added thanks
Whats the difference in the international version?
Edit: Seems to be UK Plug which requires an adapter based on reviews
the UK plug seems like 品.
Shishu
UK plug sucks cos it's so big and these things have round DC jacks rather than USB for power, but the price difference between these and the AU version makes it worthwhile having to use a UK to AU plug converter.
i used usb to 9v jacks from jaycar with these cameras and that worked.
Interesting.
I'm also interested.
I found DC jacks are more studier than micro USB on a different baby monitor I had. The USB version got bent easily and becomes loose
I bought 3 of these recently to replace my reolink E1s.
$40
I'm very happy with these, they have a 6 second recording directly to the cloud. No subscription required it seems. Load and buffers much faster than the reolink
I dont get it. 6s recording. What use is that. If somebody steals a parcel from your front door you cant see the footage as it would be overwritten. What am I missing here?
Perhaps they use it as a pet cam?
I think the point of it is that if you get an "event" triggered, with the free plan you can log in with your phone and view 6 seconds of the event to see what happened. If it's something significant you would then have to download the data directly from the canera (or its SD card or whatever) to see more. It's just a free preview.
oh ok, so its not 6s of continuous recording that just gets overwritten. Its 6s of footage during a triggered "event". Ok that makes sense. Wonder if you get 6s per event or just one event. Pretty good if its per event
@jastreb: Sorry for the late reply, it's 6 seconds for every movement detected and also records into SD card.
So if you move around for 2 mins, there going to be heaps of short 6 seconds of recording in the cloud. Which is great for what I want to use it for.
@AtomuKirin: How long does the 6s recording stay available on the cloud?
@co doonunda: No idea, I've had it for 4 days and it's got all saved still
Are these better than the reolink e1 zoom?
Atomu:
Can it be set to record at only moving objects without subscription? Can record at low resolution ie. not HD? Can it clear the SD card cache automatically to record continuously or you need to reformat the SD card memory frequently? Can it also record in the background without opening the apps all the time?
Any reccomendations for where best to get replacement cable? i.e. AU DC jack cable instead of using plug converter?
just cut the plug and replace with AU plug
There is no law againat it. Cut off as suggeated and pit this on instead https://www.jaycar.com.au/240v-line-mains-power-plug/p/PP400…
@jastreb: $4.5 plus the labour - may as well pay for the AU version
@jastreb: Please don't suggest this. You'll bypass the AC/DC power supply and supply 240V straight to the camera and fry it.
@ozziebargain: What are you talking about. I am suggesting he cut out the UK plug and replace it with an AU one. Down from the power plug it remans as it is
it's a typical dc power supply, ie power supply is mounted directly onto the euro plug
i have a couple of euro adapters so no problem, just needed a couple of $3 AC extensiosn from bunnings to reach the power points as the dc cables are only 3m long
btw you can't really modify dc cable due to voltage drop from wire sizing/length - ohms law
another option is to look through your stash of old dc power supplies - am i the only one that has a collection going? you need 9v and at least 0.6a - found one from an old tp link switch
just cut the plug and replace with AU plug
It is UK power adapter not a plug.
yea then just get a converter
Pls let me know if you find one, i need one as well
Jaycar sell one.
Consider the IMOU 4mp Ranger, 2 for 77 dollars, (i am running 8 IMOU cameras at home flawlessly for a year. I run a mix of indoor and outdoor 4 and 5mp.) We tried these basic ones but are pretty crap especially in the 2mp variety.

Thanks for the advice, but what's the downvote for? We're interested in TP-Link here…
fixed :)
hardware is irrelevant if the software is trash
if you ever bought a chinese phone you'd have already learnt this
ipcams are 100x worse
if you want reliability and something that works go with a reputable brand because with a generic brand you'll get an original broken firmware that's unlikely to ever be updated
Do IMOU have ONVIF compatibility?
The link you've shared appears to be for 1080 Full HD. The TP Link C210 is 2K though.
Great price. Thanks. Bought one.
How do these compare to the IMOU ones that i've also purchased and not used
This one may have a higher chance of being used?
Not sure. I guess if its got nicer packaging it will look better on my shelf
I got 3 * TP-link Tapo C210 and 1 * IMOU 4MP Ranger under the scrypted in order to support Apple Homekit. IMOU camera always has a delay as It needs encoding. TP-Link never has any issue recording/capturing/notifying events in Apple Homekit. IMOU is less recommended in case you have Apple Ecosystem in your home. FYI, Both does not support Apple Homekit officially though.
My IMOU died after 6 months usage indoors, but if you are not using them it probably won't affect you
This isn't rechargeable battery is it? Can anyone recommend a cheap camera that has a rechargeable battery? Wanting to place one in the bike storage shed which has no power supply.
I have the Ring battery one at my front door. It is a fair bit more expensive but works pretty well
i used the tapo c200 with a power bank and a jaycar USB to 9v round jack converter
Nice. How long you find it lasts you on powerbank?
i used the 20ah romoss to power an led strip and the camera and a travel router.
after the kids 12hr sleep, id have about 40% left
(this was when we had scheduled power outages and tiny tots and we had to keep an eye on them at night)

Anyone tried ieGeek security cams? Youtube reviews seem alright for the money.
