Woah, ive never seen ikea do this before

    • +4

      Indeed, impromptu Ozb meetups?

      • See you guys in the restaurant area lol

    • +10

thats cause thy marked it up so much during this "inflationary" period… its just re-pricing it back a little and still making a good healthy margin!

MCD soft serve is now $1.10… last week its still 85 sens..

      • I bought a MCD soft serve for 75c yesterday…

  • Damn…. I literally ordered something today

  • Are Ladda batteries still good?

    • +1

Yes. Comparable to eneloops but ikea does not have eneloop pro equivalent, so if your use case stacks up for pro, Amazon is having black Friday sale now.

Otherwise if it's not too far out of your way to get to an ikea, the ladda's are the way to go.

      • They still have the Pro in AA they are the 2450mAh, the 1900mAh ones are normal Eneloop. High power items use pro, and all others use normal you get much more charge cycles out of normal Eneloops.

    • Ladda batteries used to be rebadged Eneloop pros I believe.

  • I prefer eat your discounts so I can stuff my face.

  • Cries in $500 just spent the other week

  • Is their outdoor furniture any good? Looking for chairs that are comfy and durable

    • I have a the Appalaro lounge chairs - I still find them good looking, comfy and have lasted a few years now

  • Oh no!! Just bought $3k wardrobe in ikea last week

    • +1

      Username doesn't correlate.

      • I did not expect any ikea Black Friday sales :(

    • With the discounted gift cards?

      • Yes, from last week woolies promotion

        • Nice. Ya still did well then.

    • Check the description. IKEA Family has 90 day price protection.

      • Wrong, its US only

  • Can anyone recommend an office chair?

For a short female about 5'2" - (i.e. some chairs may be too tall for her and her feet can't reach the ground)

    • +1

The height of the chair should be adjusted according to how her arms rest on the desk when she's typing/ writing. If her feet can't reach the floor, put a foot rest there. If the monitor isn't at the right height, adjust that instead of the chair.

    • +2

Can’t recommend the IKEA Langfjall enough, after selling one when moving to a space without room for a desk, now after moving again we re-bought it. Can’t comment on suitability for 5’2” but it goes up and down and you can get a high or low back model. Would recommend trying in store obviously though.

      • The Langfjall is the best "fit" for a chair I've tried, but it's rather firm and I wonder how it would feel after hours sitting and/or years of wearing down. Do you have any feedback there?

        • Haven’t really paid attention tbh but I think after a couple hours I fidget a bit, I think that’s me in any chair though

    • +1

None of them were comfortable for me (I'm 153cm F).

    • I have 2 of the Langjfells and they are brilliant. My tip though, buy one off marketplace for 75% off. I bought both mine virtually brand new for a fiddy.

      • Only problem mate is I have a sedan so not sure if I could fit a fully assembled chair in a Corolla lol

  • can the ultimate gift cards or ikea gift cards be used online as well? :3

    • Ultimate gift cards can be exchanged to e-gift cards.

      • +2

so to purchase on ikea online i'd have to exchange it to e-gift correct? does ikea accept multiple gift cards entered? :3 thank you

        • According to the comments above, yes, but can cause website to slow or crash if you use too many.

          • @ATangk: thankkkk you! can i ask last question, where can it be exchanged into e-gift cards?

        • +1

There is no limit to the number of cards

But finalise your cart before applying the gift cards. Once the card is redeemed, it is reserved against that cart for up to 4 hours. If you do not finalise your payment, or make any changes to your cart or delivery instructions, the gift card balance will be released after 4 hours only for you to redeem again.

    • Yes, they can. I just used $300 of IKEA gift cards last week. And the Ultimate card can be exchanged to IKEA gift card

Anyone know if Ikea online click and collect order is reliable?

ie. U put in order then later get an email saying order cancelled since ran out of stock because early bird instore customer went to grab them already as in store.

