This looks like it's catered more to the "I need to repair that broken gate outside" crowd rather than the "I'm going to build a gate" crowd. They'd weld for 3 minutes and be done for the day.
If it works like this one then it looks like it'll do what it's designed to do just fine.
3.2 and 2.5 welding rod continuous welding all day
And I'm Albus Potter and I own 51% of Hollywood shares!
I interpret it as, you'll be welding all day continuously to get the job done
Good for landfill
The Aussie voltage is 240v, is this even safe to use?
Was 240v now 230v. You must have missed that one twenty years ago.
We changed to mirror China !In Qld it normally fluctuates between 238 - 239 actually, so it's closer to 240v.. so we get extra POWAR!
Officially its 'between 225.6 v and the maximum at 254.4v'It depends on how far away you are from your distribution transformer. If it's next to your property the voltage can be 250V, if it's far away it can be 230V. There will also be a voltage drop within your property depending on cable length and thickness. Using a long extension lead will add a further voltage drop.
No. It's AC so peak to peak you may see 250 to 260 plus.
@Wombat cave: The standard allowable voltage here is 230V RMS +10%/-6%. However a preferred operating range was introduced in 2011 that stipulates +6%/-2%.
To get peak-to-peak you multiply the RMS voltage by double the square root of two, so peak-to-peak voltage here will range from 305.4V to 357.7V. That's all just academic though, everyone uses RMS when talking about mains voltage in an everyday context.
@eug: Still hurts when you get it wrong !
Thought it was battery powered when I first saw the picture.

Quality clothing seller, now expanding into the welding market.
Look at my fancy over here with clothes made of "fabric" instead of sheet metal like the rest of us.
When welding one wants to reduce the amount of weight in the welding handpiece. The cable (with a typical machine) to the handpiece is slung over your shoulder - reducing weight and improving flexibility. This machine is discounted and likely a bargain (so ticks the bargain box). If you want to weld, with respect, I'd suggest something else as a bog standard stick welder will be more enjoyable in the long run.
