    wow thats super cheap

got it, cant resist the price 😂😂

  • PayPal is not a payment option unfortunately. I used the virtual credit card option on my Zip Pay app. Worked perfectly.

  • +1

I already have a block account with about 2TB left, if I buy another block will it just stack with my existing block?, cheers.

Edit, yep, it just stacked and was added to my existing balance..

  • +1

Might be best to change the OP URL to the English version of the site https://bulknews.eu/en/usenet-block-6000-gb/

    • +1

      Done. Thank You.

  • +6

Why would you want to buy 6tb of news. Just watch it for free on YouTube.

    • +2

I watched some free to air ABC News tonight. Riveting stuff. Lacks a bit of HDR and Dolby Vision spice though :)
Jokes aside , I have subscriptions to Youtube and Curiosity stream/ Nebula. I still like to download stuff on demand. Usenet serves my need.

      • +1

you just need to pay youtube for enhanced bitrate

  • +2

    Op, pardon my ignorance.

    What is this?

    • +8

A digital version of the secret handshake service offered by the Freemasons :))
      Boring interpretation:
      https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Usenet

    • +5

Usenet is an old, old internet thing that actually predates the world wide web.

It's still around because people use it for large downloads of things like movies/tv/software etc. Not necessarily with the permission of the copyright owners…

You pay companies to access it, either with a monthly subscription or in pay-as-you-go blocks (this post is for that). You aren't paying the uploader, and the service you use will only keep files for a certain length of time.

You can use websites to search for the file you want, which for historical/technical reasons is made up of a bunch of smaller files. You need to use software to actually download and reassemble the files.

For popular new movies and TV shows it's an alternative to BitTorrent that doesn't require uploading and offers you some theoretical protection as the services emphasize "privacy" and connections are encrypted. Sometimes you can find older stuff with no seeds, but sometimes the collections of files are incomplete or just too old to be on the servers of the service you pay.

  • Excuse me…
Is it like "paid torrent" thing?

    • An alternative to torrents

    • +1

Yes but can be much faster

      • +3

And legally safer as you're just downloading content. BT you're distributing it as well (like posession vs dealing).

Downside is older content & niche stuff is a bit harder.

  • +1

Seems to be showing €140 for me now or is something odd going on

    • +2

      Use the code ;)

      • Yeah sorry I'm an absolute goose half asleep 😔

    • Make sure you use the bf20 code on the payment. page. It such auto deduct to 15 euro before finalising payment.

      • Yep. Looks like It's time for me to say good night.

  • Cheers OP. Had troubles checking out using Apple Pay and also with my ME Bank card. My Westpac virtual card however worked flawlessly.

  • +1

Which newsreader do you guys use and why that specific one? I'm new to the secret handshake academy & I really want to make sure I use the correct hand.

      • Intermediate setup is quite doable for non-tech people as well. Most of the settings on default are fine and only needs changed if someone is particularly fussed on quality.

      • +1

That's pretty thorough, thank you! After reading it, I see I have lots to learn cause the only thing I understood of the software names you mentioned was Plex. This'll be a journey.

      • Any good free indexers, the good ones have a fee or have limited api calls

        • Doesnt exist, you have to pay to play or be content with limited api calls per day.

          • @brifog: Yeah figures, had a good lifetime subscription until a popular one closed , now they want monthly payments. Think I'll stick with private trackers.thanks for the heads up

        • +1

use nzb geek its cheap af

not that i would know as someone who would never pirate things

      • I found that it was cool to add in trakt/imdb list connections so you can just add shows or movies to your watch list when out and about and it will grab it for you

      • nzbget was Revived ?

    • If anyone using a synology Nas, highly recommend Dr Frankenstein's guide to setting everything up on docker. You can then install Tailscale to Download add new shows when you are out and about. Incredibly pleasing to have everything downloaded, renamed and moved to the right folder so all you have to do is open up plex and watch your shows.

  • +1

Who's the backend supplier? I have astraweb currently, will there be an overlap?

  • Any way I can leverage UseNet to create a “personal” (might share with friends) streaming service using apps/scripts/containers for the backend and something like Emby/KODI for the frontend?

    • +1

There are variations out there, Plex or Jellyfin for the front end streaming. SABnzbd, Sonarr/Radarr I have seen work well together. NZB360 Pro for the mobile app is a great app to control it.

Feels like you're tech savvy calling out containers, but even if you're in need of a bit of help this resource is great: https://mariushosting.com/docker/

    • yup. see my detailed post above. mostly what Iodog said tbh.

  • Nice price. I use Eweka right now and Abavia backfills from it, I believe. So no point in jumping on this if you use Eweka currently.

    • im confused. isnt the benefit of this cheap additional bandwidth? even if the source supplier is the same, are u saying if u already have eweka or whatever, its pointless to buy this even if it gives u additional bandwidth block?

or u mean as a backup?

  • That's very cheap, can anyone vouch? I sometimes need it as a backup option but very rare, 6TB might last me a very long time nowadays

  • Wow cheap! I stopped using nzb as like many people started with subscription based streaming. Streaming is just too convenient, but this is a great price for 6TB.

