  • Would giving this to your kids make them a social outcast or too cool for school? lol

    • Outcast lol. Unless they specifically ask for one lol

Maybe this is the solution to phones in school, can only text and call in class lol

  • I will pull the trigger if Nokia 8850 comes out

  • Nokia used to have superior cameras!
    I miss these days.

  • I still have and use a Nokia T55. Works fine.

  • are these built like the indestructible classics?

    Trash bring sold as "retro".

  • "0.048 GB ram" really…?

You couldn't write 48 MB? So much easier to read.

    • +1

Geeze you would think it would be cheaper to have more ram, who bothers making such tiny amounts these days.

Side point, my old Amiga had 1 meg, and could do some pretty great stuff.

  • Any deals anywhere of the "banana" Nokia, aka the matrix Nokia re release? I know it's been a while, I should have snapped one up a few years ago when they released it, they probably no longer make it….

I still have an original one from decades ago, but Lord knows where, haven't seen it forever. My first phone.

You have no idea, unless you owned one, how satisfying it was to hang up on someone if you were annoyed, using that phone.

  • These would be great if they could do hotspoting

  • If I'm correct, none of these can connect to WiFi….

What's like the cheapest option with low data for a SIM these days?

Also I note they have Bluetooth.. you can connect up a network via Bluetooth but it's a real pain.

    • "If I'm correct, none of these can connect to WiFi…."

I can't find the comment right now but someone was asking if it had USB-C.. I would be surprised if it had USB anything lol.

  • I know they are all Nokia, but which of these three models are tough, durable and has long lasting battery?

    • Not sure but if you put a normal phone in a $10 flip case from Aliexpress it becomes very tough. Then turn off data & the battery lasts a long time.

      • I am asking which of these three models here. Not asking other smartphones around as I am already using an iPhone 15.

My friend who is a psychologist and a really really down to earth bloke that is super chill has one of these. Nothing phases him about what’s happening in the world, he just carries on with his work and life (works for domestic violence victims) and I swear every time I catch up with him, he’s just such a breath of fresh air.

His view is smartphones have made us humans super detached from being present and I tend to agree.

    Anyway, little rant over.

    (Typed from my iPhone)

  • Anything similar that will allow me to install Microsoft authenticator app.

Nokia trying to cling on to a market that doesn't exist anymore.
Even my grandfather who is in his 80s enjoys the basic functions of a smart phone.
Unless you're a drug dealer or into illegal activities why would you need such a basic phone?

    • Nostalgia, (and bloody long battery life). Though, how much is that with to you? That's a personal opinion.

    • +3

Basic phone for kids to carry for basic contact.

      Backup/secondary phone for businesses.

Or any scenarios such as the above where you need basic contact but want to deter anyone ever stealing it because it has no value to anyone.

    • Basic smartphones are cheaper (https://www.woolworths.com.au/shop/productdetails/212736/opt… $49 with a $35 starter sim) and carrying 2 smart phones is likely to be less suspicious to police (many people carry a work phone and a personal one). There again, many criminals are not smart, so maybe they see people on TV carrying these burner phones and think they're a good idea, where really the benefit of the burners overseas is having the sim not tied to a specific person.

  • Am I the only one with an elderly parent stuck in a no-man's land of not quite having the dexterity for a touchscreen, but being used to doing more than calls? My father only uses his phone for calls but mum does a lot of texting and really likes taking and sending photos - basically 2005-2010 sort of functionality. Her 3G phones are running out of time and we've struggled to find a decent alternative (e.g. cameras seem to max out at 2 MP non-autofocus).

  • I use the Nokia 8110 to get out of the matrix!

  • I see you can get Whatsapp on the 2720. Can you get it on any of these?

Would like to make the switch back to a brick/flip phone.

Got one on the Bing Lee eBay store for $37 after applying the $20 voucher for Plus members.

    • Have ebay plus, can't see a $20 voucher available. What am I doing wrong?

      • Correct, I have two eBay Plus accounts and got the code only on one of them.

    trash labelled as "retro"

  • Still using my 2007 Nokia 6300, original battery too xD

    • It has 2G reception so very unlikely.

      • Yup, that would be correct if I was using it in Australia.

  • Awesome, I needed an extra phone for only fans.
