    I think I need this

    • +2

Because it got X, BLACK and GENIUS in it?

      • Avoid anything that is got Pro or Max

        • waiting for XS version

  • +2

I grabbed the multi-voltage charger vatiant

    • What’s the difference

      • +47

Don’t you mean WATTS the difference?

      • +8

The multi-voltage charger is black colour which matches the brush while the standard charger is white

    • +1

Has anyone figured out what the difference is apart from one being multi voltage.
I brought the multi voltage since the charger looks slimmer.

      • I believe being multi-voltage you can use anywhere in the world. some countries are 110V so it will be fine there as well

    • Sorry about the late reply on this, but I was wondering if you recall the price you paid for the mutivoltage variant? Was it significantly different to the standard? Cheers

      • Was the same price for me, $119.99.

  • +1

Damn, just bought one from Chemist Warehouse!

I actually really like it, wish I switched over to an electric much sooner.

    • Same.. Wonder if I can cancel it

      • Had to call to cancels orders before, seems like there is no longer a cancel button even though the FAQ section

        • +1

Dont go and pickup, order will be cancelled after 7 days.

          • @amsaini15: No it doesn’t atleast for me, orders never auto cancelled, you need to call

            • @JXXY1337: Oh ok.. Strange and I always worry they will cancel my order as they have done to me when I took advantage of cashback.. That hurted..lol

              • @amsaini15: Yea it’s weird I waited like 10 days nothing and i read some thing it said there’s a cancel button but there’s none… not sure why

              • @amsaini15: Yeah I used to have orders cancelled after a week as well. Now recently when I got the deal from TopCashBack for a free Nautica cologne, it was with them for 3 weeks then went to pick it up, it was never cancelled.

  • +7

I feel like these still use the same motors from like 5 years ago, they just changed the packaging and perhaps at one extra feature lol

    • +8

your right, it can only do so much. like a washer can only turn, a fridge can only cool. the only way it would be different is having little arms coming out to floss your teeth as well. its all advertising and marketing.

      • +1

        It has AI.

        • +1

          marketing

          • +2

            @dddeal: AI marketing?

How can we make more money?
OralBAI: Use the same underwhelming technology that we've used for the last 30 years, repackage into a dozen different variants to confuse people, introduce new models with more expensive mould collecting toothbrush heads. Rinse and repeat.

            How are you so smart?
OralBAI: I'm not really. We're too tight to develop AI, so I'm actually the intern in the office down the hall.

        • literally feels like a dentist clean every time you brush your teeth and the Bluetooth tracking artificial intelligence is just simply amazing!

Review on their official website for another product.

          Riiight..

      • +1

It's grabbing my enamel with its gentle hands!

    • I have an Oral B triumph purchased 20 years ago and it still works flawlessly. It's starting to look a little worn and tired. Do you think this unit is worth the upgrade?

      • Exact same thing for me! I have the very old triumph, first one with an LCD screen but the battery is wearing so upgraded to an io6 a couple of weeks ago, is much better!

        • Yep! Same one! LCD screen with the base charger and toothbrush holder going a bit Yellowish lol! Thanks for the feedback!

  • Damn i bought chemist warehouse. But I haven't collected.
Anyone know if I can cancel and get full refund?

    • Me too. The collection email has "Please note, we will hold your order for a maximum of 7 days before an auto-cancellation is applied.".
So seems don't even have to ask, although I probably will ask.

      • +1

Me too. I'm going to call them and see

      • +1

Auto cancellation doesn’t work with my previous orders, even after a few days after 7 days needed to call to cancel

    • +12

      Damn i bought chemist warehouse

      Holy.. mate.

    • +2

Yes you can just give the store a call with your order number they will cancel immediately

  • +2

This or the pro 3000 at about half the cost?

    • +1

      Oral-B iO Series 9

    • The pro doesn't have the extra features. If that is important

      • Have you ever used the extra features? I use to have a higher end one but found I always just turned it on, brushed teeth and turned it off… I used the other features a few times but did not really notice much special about them in the past (this was many years back though so maybe they are better or very different now?)

        • +1

I have the 9000 series and haven't really used the extra features. I did try the Bluetooth app one or twice then couldn't be bothered opening app.

There is a home assistant integration for the oral b Bluetooth that some use to start like goodnight routines

  • I've always thought about getting an electric toothbrush. People who have them;
    - is it really a game changer and you like it better than manual?
    - it does a superior job to manual?
    - the cost to replace the heads is reasonable? I feel like that's where they can get good money out of you.

    I'm tempted :)

    • +7

bought one 3 years ago and never looked back since.

It's 100% better than reg toothbrush, gets into more tight spots then manual, definitely more cleaner. The head go on sale regular, replace only every 3 months as recommended. definitely would get one!

    • +2

Electric is much better than a manual one, it's proved clinically. Heads are on sale here and there and even without sales you'd spend like $100 a year maximum.

      • +1

Thanks for the advice. Pulled the trigger now sitting here thinking of pulling the cancel trigger 😂🤣
Where would you recommend looking out for sale heads? Amazon, chemist warehouse?

        • +1

Ebay and Amazon. Put it in your watchlist and check regularly, especially during big sale seasons.

        • +1

Aldi seem to be having large $50 packs too oral B branded. Think I saw 15 brushes in there.

Imo it's way cheaper than the dentist so if I can prevent or delay needing to go there I'm saving heaps

        • +1

Coly/wooly/shavers/chemistware.. 3 pack of original cost around 15$.. that's your annual supply..

    • +1

I definitely like electric since using an Oclean for the past couple years.
I think it does a better job.
Having a timer built in helps force me to do a better job too.

