80

Seems like a decent prize for a 4070 laptop with a Ryzen 9 chip in it. The 7940hs has the 780m iGPU so it gives you the versatility to play some games unplugged.

The ASUS TUF Gaming A15 features a Ryzen 9-7940HS processor with an RTX 4070 graphics card, 15.6in FHD display with up to 144Hz, 16GB DDR5 memory with 1 x 512GB M.2 NVMe PCIe 4.0 SSD, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.3, and Windows 11 Home OS.

For those that want to save extra there's 9 available here for $2268 delivered with code SAVB5

  • Also available here for the same price and free shipping but I'm unfamiliar with the website

  • Display is QHD, so colour gamut and response times should be pretty solid..

Never mind, marketing info doesn't match description, expect the el cheapo display you don't want to use for gaming or content.

    • According to Asus website:
      15.6-inch, FHD (1920 x 1080) 16:9, Value IPS-level, Anti-glare display, - sRGB:100%, - Adobe:75.35%, - Refresh Rate:144Hz, G-Sync, MUX Switch + NVIDIA® Advanced Optimus

Unfortunate that it sucks for Adobe it would be a good creator laptop otherwise but for gaming I always assume most people will have a screen considering they'll have to be plugged and a 4070 is kind of wasted on a 15 inch screen. The screen is probably good specs when unplugged playing on the 780m.

      • 100% sRGB is solid, but I'd still want to see response times. Sadly laptop panels can be all over the shop even with decent base specs due to how poorly some manufacturers can tune decent panels.

According to Jarrod, the screen response time on this model is pretty bad. Tho overall, this laptop is well-rounded.

          • @myvanbo: Yeah just looked up the same thing: 18 ms average, so a 60Hz panel dressed up as 144Hz, with most transitions falling well short of the 7ms you'd like to see at a minimum.

@jasswolf: I noticed that he said the Aus market even get a worse screen than the US market iirc.

@myvanbo: I love how Jarrod is so well known now. The man is great at what he does and doesn’t click bait or hype. Just solid information.

        • According to Asus website listed elsewhere it's 3ms but I know to take marketed response times with a grain of salt

Bet someone will say this laptop cant beat our all time favourite Lenovo Legion!

  • Not exactly a great price for an RTX 4070. The Neo 16 was $1997 during the Black Friday. At this point, I'm hoping to see RTX4070 laptop to drop below $2000. The TUF15 with i7 12700H and RTX4070 is less than 1000 USD on Best Buy US. Australia pricing is not great.

Yeah here so ripoff when compare to all the latest US laptops deals, wish we can just get from bestbuy and they ship to here directly.

      • +1

There are still good/reasonable deals here and there. But many models are ripoff. The US seems to always have more/newer configs with better/updated prices especially for the high-end models. Shipping from the US to Australia increases the price by 10-20% due to shipping+tax, so not ideal either.

        • I'm heading to the US in a week, should I go to Best Buy to get a new laptop? Is that the best store in terms of current deals?

    • The TUF15 with i7 12700H and RTX4070 is less than 1000 USD on Best Buy US

      not anymore it's not
