    Will stock up, thanks.

  • Do the coconut briquettes ever go on sale?

    • +2

buy these, add some coconut curry?

    • I've only ever seen them go on special when my local used to get rid of older ripped bags for cheaper which they stopped doing a while back. The problem is that not many people sell the blue bag ones so typical Bunnings means they have no need to match anyone.

Since then I've ended up just getting other brands like Samba when they go on special at other shops. Maybe Aldi should do a Special Buys on them one week :P

Never could get these original Heat Beads to work well for some reason.

  • BENSATIONAL

haha the bunnings MOFOs have exactly matched the coles special price of $6.25 for 4 kg.. 7.5Kg works out to be $11.72 at that rate.

good price, but i prefer lump charcoal.

    • +5

      Lump charcoal brothers unite

    • +3

Same here. Much better result but also more expensive

    • Where to get them?

  • These can contain some chemicals used to bind together saw dust to give it shape, strength etc…
lump charcoal is best, though slightly exy

    • +5

They claim to only use food grade starch for the binder together with salt and sand

      • Thx good to know that! Previous ones different brand that I had checked had no info about it.

        mmm edible carcinogens

        • better than the non-edible ones

      • I've read that page before, I feel like "clean burning mineral carbon" is a euphemism for coal.

  • +2

    Good for Christmas stocking stuffers

  • Thanks OP. Ordered some North Perth.

  • just a question can we reuse them if i am doing a small bbq??

    • +4

yes they can be reused. For me I usually have about 40% usable heat beads left after a ~2 hour bbq session

      • How you extinguished them? Water or put them in airtight ?

        • +5

Close all the vents to suffocate the fire

        • +2

Dont use water. It wont light up properly next time.

    • +1

Yes, but when they are smaller thay might go through the bottom grill. You might need to use them in a heap

  • +1

    I thought that sounded familiar

  • How would these go in a camp fire in place of servo wood? Depending on the location of the service station you seem to get very different density/quality wood.

Could these or something similar be used as a decent replacement or in conjunction with?

    • Would be rubbish. No flames and ambience using these. But good for cooking with especially if you do so with cast iron.
