When I buy pants, I buy men waist size 28-30. It seems like the men trunks starts at size 34… Does that mean they're too big for me?

  30” is 76.2cm so you will need order the small size (XS not being available), not medium.
  The trunks and briefs are very elastic, so it should be fine.
  My waist size is 32”/81.28cm and the small size fits perfectly.
  The size guide for trunks is:

  XS 72-79*
  S 80-85*
  M 86-92*
  L 93-99*