    • +1

Ive had one of these expensive ones before and the battery died eventually. I replaced it with one of those oral B ones that regularly go on special in coles and woolies for $20 and cannot tell the difference with just brushing. to go down this route you would really wanna geek out over the app features. My first one was before that wave where they got really 'smart' so i donno if i would go for it.

      • its all about marketing and app but it does the same as the $20 from the supermarkets.

      • +7

$20 ones use a NiCad battery, $60 (on-sale) Pro 2000 and above models use Li-Ion which don’t degrade anywhere near as fast as NiCad, nor suffer memory effect degradation putting on charge after each use.
$20 one oscillates around 2000 times less per minute than the Pro 2000. $20 one doesn’t pulsate, only oscillate, whereas Pro 2000 pulsates around 20,000 times a minute which cleans much better than with oscillation alone.

        • +1

And generally the $20 one at the supermarket does not have a pressure sensor either.

    • +1

      Yes. Very much so.

The vast majority of people will clean better with an electric one.

The cost to replace the heads, for me, is cheaper than buying semi-premium colgate heads. I.e, obviously, its cheaper to buy 10 toothbrushes for $1 … but, the heads last me longer than an $8 colgate toothbrush, and are cheaper than $8.

  • +1

How's this vs the genius 8500 and the io versions?

    • +1

I think this one just has tongue cleaner added compared to 8500? Is that all?

      • +2
        • +2

Almost every feature in the list is a gimmick. Would be nice if they actually compared the useful specifications like battery capacity, charging rate and life, motor noise, osciallating flmode and frequency, weight, toothbrush head compatibility etc

I guess if they did that though people will realise they are mostly using the same hardware

    • You wouldn’t notice any difference between genius 8500 and x (same goes for all the genius models really).

The io’s are a bit more high tech looking and feeling, but the brush heads are considerably more expensive and don’t clean your teeth/gums any better.

  • Urgh just bought 2 from chemist warehouse and thought we got a bargain

    • -7

$68 vs $119… I think you did get a bargain with the CWH being the better deal

      • +5

No idea what youre saying. Bought 2 at $134.90 each so total $270

        • +2

Thought you got the 8500 model which was a ripper of a price. Most people don’t need the extra mode of tongue cleaner on the 9000 / Genius X model for a whole lot more $

          https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/815603

          • +1

@Moo Deng: Mine got cancelled and some of others too… this one is newer so happy with the price

          • @Moo Deng: I also bought the 8500 but they cancelled the order last week.

  • Great price for the best Oral B toothbrush.

    • Not the best .. check the Oral-B iO Series 9

      • +2

iO10 is top of the line

  • +1

    This or iO9?

    • +3

I dunno but a guy on another toothbrush deal said he was a dentist and went to a oral b presentation and thinks the i0 tech is the best.

      • +2

I bought an io8 a month ago on sale, greatest purchase of my life. it's like going to the dentist every day. its a cut above normal electric toothbrushes.

        • It’s more high tech feeling and looking, but won’t clean your mouth any better.

        • what was your previous toothbrush that you're comparing to say your new io8 is a cut above others, was it io6/7?

          • +1

@x x: No, it wasnt an earlier io brush, it was some 70$ midrange one. Decided to splurge on the io8 bc got it at around 180$ and wanted to treat myself. Io8 has vibration and rotation cleaning, my old one only vibrated. Maybe that plays into it.

      • +1

Ended up buying this as can’t find iO9 anywhere close to this price point. Any deals on the brush heads?

        • +1

that because iO is better and newer range.

        • +2

iO9 street price is $349, brush heads indeed more expensive but occasionally discounted at Coles and Amazon. i would say iO7 is good enough, don't need a colour display on my toothbrush…

          • +2

@sumyungguy: Agreed, I’m holding out for an iO7 deal - it seems to hit the sweet spot with the new faster charger and same cleaning effectiveness as the iO9 without the colour screen.

            • @jjayoen: The only other difference is the 16-zone 3D tracking but I'm fine without that… for now. One member of my household has an iO7 and it's great to not have that charging post recess to clean. The other two of us have iO6.

            • +1

@jjayoen: I just want it for the fact the charger and brush base don't look like a pain to clean…

          • @sumyungguy: Be real, io3 is good enough, and quieter than 7/8/9.

            https://www.electricteeth.com/au/oral-b-io-series-7-vs-8-vs-…

            • @eccaz: iO7/8/9 have two additional (noisier) cleaning modes over the iO3

      • -1

I switched to iO and my hygienist reported a massive improvement since my previous AIRFLOW® session

        • And did your hygienest notice a difference between that and the io3?

          • @eccaz: I have an iO6 and rate the guided brushing

      • +2

Have read up on people having mould issue on the iO range. That was enough for me to pull the trigger on this one

        • +1

Mould is honestly not an issue for people who rinse the unit after brushing.

Its only lazy people who allow toothpaste to cake on the handle that develop issues.

    • +1

I went with this one because of the cheaper heads. This is so far the best model using the older head.

      Might upgrade down the line.

  • If dont care about bluetooth coaching stuff is this still better than their cheaper options?

    • +1

I don’t think so…most likely the oral B range implements the same - if not similar - motor system….would be good if anyone else can confirm though.

  • I literally just wrapped 2 of these from my CW purchase 🤦🏻‍♀️ to return and buy this or not to return?

    • Considering the annual cost of preventative dental care, I reckon a decent brush is a worthy spend

      • +1

That's why I purchased from CW as gifts. I just don't know if I can be bothered to swap for the $40 savings for 2 of these, but I do like the black charger which comes with the multivoltage one.

        • -1

I don't understand why they've labelled the package with multivoltage charger. Oral B toothbrushes typically include a charger rated at AC 110-220V.
