@sumyungguy: No, actually they don't. I've had to buy different chargers for travel because of this..

            • @Plentiful3271: Oh yeah… just checked my collection of 3757 chargers, they're all 220-240V. I now recall, for travel we used to pack a Colgate ProClinical Pocket Pro. iO7 and above have magnetic 110-220V fast chargers. Not sure about the non-iO models.

              • @sumyungguy: It's annoying.. it's something people will obviously travel with. I went to a supermarket in Japan and bought the nastiest cheapo Oral-B electric brush that I could find, just for the charger (and threw away the actual toothbrush). That worked out cheaper than buying a standalone charger.

                • @Plentiful3271: Is the multivoltage worth the swap for travelling then? I do travel overseas 3-4x a year and haven't encountered an issue due to the smart case, but this is a case of better to have it and not need it kinda thing.

            • @Plentiful3271: Which charger would you reckon is better if you don't mind it not being multi voltage.

  • Thanks OP. Got two as I missed out on the 8500 recent deal.

  • is the multivoltage charger variant using that new charger with removable cable? And can this charge on the old chargers?

  • Looks like black Floss Action brush heads are not a thing.. I don't know if my OCD will cope with this…

  • How is this diffeny to it IO?

    • I support it too.

    • -4

It was the Jews land before the Muslims slaughtered and enslaved them, even the word Palistine/Palistinians is derived from the word invaders.

According to your own logic you should support Oral B now.

      • -2

The Jewish exile is a myth. he romans did not scoop up all the jews of palestine and expatriate them in 70CE. Todays Palestinians are the native inhabitants of Israel, they never left, they are the descendents of the biblical jews who share the genetic legacy of arabs, turks and europeans that occupied Palestine.

        • Jews of Palestine.? Lol.

          Like white Australia of indigenous.

It wasn't the Roman, it was the Otterman Empire.

          • @PuppieWayne: First mention of "Palestine" was by herodotus 2500 years ago. Its been in common usage for quite some time.

          • @PuppieWayne: A couple notes…..

Palestine was first mentioned by Herodotus 2500 years ago.

The Ottoman empire arose in the 1500's… They took over from the Malmuks…. Islam arose in the 700's CE.

The Jewish right of return in Zionist thought is based on the history written by Josephus concerning the destruction of the 2nd Temple by Titus in 70 CE.

I dunno man… some of the teeth I’ve seen over there would disagree.

      • Lol !

    • How is that ?

    • +4

Keep politics out of this discussion. It is about the product. Go somewhere else if you want to discuss politics.

  • Maybe just my preference but oral-b types always feel very mechanical and clunky compared to any Phillips Sonicare.

    • +2

Agree. My Sonicare died after my toddler threw it in the shower 😫
Now I’m using this Oral B Power Genius X and I don’t like it at all. The Sonicare feels much stronger and as if it’s cleaning much better. This Oral B just feels like a rotating first generation electric toothbrush. I’m not impressed and will replace it with a Sonicare or Oclean when a good deal comes along.

      • +1

omg i thought it was just me

I had a sonicare diamond something top range many years ago and loved it but it died. then got a low-mid range oral b and the mechanism just felt like a toy. Phillips was up and down i think - oral b just rotates/jiggles felt bad

      • Have you tried the Floss Action heads? I've found these to be much better than the other ones.
I've never tried a Phillips brush but you've got me curious to.

        • I haven’t tried the floss action heads yet. I’ll try those.

The Sonicare was very similar to the Oclean X Pro Elite. I much prefer the sonic cleaning techniques of these compared to the Oral B I currently have.

    • I feel like the Sonicare are nicer overall, but I’m also a bit over the lack of reliability I’ve had from them. Had a higher end Diamond that died under warranty and then 2 years later the warranty replacement died. Got a lower tier one, $100-200 bracket and I’m also on a warranty replacement for that one. In about 6 or 7 years I’m now on my fourth Philips toothbrush.

In all cases it was the motor going loose and making the brush unusable. Extended the life of the diamond a bit by opening it up and tightening it up a bit, but overall for me it’s been a constant fail point. The two brands have different motor behaviours and the rotating motor of the Oral B has served me better over the vibrations of the Philips.

My Oral B that I had previously on the other hand was fine. I replaced the battery in it a few times, but the mechanical aspects always performed well.

So I’m torn…Philips brushes I like but can’t get 2 years out of or the Oral B which for me has been a more reliable brand. Currently own and use a Philips but I’ve grabbed one of these for when my current Philips dies. Chances are now it has an OralB sitting next to it, this 4th Philips will last a lifetime.

    • All mine sonicare( 3, mine, wife, mother in law) all not working after 2 years. Yes, you can get it replaced if you are under warranty. But that’s just extra work and hassle for everything.

On top of that, I think oral B one is more powerful and I can feel my “tooth gap” after I use oral b. I never have that feeling while I was using Philip sonicare.

The oral b my friend got is 10 years now and still going strong.

Don’t waste your money on sonicare. It’s not worth it .

      • I've got a German made oral b that looks the same as the one in this deal and it's been flawless for three plus years including daily use in the shower.

It was a great upgrade from a cheap oral b due to the regulated power (the cheap ones fade as the battery fades) and battery life. All of it's 'special features' are useless to me though. I just want it on full power every use and that's it.

  • Is the dual head brush compatible with this?

  • Got 1. Thanks op

  • I used the PICKUP7OFF to get an extra $7 off it! thanks OP!

    • How?

      • +2

select pick up from parcel locker
        apply voucher PICKUP7OFF
        boom, $7 off

        • wow. That worked. Thanks mate

          • @amsaini15: Doesn't work for me, probably redeemed a while ago? I dunno lol.