  • Is this yearly or a one off?

    • +1

One-off… It's just a block of data, it allows you to download 6TB at your leisure, no expiry or anything..

      • Yeah ok. Not sure if I need this or not. I run Plex on a NAS with all local content. Handful of family stream direct from my NAS. Sometimes it gets bogged down as I only have 15Mbps upload and content is all in 4K.
Need to figure out if I need to still run Plex locally and will my home connection still be the bottleneck or does everything move to the usenet set up? I am not short of storage space locally.

        • +4

or does everything move to the usenet set up

I could be wrong, but I have a feeling you don't really know what usenet is, it's not online storage or anything like that…

          • +1

@FLICKIT: You are right, I have no idea! I am very time poor but always keen to automate things more and make the Plex experience better for my family. I might just leave it as I don't need another rabbit hole to go down.

edit: just found a good explanation about how it works and I def don't need it. Happy with my current source of content.

            • @Mr BoMBAStiG: how are u getting plex content without usenet? torrents?

              • @furythree: Just get a plex share if you are time poor. Costs about $15 a month, zero effort and watch whatever you want to.

                • @kazer: oh tahts what people are doing.

i already have a plex setup so have no need but might be handy for one time overseas stuff

any good marketplaces? feel free to dm

                  • @furythree: Soz i meant to reply to the other user who mentioned he was time poor.

And marketplaces don't exist any more after plex started cracking down on em. They are mostly private and by referral only. You can dm if you are ever searching

              • @furythree: Yes torrents. Only takes me a few minutes a week to get all the latest films and update the tv shows.

                • @Mr BoMBAStiG: ah i see

are u using rss to automate it

the benefit this is that u dont have to deal with seeds or Village roadshow's legal team scanning ur IP and sending ur ISP letters to ban ur account and sue u lol

other than that yeah, if you have ur torrents automated u dont need to change other than not worry about seeds and always getting max speed

  • Don't know if I'll ever use this but the discount is too big to ignore!

  • I used to be huge into Usenet from the dark old days through the yEnc and NZB era. Then I moved to torrents. This offer is intriguing.

Is there a truely viable way of getting the NZBs these days without a paid subscription?

    Thanks

    • +1

Haven't found a reliable free option unless you download the headers like in the Forte Agent era. Easynews is recommend when they have a sale.

      • Yeah, thanks!

  • +3

My confidence dropped twice when I read "Password can not be larger then 14 characters".

    • +2

      It gets worse:

Password can only contrain letters, digits, a period (.) or a dash (-)

Yup. It also actually says "contrain".

I also can't find their privacy policy. The links they provide don't work.

  • Thanks, buy first think/thank later.

  • @Snoots curious how u found this deal as i never even got any newsletters or anything and the homepage coupon is for a deal thats 2x the price

    • The code in this deal was being advertised on their site over the Black Friday weekend, and it was mentioned quite a bit on Reddit… (the current code on the site is Sun19 @ 36euro)

  • I signed up, my account got deducted but it says I don't have a subscription. wtf? Oh and I have emailed and tried their Facebook but no contact from them.

    • did you get it sorted? code still works

      • yeah, asking same thing as I want to sign up tonight.

        • No I have a raised a ticket last week, i have had 1 reply, and thats it, it appears to be downloading but I have no Login account.

      • No I have a raised a ticket last week, i have had 1 reply, and thats it, it appears to be downloading but I have no Login account.

  • Worked for me.

  • Just signed up to this with the deal, thanks Op. saves me $12 usd per month

  • Authentication failed, check username/password.

How do you set this up with SABnzbd? Do you need port forwarding?

    • +1

Works for me.I use the following settings:

      Host: news.bulknews.eu
      Username: < your username>
      Password: < your password>

My Username is different from the email address that I signed up with, so check what username you used.

      • Does not work for me. The money was deducted over a week ago. I now could not log into my account via their website for which I could earlier.

  • +1

Look like a scam. I have messaged them for support but no reply.

    • +1

Yeah I have only been contacted once. I have paid but my account doens't work nor do i get any communication from them.

    • +1

      Sir,

Kindly provide your username and password and I will check this for you.

      Warm regards

      • Are you trying to steal my username and password?

  • Mines working fine.

  • -1

    This is a scam.
Bought it, didn't provide me an API key or credentials for SabNZBD, and upon contacting them for support, they didn't respond and have since deleted my account altogether.

    Do NOT buy this.

    • -1

What exactly did you say/ask when you contacted them? What was your tone like? Was it an angry email? While I don't think they should have deleted your account, I'm not sure if it's their responsibility to hold your hand while setting up SabNZBD.

      • -2

LOL get real. I've been using usenet for several years now with Eweka as my main provider and a Newsdemon block. I know exactly how SabNZBD works and I have it working perfectly well with Sonarr and Radarr.

