No, get your shoe/boot size. You want them to have a snug fit so that they press against the inside of your shoe or boot.

How does it reduce creases?
I would imagine creases are created you have bending motion such as the forefoot section of the shoe.
Helps keep the shape and straightens everything out in between wears.
I've got some boots that are looking much less creased and worn out, compared to a few other people that have the same boot for similar periods of time (~2 years).
Concur. There is your life before shoe trees, then your life afterwards.
If you do nothing else for your nice shoes, get shoe trees for them.
Geez you could make something cheaper. Or Check AliExpress.
Luckily got a free pair with some loakes once
I've bought of Trimly before when they had their older style boot trees and have been very happy with the quality of product. This version has really good reviews and it seems to be a very good for RM Williams. I'm sure you can buy something similar off Aliexpress but personally I am happy to buy the Trimly's as they are genuine cedar not some wooden product sprayed with cedar oil. Cedar helps to absorb the moisture from the shoe.
Yeh quality over quantity sometimes.
I just hard pack in paper, after a while it takes the shape becoming a hard and solid piece that's easy to take in and out.
Proper cedar shoe trees help absorb the moisture from the shoe so they don't have the damp musty shoe smell and help maintain the shape which really extends the life of the shoe.
I only started using shoe trees a few years ago and its amazing the difference they make. I've bought shoe trees for all my shoes including sneakers and love them
For RM Williams if your spending $450 plus dollars on a pair, this really is an investment to keep them looking good. I been using shoe trees on a pair I bought 3 years ago and they still look brand new.
In my experience paper absorbes moisture better than wood but to each their own.
Tip: if you want something for lady's ankle boots that have a pointed toe, get the sneaker trees not the boot trees. The toe part of the tree is slimmer so will fit better and further into a pointed shoe.
Source: have a lady partner with pointed toe ankle boots
How does the sizing work? Do I need to order one size down from my boot size?