    • I just recently did a click and collect order, they have available time slots to choose. I chose the earliest which was 2-6pm the following day. By 5:30pm, still hadn’t received anything to say it was ready, so I went in. 6:10 I went to click and collect counter, they hadn’t started my order, but the lady was nice and prepared it for me, however one of the items I ordered that said in stock, was not in stock. A week later, still waiting on refund.

      • Thanks Mate, looks like click and collect is unreliable for such big sales. Best to go in.. arhh.

        • Yeah, the woman said they are very backlogged with Click and Collect, probably because it’s free over $60 now.

  • What?! I was just at IKEA this weekend!

  • Reading the T&Cs there is no out for people simply returning goods and rebuying or just rebuying then immediately returning them using the original receipt and purchase price (although in practice I would assume staff might monitor this)

Combined with the 365 policy I see this being an absolute nightmare for the staff

Not sure why people are so excited about 15% discount as IKEA every now and then have various products on sale anyway… With high discount

  • +1

Im Pretty sure ikea family card has price protection. go in an get your 15% refunded. No buy and return needed on the day if within 90 days.

Price Protection. So you don't miss out on offers. When you scan your IKEA Family card at checkout, you activate our 90-Day price protection benefit. Service purchases are excluded from this benefit. See Details.

    https://www.ikea.com/us/en/ikea-family/ikea-family-faq-pub89…

    • This is pretty good, might put it in the description.

      • +4

I can’t find price protection clause in IKEA Family Australia. That link is for IKEA US.

    • Is that US only? Has anyone tried it here?

      • +5

I tried several months ago, the manager got involved and pointed out that the US policy doesn't apply here. So I suggested bringing it back and getting the refund and buy again with the discount. The manager authorised to refund the difference immediately.

    • I asked their online chat and was told that I can only bring my item back in for a refund and then repurchase it. This wasn't an option for me since I already assembled my product.

      • +3

They'll never know if you bought it first and then ask for refund of new items with old receipt.

    • +2

i spoke to online chat and they approved the 15% discount from a purchase from a week ago, so it seems it depends who you speak to

      • Hi did they process the refund for you via online chat?
I just bought a lot of stuff last week :(

        • I had similar luck on the online chat for a purchase made last week, 15% $400 refund credited back to my original payment method.
Quote from the online chat "If you have purchased in the last 2 weeks we can honour the 15% Black Friday offer"

          • +1

@Thomaas21111: Confirming that I got the 15% credit! yay thank you guys!

          • @Thomaas21111: They honoured refund on my purchase from a week ago, but wouldn’t for the purchase 2 weeks ago. Something is better than nothing I guess :)

  • Just bought some things from IKEA last weekend. Didn't scan the family member card either so not eligible for price protection. Rookie mistake I guess.

    • Guess you're going to have to do the checkout + refund on old receipt trick.

  • Have to pay extra for eggs now!

  • how to get 20X EDR point? Just scan the EDR card and check out with Ikea gift card?

    • following

    • Yes, just make sure you check your receipt before you leave the store that you've been credited with 2000 points (per $100 card)

      • +1

Whats the better deal? 20x edr points or 10% extra load? Maths is hard at this time of night…

        • +1

10% extra load. You can get ww points for like 4-5% off normally. 10% extra is 9.1% off.

  • Please report back if the stuff you bought last weekend actually increases in price this weekend to accommodate the discount….

    • -1

I highly doubt that - Ikea rarely changes their prices. It would cost them more to go around their tens of thousands of products in store and physically update the pricing tickets than it would to just suck up the discount.

  • -2

On a more serious note, any suggestions on what one could purchase that's good value if there's nothing really that I require from Ikea ? What are people buying ? Would be good to get some ideas.. thanks in advance

    • +1

Everyday items like their zip lock bags, tealight candles, more plates, maybe a chopping board? IKEA isn’t really a place you would shop unless you have something you want or need.

    • It's such an open-ended question - how are we meant to know what might want?

Do you want a curtain rod or a battery charger? Fabric? A pillow? Flooring? Bathroom taps? Storage unit? Rug?

      • that was exactly my question.. this site is filled with products and ideas that people don't want but find a good bargain so I was wondering if there were any such "unwanted" impulse purchases that one might want to go for.. thanks for your response though..

