  • Does any one know or remember when you buy from boost, do you need to sign up first?
(Thus making you use that particular email/number)
As I need to do the port out and in.

    • That doesn't matter at all, I've used the same email address a hundred times and its worked just fine

  • Dumb question, what happens after 12 months?
Can you recharge and keep the same number or have to get a fresh pre-paid Sim.

    • +2

You can recharge and keep the same number

    • You can recharge but not sure how cost effective that is, and most people get a new starter kit and jump on the Boost chat to get their number transferred. I'm on my 3rd and have bought another for January.

  • This or match officeworks with cellpoint and buy it for $236 with the 5% off additional.

    • +2

      Officeworks

      • How to get office work price match this?

    • How do we get officeworks to price match this?

      • -1

        Maybe ask them to

    Gimmicks lol

  • Does boost use the full telstra network even with 5g? Confused as to why this aint as popular if its pretty much telstra 5g for a whole year at a good price per gb whats the catch

    • It's capped to 100mbps now, but uses 5G yes

Recharge… Expiry Period … Download speed up to
      $5-$15 7 days 150Mps
      $22-$45 28 days 150Mps
      $55 28 days 250Mps
      $70 28 days Uncapped
      $230-$365 12 months 150Mps

      • +1

This for 12 months 150mps aint bad… seems like even the telstra 300 sim card deal earlier this week is also 150mps restricted despite being telstra

        • +1

My home wifi is only 50Mbps and still feels quick enough. 150 should be fine for most ppl.

    • That said - I just activated a new $300 Boost sim and speed tested at 400+ Mbps down, so maybe the cap hasnt started yet.

It is a good deal with Telstra coverage, and is equivalent to the entry level plan of $19/ month that most others have with usually 8-10GB per month, so with this Boost deal you get 20GB per month. But will be slugged a premium to recharge in 12months. The Ozbargain way is to port out and in again to keep same number but then able to buy a starter kit promo that is better deal than a recharge. No esims yet. International roaming add-ons are expensive
and only 40 countries. But like Full Telstra Boost sims do Vowifi and can receive SMS when OS without roaming addon.

    • Boost does have FREE Wifi Calling while roaming which is a huge plus

      • +1

Recharging every year is a bit of a drag tho

        • +2

No, just get another 365 day sim.
Pretty easy and once a year isn't that often.
They are great value vs postpaid plans (I just get the smaller yearly sim).
Checking all these deals daily is a drag lol.

  • Just checked what I paid in Dec 2022: $232.50. So, works out the same. Good deal. I think I had to get the people on the chat to transfer my number to the new sim last time. Bit of effort but this is a good way to have your phone on Telstra.

    • Less effort to port out and port back in?

  • What’s people’s experience, how likely is it that we’ll get an even better deal in the short term, e.g. around Boxing Day sales? This deal looks good judging from the number of upvotes. Looking to get this for the first time, have always been on an expensive postpaid plan with Vodafone.

    • +2

This deal looks pretty good. Haven't been many deals on 365 day Sims for ages.

I got the smaller sim a week or two ago:

Boost $230 SIM Card 12 Months Expiry (Get 170GB Data if Activated by 29-01-2024) for $179.00.

      • Thanks, yes I was too slow to decide on that one. Also not sure how much data I need. I guess I just need to try it for a year. Thanks for the reply.

        • +1

No worries, better off getting the bigger GB Sim if not sure. I have wifi at home and work so don't need too much.

  • Has anybody had any troubles buying this? Whenever I go through checkout and put my card in etc. I get met with a page "Something went wrong". I have talked to support about it and they just keep saying it'll be fixed but nothing has happened. At a bit of a loss as I need a plan real soon

  • Officeworks will not pricematch any cash back offers. But will price match the 270$ offer, ie, the 5% discount will be on the 270, and not post cash back of 230

  • Officeworks doesnt even stock the $300 one? Most are OOS

  • Officeworks in airport west have said no to price matches on telcos

  • Am currently with boost, expiring on 21st. As this is my first time , can I just buy this and recharge? Or do i have to port out and then back in?

    • +1

Port out and Port back in

    • +1

Port out and in, but I've always jumped on the Boost chat and they do it for me, on my 3rd to be 4th Sim now.

The new SIM I ordered on the other deal comes with a porting Sim so may just do that.

  • i'm currently with Belong. Both Belong and Boost use Telstra network.

Am I able to port from Belong to Boost directly? or do i need to port to a 3rd party (amaysim or vodafone) first?

    • Any mobile network to Boost and vice versa works fine. Its only when "Telstra" is one of the networks, you "may" go rogue and may need manual intervention from Telstra support team to get the number transfer going again. So dont worry.

      • Typical bloody Telstra.

You basically have to rely on useful third parties using their site and systems to not have an awful experience.

A whole group of us lost access to their internal system for lodging issues with internet/NBN and then days later a massive outage occurs and we can't lodge anything.

        Just infuriating.

        • Yes always better deals with the resellers. Same goes for sloptus and all of them.

  • Is there a expiry date for when we need to activate the SIM purchase from OW?

  • Ordered Tuesday and received today in Melbourne via StarTrack. Whoa!!