        • Works for me, thanks !

        • It doesn't work for me too :'(

  • Can someone share a link to buy extra heads for this one

    • +1

This one uses the same heads as other oral b, right?
The new IO range uses different heads i think

  • What is the difference with 9000

    • Yeah that's what I would like to know too. Happy with my 8500/9000.

    • +1

Practically none, 7000/8000/8500/9000/genius are all rather indistinguishable. The extra features are useless, sensitive mode for people with gum soreness is the only useful one, and they all have it.

  • Do we really need A.I in a toothbrush? Is it A.I?

I bought a similar expensive electric brush and it didn’t last. I regularly washed it out yet the grip still got mouldy and disgusting. It also had this black crap seeping from the motor. This never happened with the cheaper $19 blue models. Lasted about 6 months and I threw it out.

This is all marketing and hardly a deal. Don’t waste your money. In reality, it’s probably the same or slightly better oscillating motor with a different oscillation pattern.

    • was it Oral-B? They have a 2y warranty on them. it might just been faulty.

    • How did it get mouldy? Did you rinse the toothpaste off after brushing?

      • Yeah every time

  • How is this compared to Oral-B Power Toothbrush 4000 White? https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/819750 Is that $40 extra worth to spend?

    • +1

Depends. Functionality wise there's not that much difference. Theres some extra cleaning modes which you probably won't use. Looks slightly better.

Get extra travel case. Which I think it's worth at least $20.

Up to you to decide weather those things are worth $40.

    • +1

Barely any difference, and you would likely get better battery life from the 4000.

  • +1

    If Elon Musk named toothbrushes….

  • How does this compare with the Philips Sonicare?

  • For some reason you convinced me to buy this too. There seems to be so many electric toothbrush deals since Black Friday. Probably about time I start looking after my teeth better. All the ads say this is 100% better than a standard toothbrush.

    • +1

its the rate of contact with the surface, by hand you can brush a few hundred times a minute.. with ultrasonics its into the thousands.

  • Cheer's guess I'll take the move after missing out on the previous 8500 deal.

Anyone know where I can get some good/cheap replacement heads for this? (or at least where they often go on sale - heck what type do they even use)

Maybe should've thought of all this before I purchased it, but here we are.

  • +1

I had one, the main benefit I saw over the other versions is a bigger battery

  • Does anyone have this and know if I can track my child's brushing eg making sure he does 2 min , 3 x a day (he's got braces)…

  • -6

Whoever buys this fails the most simple of IQ tests.

    • +2

I mean if failing an IQ test, makes my teeth cleaner and reduces the amount of times I need to go to the dentist for a clean, then I'll take the L.

This costs $120, it costs me 150-60 to get a clean (I go twice a year). If I can reduce that to once a year, then the savings make up for themselves.

      • -3

Has to be 5X better than the most basic one, which it's not. Straight money sink.

If you do a quick internet gander, you'll find that it's pretty damn simple to replace the battery in most of the basic versions of branded electric toothbrushes.

        • Has to be 5X better than the most basic one

Where you seeing this claim? Curious now

          • +3

@PuppieWayne: Don't think he is claiming it is 5x better, but for the cost (compared to a basic electric tb) it would have to be 5x better to make it a worthwhile purchase.

  • You don’t want to pay more than this oral b doesn’t last I bought one 3 years ago the genius AI model paid a lot more and just stopped working, nothing to do with the battery. I’m happy to get this one at this price and if it goes again at least I didn’t pay as much.

  • Good deal thanks.

  • +1

After doing extensive research (with my current toothbrush being a 8000) I'm going to move to either a io7 or a io10. It has lasted me 6yrs now…

Something like this or the 8500 is a side grade at best.

    • +1

What was your basis for the decision? I'm evaluation options as well.

      • +1

        Price and function mainly.

IO tech in general seems to be the next level up from the genius range. The barrier being expensive heads (which I have found some at a good price overseas) and the handle in general being more expensive as well. Io7 seems to be $170 ish while the io10 seems to be $500.

Going through the history there was a $165 io8 but in white as well.

One of the downsides seem to be still no usb c charging for any of the options. Though some come with a travel case which does still require an adapter. The AI/phone tech are things which my current toothbrush aleady have some, which I don't use. I do like the timer of the io10 on the charging plate but at $500 doesn't seem to be worth it.

Beetwen the io7-10 differences are mainly colour lcd screen, brush modes (which normally don't get used for me) and the timer on the charging station.

I am prepared to pay an extra $50 over this for newer tech.

So in general, depends how much you want to pay, and what you are already using.

        • I got the iO 10 from Shaver Shop eBay during Black Friday. Was $449 with eBay code then + $60 back with ShopBack 10% cashback ($25 cap) + 10% Westpac cashback ($25 cap) + $10 bonus for $200 spend eBay challege. Also paid with eBay gift cards which bought the price down further.

Main thing is that the iO 10 is much, much quieter to operate and seems to spin faster than my previous 9000. Also charges to full within 2 hours.

My order just got cancelled and I got refunded

    • Bummer. Mines waiting pickup.

      • +1

Collected it and it is a toothbrush…and not a mouse trap.

    • +1

I picked up my item at the Amazon locker and it was a mouse trap. Amazon just refunded me…

      • Did you try brushing your teeth with it before you got the refund?

      • You sure?

  • Order was "undeliverable" - anyone got any alternatives they have found?

    • +1

The Genius X is available still at Chemist Warehouse for $134 if you still want this one.
