Free Burrito (Credit Worth $11.90 - $12.90) @ Guzman Y Gomez via App (New Users Only)

1480

Was out and about in Melbourne and saw my favourite fast-food restaurant GYG promoting their app with the free sign-up burritos, so I grabbed one! Figured it'd only wise to do a good 'ol OzReminder for those who haven't seen, or a GYG has popped up in their neck of the woods of late and look to try it.

The exciting Sign-up Burrito at Guzman Y Gomez is now back to the Full Burrito (or any other item, with a credit of $ 11.90 to $ 12.90).

The Free Burrito may be claimed within 6 months of signing up.

Note:

  • They save the Device ID so you can't use the same device if you've already used it to claim the Free Burrito in the past. Workaround - and this was from the direct word of a GYG employee themselves - Delete the app then re-download it, ensuring you sign out before deleting it. Before redownloading it, reset your device's IP address by going into Airplane mode for about 45 seconds then back to data or wifi. Then create a new account.

  • Requires SMS Text verification with an Australia Mobile Number to get the Free Burrito credit.

      Workaround is new

Si, no es nuevo. Babi guling- lol that's actually Mexican cuisine as well- cochinillo asado or toston asado actually the famous dish of Segovia and Madrid. Man I'd kill for Bali duck, Bali green rice, sambal matah Bali, and roast pile of udang. Washed down with litres of gazpacho and seconds of tapas, chorizzo burrito and jamon chapitas or Pabellon Criollo arrrrggg so delicioso… don't.. care.. about.. weight.. will eat healthy next week.

There used to be some dodgy discord group i was in where a bloke would sell accounts with these free burritos for like $1 a pop, pretty much had lunch at work everyday for $1 for a year it was great while it lasted.

    • You bought hacked accounts 👍

      • Sounds like he bought $1 burritos with a side of guilt

      • Naa they were newly generated accounts, prob just used not real emails and phone nums.

      • More likely he made a heap of accounts using bots.

        • Well he would still need to verify the SMS. How did he manage that?

Someone here a few years ago gave me a link to an app that gave you $11.95 of free food each time. I put on about 8kg due to that app. Thankfully they eventually shut it down but the 8 kg remain.

Poverty liposuction? Oatmeal porridge. Traditional hard times food. Eat oat porridge no sugar for breakfast and lunch for a week, small dinner, no sweets, no bread, no sugar, you can use fruit to garnish the porridge. you can have what's even quite rare today- savoury oats. One UK hard times meal- Groaty Dick is extremely filling- real coal miner's lunch. Beef, groats (I use oats), leek and stock or stock Beaujolais or bordeaux if you prefer cooked for hours. Absolutely superb, very filling. Swap out your rice or potatoes and mash with oats porridge. Hungry? Oats with something- preferably boiled (it swells the oats and easier to digest). Chilled boiled oats and a scoop of ice-cream- takes some getting used to but tasty. Then you've got oatcakes which are like a UK burrito- but oatmeal instead of corn. These can be sweet or savoury.
You'll loose a tonne of weight, always be full- help your bowel health enormously- eat a cholesterol killing superfood, give your heart a huge makeover, poop like a brewery horse- but not be windy and awful pangs like if you fast and suffer like me .

This is an example of what happens when you get on ozbargain whilst drunk.

      • Does it still work? Can you share?

    • +1

Haha I did that with Sim card slutting for ages , new number new account 😂

    • +1

That it was.. I was in mourning when that tom foolery came to an end. Cheered me up during COVID

    • any new dodgy discord groups to share? 🤣

    • The problem is same face and same store?

      • +1

Not usually an issue at busy stores.

        • if it can be online order then yes it should be fine hey

      • My local gyg did not give a shit luckly, they knew me by name and prob knew i was on some dodgy shit but dont get paid enough to know. I went to a different gyg one time and they refused to give me the food so i literally just said "oh thats a shame, alright guys have a good day" and they didnt care much tbh

    • Does that group still exist and can they still do free burritos for $1?

    • Could they not figure it out given you bought from the same store for a year?

The main barrier for me re the workaround is getting new phone numbers. Any suggestions?

    • +1

Boost sims are posted regularly with cashback so usually free or gain a couple dollars

    • +1

If your phone is e-sim compatible there are a few carriers that give will give you 1 week free trials before auto-renewing. Optus is one that I've used to get a free burrito previously

  • Still yet to have a decent Guzman Y Burrito over here in SA.

    • They are opening new stores in SA thanks to OTR, just had some GYG today at Grote St actually.

  • +5

They've recently cranked up their prices big time. I mean so has every other fast food joint, but it's been really noticeable GYG.

    • +1

$1 for a drizzle of sour cream was the straw that broke the camel's back for me.

      • +1

        $13 for a rice wrap.

  • How to confirm as Ive seen nothing in the app since last time signed up. I did received an email saying to claim a free borito tho

    • This confused me too. But it's not really free burrito, they actually just give you a discount. You can contact customer service if you did not get it.

