

      • Yeah not same phone as guest user mode is not permitted to read sms

        • I can add the permission with my pixel phone. Just make sure you do that before switching the user to get ready for the sms.

    • I think that means it doesn't work right? You need another phone that hasn't been used before to receive SMS. Unless I'm missing something.

      • +1

You can put Sim in any phone that's able to receive SMS.

The guest user phone can be other phone where gyg app will be used

  • Where do they sell burritos for $12.90? I thought they are all $13.90 plus now..

    • +1

Nah some stores in Adelaide still have them for cheap =)

Other than that, I know metro NSW, QLD, VIC all have their prices jacked up by Guzman Y Gomez.

  • The hard part is it will show $0 on the receipt and that store manager will know and possibly remember you as they might need to write something down for it from my seeing. It's not that bad if you claim it once in a while. Good luck to all.

    • +1

I've done it the same time at multiple stores - Nothing has ever happened… Yet

    • Done it a lot of times honestly at the same store, they don't seem to care!! Being paid mininium wage, I don't think a free burrito claim will bother them, unless of course you do like 30 free orders at once, that will raise some red flags for sure.

      • Agree with a busy store and busy hours, however, at some stores they have only like 2-3 orders at the time I pick up, the store manager can see easily the $0 transaction and possibly notice that this's a new (app) customer. Again, if I don't worry, nothing will matter.

        • Yep! 100%. The worst case scenario with these sort of freebie foods is the employees or manager refusing to give you your order. However, never happened to me really. At the end of the day, if you don't try, you won't get anything!
