I wish the usb port was on the left side so that I could use it with my Galaxy Fold

    • +1

I think I saw someone on reddit say that they used an angled USB C extension and some foam or something to pad it out

    • +1

That's GameSir X2 Type-C. I had one. nothing too exited.

    • know the pain, would love to be able to play all the original resident evils with my fold using something like this.

just get a bluetooth based one like BSP-D8 or Gamesir X2 Bluetooth

      • -1

        Bluetooth has input latency.
Maybe not a bigge for some, but it can really affect the gaming experience.

Bought one for my Lenovo y700. It is $93.50 (15% off) with studentbeans code. Change to US region if you have the studentbeans app.

    • didn't even think to check studentbeans 🙃

oh well, $3 extra to gamesir for designing an actually comfy-to-hold for regular hands controller with SNES aesthetic!

      excited!

    • Does it extend enough to fit y700?

      • People on the discord apparently say yes, but even not, I will be modding mine slightly by shaving down the plastic stoppers. There are youtube tutorials for this with people using 12 inch tablets (springs are exposed at that size).

This is a solid deal for a very well recieved controller. Timed nicely with the GTA games popping up on Netflix. I reckon I'll pull the pin. Cheers.

  • All I want is a good quality one that fits iPad mini :(

    • I don't know if the firmware side will be compatible with the Ipad mini, but I will be modding mine to fit the lenovo y700 tablet which is 8.8" (I think its just shaving off 2 plastic stoppers).

      • Works fine with my iPhone 15 so no reason it wouldn’t work with the Mini. It’s about 10mm off fitting my iPad Mini 6, but clipping the plastic posts will make it fit (there’s a YouTube vid showing how to do this).

Now to return the one I bought off Amazon for this one…

  • Is this better than using the PS5 controller (probably better viewing angle) for retro gaming?

    • +1

It's a bit more slim and weight distribution may be better. Could just save the money.

      • was tossing up between getting a dedicated xbox controller for this vs. something like this; but this defs gives switch vibes.

saving money is definitely a plus though…

This is the first telescopic controller I have had that actually feels like you are using the Xbox or PlayStation controller. I can't praise this controller enough. I've had it for about a week and half now and I can't put it down.

Retro Game Corps on YouTube did a good review on this device.

  • This or Backbone 2nd Gen for iPhone 15 pro?

    • +4

Watch retro came corps review on it, he compares

      But IMO this

      https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fBdC6KJeQsI

    • I bought the 2nd Gen BackBone last month. It looks nice but the analog sticks are complete trash, makes playing games that use sticks almost unplayable. I returned it and got the G8, didn't realise this got recently released, it is by far the best telescopic controller out there. I have also had a Kishi V1 and V2 and got rid of them. This makes all of those look like trash. The controls and sticks are full sized and the analog sticks feel exactly the same as Xbox or PlayStation controller. I don't even understand how people can even compare this to BackBone it's not even in the same league IMO.

    • I got Backbone, but cause its smaller and I only want it for travel.

Sadly this doesn't work with older iphone.

    • +3

It's more the case of older iphones not working with usb-c.

  • Hmmm do i pay the premium to amazon to get it for a cheeky last min xmas present to myself…

    • -1

LOL, I paid the $153 to Amazon, had this controller for about a week and half now. Saw this and bought, will return the Amazon one when this one arrives. The controller is amazing!

  • Does anyone know if this is compatible with the Pixel 8 Pro with case?

  • +5

Supports devices with Thunderbolt (USB-C), and not Lightning.

    Very, very frightening me.

(Galileo) Galileo, (Galileo) Galileo, Galileo Figaro, Magnifico.

  • After buying a GameSir X2 Type C Model
and have the type c port fail after less than 2 weeks…

..i went and purchased another GameSir X2 Bluetooth model and has been fine.

But i couldn't bring myself to buy another one of their devices, unless they sell replacement parts/type c connector by themselves

    • Did you try make a warranty claim?

      • Contacted them on aliexpress store, asking if spares can be purchased and they shut down that idea

  • +1

If you want a cheap version look at D8 controllers.

    • I was totally about to buy this as an alternative, but the G8 deal came around at just the right time and I didn't want to go through aliexpress. Still has the hall effect thumbsticks too!

      • I have this G8, you are not going to be disappointed.

  • +2

I have one of these, I can guarantee you, this is the most impressive telescopic controller I've ever owned. I have had BackBone and both Razer Kishi V1 and V2, this thing s**** all over them. Full sized proper controls and analog sticks. Sticks feel exactly the same as Dualsense or Series X controller except even better because they are Hall Effect. If you are on the fence, I strongly recommend it.

  • This thing is really tempting, even though I feel like I won't get the time to use it

  • Anyone have an android hardware recommendation for streaming/emulation? I'm an apple guy, but I want a bigger phone for reading/games without paying $2500.

Is it enough to grab whatever large screen android is on sale for $300 or better to go further?

    • I'd say the best by a fair margin is the Ayn Odin 2. Comes in a bit over $300 but gets you a top tier SOC, active cooling, nice screen, controls etc.

  • Thanks OP, grabbed one. Should be a bit of fun!

  • +2

Grabbed one at the 12% discount even though this deal said expired, as I was on the fence a bit and had one in my cart. If anyone else also has one in their cart with the code applied like I did, it should still work.

  • +2

Looks like the code still works today. Thanks!