      • I came in and asked the staff yesterday. They had no idea of this. They asked if there was a barcode. I ended up paying $14.4 :(

        • +1

Store staff are probably not trained enough about app. On the app tap My GYG > Contact us

  • thanks. I had never used my freebie as I have never tried their food and forgot and it went out of my account. Just got a new account, so I will try it in the next couple of weeks with my voucher deal

  • +5

Burritos are $13.20 now near me? Not $11.90 or $12.90

    • Must be inflation (or city surcharge)😔

    • Same here.

    • I remember through Covid when you could get the burrito bowls on the app for $9.90. Good times they were

  • +2

What other deals are like this where a mobile is the bottleneck resource?

  • great

  • I wonder if this store logs your phone's mac address, I have dual sims and have already gotten this, wouldn't mind a second one.

  • +1

I signed up but no credit yet, any issues for anyone else?

  • +2

any tips to make these better, last one seemed like a rice wrap

    • +3

Add all the free condiments like jalapeños, onion, coriander and sauce. Not much you can do with it if it’s too much rice though. You could try swapping rice for lettuce and you may end up with more meat. Otherwise mini nachos or mini enchiladas seem better value now.

    • +1

      free: Habenero sauce, onions, coriander

    • +1

I was dinning in, my kid asked for extra chocolate on sundae (after scraping just the chocolate and none of the ice cream), the girl in the store basically just gave a new sundae and extra tub of chocolate.

If your order isn't what you expected, tell them. They'll fix it. Though don't be my kid, that's basically misuse 😂

In store you can tell the staff to do some variations too, like less rice more lettuce.

      • Already carrying the torch for the next generation of OzBargainers…

  • +2

    Yea hasn't worked…

  • hmmhm

  • +1

    Will this work with referral?

  • -1

Did anyone mange to get a second one? didnt work for me

  • +1

Nobody yet has mentioned if they're on iOS or Android, and if it's working or not.

  • +1

New Sim, new device ID, couldn't get it to pop up for the second day

  • Everytime I try to add the free burrito to the cart the app crashes. It will add a full price burrito normally, not when clicking the free banner. Uninstalled, re-installed, tried different device, no joy. So sad.

    • sneaky operation eh

  • Has this worked to get a second burrito for anyone? Hasn't worked for me

    • For me neither

      • i've now managed to score multiple free burritos.

        • Anything I need to know?

  • Didn’t work I followed step.! New mobile new email

    • Even with a new device?

  • +1

For Samsung users, setup secure folder, move GYG into it and delete secure folder once done with it. Rince and repeat

    • Do I need an active SIM in the Samsung to do this? Have an old samsung lying around. If a SIM is required, might be worth buying a prepaid to do this?

Or is there a Pixel alternative that would work?

      • Don't think an active sim is required, Just need a new number for phone number verification in the GYG app.

        • +1

I have a separate phone, I reset the device ID, then downloaded the app and signed up with a new sim, but got no reward.

          • @Aidan9800: The instructions to reset device ID (go into airplane mode for 45s) didn't actually reset the device ID on the phone I tested this with.

            • @quop: To reset the device ID, I use a jailbroken phone and a reset device ID app

              • @Aidan9800: Ahh so you did a proper reset but still no reward? I just found a similar app on Android so was going to give that a go…

                • @quop: Yeah, im unsure of the variable affecting my ability to get the free burrito

                  • @Aidan9800: Hmm I tried a device ID reset on an Android and that worked but the GYG new account didn't get a reward. Maybe that loophole has been plugged.

                    • @quop: I used a new sim card so a new ip address, also new email and new number. Not sure what else to try

                      • @Aidan9800: See RacingBull's post above here - didn't work even with a new device. So maybe GYG no longer offers free burrito? Still says so on their website tho?

                        • @ifuggedxyz: I got one on an old spare phone the same day RB posted. That was with a new SIM/number & email, and I don't know if I ever had the app on that phone before but even if I did it would've gone through a factory reset. All subsequent attempts with that same phone but new SIMs and emails haven't worked.

                          • @quop:

All subsequent attempts with that same phone but new SIMs and emails haven't worked.

Using the same device id or a new one?

                            • +1

@ifuggedxyz: First of the subsequent was following the airplane mode instruction which I later realised doesn't actually change the device ID (at least not on my device). 2 other attempts after changing device ID using an app. The last one of those followed these steps:
                              - Sign out of GYG app
                              - Uninstall GYG app
                              - Change device ID
                              - Reboot (& confirm device ID changed)
                              - Download GYG app
                              - Sign up new account

                              • @quop: New phone, new SIM, new email with new number.

                                Still no free burrito. 😭

Emailed customer service and their reply was that the "system" had flagged that I had already had a free burrito on another account. But they could not tell me which other account due to "privacy". 🤦

                                • @new2onlineshopping: To be clear, used completely different name and date of birthon new device. Maybe that's why they quoted privacy concerns.

Guess GYG aren't giving out free burritos anymore?

                              • @quop: Hi there,

Could you elaborate how to change and confirm device ID? Many thanks. Tried airplane mode method. Total failure.