    • +4

Remember, as with all bargains on this site or anywhere else, it is only a bargain if you need it. Suggest you give this one a miss.

  • Feedback on ikea 365+ knives? Or is everyone using $400 shun knife set?

    I'm looking at the chef's knife ~20cm $30, paring knife $20, and cleaver $30

Looks like the 3-piece has chef's knife 20cm, 16cm, and the utility for $49 so in the true ozb spirit I would get the 3 piece instead of individually ahaha

    • Have been using these for a couple of years with no issues. But only two vegetarians at home so probably not a fair comparison.

  • Does IKEA do online partial payment with giftcard and CC?

    • Yes

      • Is there a limit on number of gift cards that we can use online?

        • Not in practical terms, if you search this site you can find the record but it was around 100 from memory

  • Can you use it on a kitchen, I just need 5 cupboards and a bench top for a study nook? I read the T&Cs and its not clear, there sales often exclude kitchens, I know as I have put three in already and never find a deal

    • It just excludes food items and services. Everything else should be included?

      • dang! I only wanted meatballs

  • Thanks

  • Hey OP, thank you - planning on picking up $1k of stuff tomorrow. Stacked with the 6% gift card - awesome. Thanks

  • Noob question, so can you stack all these offers? If so, how do you do it? Cheers!

    15% off Storewide Online & in-Store

6% off IKEA Gift Cards via Gift Card Exchange

20x EDR Points on IKEA Gift Cards @ Woolworths

    • +1

15% off and either of the other 2, but you cant stack 20x EDR and 6% off as you're buying the gift card from different sources.

Pretty sure the 15% off will be set into the system on the day. The gift cards are just the payment method, just pay with gift card at checkout.

      • Thanks! Please confirm if Gift Card Exchange + 15% checkout works tomorrow peeps!

        • It’s just a payment method so yes. If you’re going to buy the gift card ahead of time you can just buy the credits then convert later.

      • how to get 20X point if use IKEA gift card to shop online? I pretend to check out on IKEA website, no space to put the reward card number.

        • +1

          lolwut?

You get 20x EDR points from buying ikea gift card at woolies.

  • Spoke to online chat yesterday to see if they could honour the 15% off for purchases made in Nov-23. Said no. Called local IKEA yesterday, and they said no (they were completely fine with me buying everything again, and returning immediately with original receipts).

Saw comments in this thread that 15% gift card credits were being honoured via online chat, and decided to ask again. Was given 15% refund credit for all purchases made in last fortnight.

  • Looks like the real tip might be to buy before the 15% off storewide to ensure there is stock of what you want and then hit up online chat to get 15% refund credit.

Then you keep the credit for next time there is a 15% off and do it all again ahaha

  • Does anyone know If i order my click and collect now, and arrive before i get the email that the order is ready, will ikea let me pick up the items without paying a second time?

Their support is smashed atm and i cant get a hold of anyone :(

  • Hi, in their full terms and conditions - https://www.ikea.com/au/en/files/pdf/dd/11/dd110002/fy24-ike…
    5. Promotional Products: The Promotion will apply to IKEA home furniture or furnishing products purchase online, and products in our As-is market, excluding:
    (a) IKEA Gift cards;
    (b) IKEA services (such as picking, delivery, assembly, installation, takeback/recycling, planning
    and interior design services); or
    (c) IKEA Food products from Swedish Restaurant, Swedish Café, Bistro or Swedish Food Market.

Where did it say it's store wide 15%? I see only "IKEA home furniture or furnishing products purchase online" are on special- what exactly are home furniture or furnishing
products? Can I say IKEA is a furniture store so everything inside is furniture or furnishing products? …
e.g. is an air purifier or an apron "a furniture or furnishing product"?

    • The way I see it, promotional products apply to IKEA home furniture (in-store) or furnishing products purchase online (online orders from their website) excluding a) b) and c).

So it stands to say everything not on the exclusion is included.

  • Who's getting ready to make a purchase online in 30mins?