For SabNZBD to work with a usenet provider, you need a valid host + port, and a working set of credentials. None of these were ever provided to me after completing the transaction, so I sent the following support ticket:

"I purchasesd a 6TB block and got charged, but the website stuffed up and no purchase was recorded. The account information page shows "You do not have a Usenet account". Please fix this ASAP or I will be contacting my bank to get my money back. "

I never heard back from them, and at some point since then, my account got disabled altogether. When I try to log in on the bulknews website, I get the message:

"It's not possible to log in with the provided username and password"

Awesome. Totally incompetent company running a fraudulent operation. Hopefully they get banned from conducting any business in Australia once my bank refunds me.

        • -2

I don't think you know how it works if you are asking them for a working set of credentials.

          • @ozbs25: Ah yes because credentials have nothing to do with sabnzbd configuration, do they?

            https://i.imgur.com/shZ3zFR.png

You're an embarrassment and you're shilling for a scam organization LMAO.

            • -1

@jasonxc: That is not for sabNZBD. They are the server "credentials". Why are you asking them for the API key? Do you know what you are asking them?

              • @ozbs25: And guess what genius? Those server credentials were never provided. They are used in a SabNZBD configuration, but clearly people like yourself interpret every phrase as literally as possible.

I have two Usenet servers working perfectly well and have been for years, and here you are trying to claim how usenet works because a scammer company can't provide a basic set of credentials.

Also I didn't ask them for an API key, champ. I literally gave you a transcript of the email I sent. Keep defending the fraud company though, my sad friend.

                • -1

@jasonxc: You said yourself they didn't provide you with an API key.

                  • -1

@ozbs25: Yeah ok champ, I initially got a tiny bit confused between providers and indexers in my first post in this reply chain. I still never mentioned anything to them about API keys, but hey, you're going to nitpick every little thing you can while your back is against the wall.

You're hopeless bro. Just swallow your pride and move on.

                    • @jasonxc: Based on that first comment it looked like you had no idea. Maybe you have an idea but your tone is not helping you at all.

                      • -1

@ozbs25: I don't care, you were worthless to begin with.
Bulknews is a fraudulent company, it's as simple as that :)

                        • +1

@jasonxc: I'm not arguing about the company themselves. I don't know if I will ever use the data block. I just know that I did a test run and it worked.

You can't blame me for thinking you don't know what you are doing. Go back and reread your first comment, then your reply to mine. It's just screams, I have no idea what I'm doing but if I'm loud enough maybe someone will fix my problem.

                          • -1

@ozbs25: No, that was just you nitpicking one detail about an API key and desperately trying to extrapolate on it, probably because you're a troll.
Everyone who uses usenet and sabNZBD understands credentials are required to connect to a server. Attempting to suggest I'm looking for help setting up SabNZBD because I claimed bulknews did not provide credentials is laughable, and proves you're a worthless troll.

I was never asking anyone to fix my problem, and certainly not a worthless poster like yourself. I was providing much needed warning to anyone thinking about giving money to this fraudulent company.

                            • @jasonxc: There are others in this very post asking how to use this with SabNZBD. Port forwarding? It's not that straightforward and the fact that you can't even use the right terms for things just muddies the point you are trying to make.

                              • -1

@ozbs25: Lol, you're still going with your embarrassing mental gymnastics.
I don't care bro, you're worthless. Your desperate nitpicking is embarrassing and a complete waste of time, and you're a troll.
Bulknews is a scam, it's as simple as that.

                                • @jasonxc: Mate, your behaviour is out of line. Christmas is around the corner. Be nice, even if it's only for a few days.

    • Money taken out of my account. I initially could logged into my account via their website but no longer for some reason.
I have not been able to setup their server as it keep failing from the start

No support what so ever. Likely a scam.

      • I'm not sure what has happened to you guys but my purchase went through ok… Pretty slack they're not responding to your issues !

I already had an account with about 2TB left on it from a 6TB block I purchased 5 years ago, the 6TB from this deal was added onto my balance without issue, so I have 8TB now…

There doesn't appear to be any mention of these issues in the Reddit thread for this deal:
        https://www.reddit.com/r/usenet/comments/183dw3y/bulknews_6t…

      • Don't take this the wrong way but do you know how to use this?

While I've never heard of them, they have been around for a long time. Seems strange that they would start scamming people all of a sudden.

        • I have usernet accounts on a dew occasions. I know how to use them. As I said, I could not login from their website which I initially could. Maybe they have black listed me from 5 failed attempts via SABnzbd.

          • @Black Hole: Maybe wait and try again later? Too many failed attempts within a time period can lock you out sometimes.

  • +1

I would advise people to stay away from this. No privacy policy and they don't accept paypal.

  • I have checked my account again and it logs in fine showing my 6TB plan as active, and accurately reporting my usage. Works perfectly with SABNZBD supporting 50 concurrent connections (30 advertised). Eweka and NewsGroupDirect are a bit faster though with the same number of connections.
For people who have problems with their accounts, i would suggest posting on the Reddit r/usenet thread as you should get things resolved.