Also over 10,000 reviews 4.5 rating on Amazon US https://www.amazon.com/ieGeek-Wireless-Security-Rechargeable…
Wyze outdoor. Long Range, long battery life waterproof
Any limitations in software or having to pay more to watch clips back, cloud integration etc?
i have the c200
i use onvifer android app
i use qnap qvr pro
i use record to sd card on camera and homeassistant to sync the sd over to a folder on the nas
so many options
all the above. free
Why record to an SD card? You can just connect the camera directly to QVR Pro and record from there.
I could - but.
I use these as baby cams.
The camera has 2x 1080 streams and 2x potato resolution streams
So sometimes the wife and I both view a 1080 stream while we take turns trying to put the kids to sleep.
But we also want to record our interactions with them.
If we use QVR pro that consumes 1x 1080P stream, and stores things in its special format in a special place.
We could view with the QVR pro mobile app, but theres a noticeable delay between a kid making a run for his brothers room and the screen updating.
If we SD-record the that consumes zero streams. And HA can put it in normal folder, in a normal format, and i can do whatever i want to the normal file.
I wish i had done this when the kids were younger, but there was no patience to set up the required infrastructure.
@FoxJump: Ah fair enough
I have a Dahua Pro NVR that is backing up Event-based clips to an Oracle cloud computer instance for external cameras. C210 worked flawlessly with this NVR so now it's doing 24/7 recording on the NVR plus months worth of event (such as motion detection) backups to cloud.
Would you have a link detailing the synching of SD to NAS in HA? Have just started with HA and have x3 C210's I'd idealy like to record to my NAS but if I can trigger a copy then it should suffice.
https://community.home-assistant.io/t/custom-component-tapo-…
it's not a copy, it's a sync
you need something else to grab them off where you put them
also, the filename is fromdatestamp-todatestamp.mp4
but the datestamps are in seconds since epoch
mines are c200
For those in the Reolink ecosystem (and who don't mind refurbs).
Reolink E1 Pro is $38.99 on eBay using code TOPH22
Are these significantly better than the TP Link? They are just about $1 cheaper and they are not brand new.
Not better.
It's mostly just about if (like me) you already have Reolink cameras and want keep to the same software / app.
For example, the Reolink doorbell camera deals are always popular here.
How are these powered? Do they use standard USB plug or DC jack like TP Link?
@wildstone: DC jack and a 5V, 1A PSU.
@Prong: Just checked my C210 charger and it states Output is 9V 0.6A
Got this during last Amazon Day sales, for the price you pay it's very good
Agreed, I bought the AU version for my parents to use at their place as a security cam and it works perfectly, and the image quality is good. The C210 also supports RTSP so they can keep an eye on the feed via a tablet or PC. My only minor complain is that it uses a DC jack instead of USB plug, so it's more hassle to find an extension card if the included cord isn't long enough (if I remember right it's about 2 metres long)
How would I go about viewing my C210 on my PC?
Enable RTSP in your Tapo C210:
https://www.tp-link.com/us/support/faq/2680/
And then use an application of some sort to view the RTSP stream, e.g. VLC Media Player:
https://support.pelco.com/s/article/How-to-use-VLC-Media-Pla…
You can get VLC from here:
https://www.videolan.org/vlc/download-windows.html
@deadpoet: Oh that's fantastic! I can keep my camera running in a window while I use my PC.
Good price. I'm holding for upsized cashback (15% last time) I hope.
SD card recommendations?
Any of the Endurance series cards from Sandisk or Samsung if you're planning to do lots of recording, as these cards are designed for repeated sustained writes. If you'll be using it to record only when the camera detects an occasional event (i.e. motion/person/pet), then you might get away with using a regular SD card (e.g. Samsung EVO Plus). I'd still recommend getting something like a Samsung PRO Endurance card though, just to be safe.
Do I need an adapter if I buy this? I will appreciate any recommendation pls. I'm novice :-)
You can also try price matching with JB as I did. They did not price match as this is sold by Amazon UK. But gave me a price close enough for me to buy from them. Aussie version so no need of extra adapters.
Thank heaps fellas.
jb’s pricematching at $55 each
Hey mate, do you mind if I ask how much the deal at JB was?
47$ each
@bargain-lover007: Thanks mate. Got it for $44 from JB.
Can this stream to an Echo 8?
Also, if anyone wants to wait, C220 has lot of detection features that are free, and I think (not sure) those features are available in this but not in-camera. Need to subscribe to a plan (as the AI processing is done on server v in-camera in 220 I think)
I was overseas and grabbed a C220 from Malaysia during transit, wonder why it's only available at Good Guys when I checked now and so much more expensive then rest of the world.
C210 also has pretty much the same AI detection features free. The difference is that C220 have a physical LAN port + Wifi support. C210 only support Wifi (No LAN). Also C220 literally has 360° horizontal movement. C210 falls just short of a full 360.
You're wrong I think. No LAN port on C220 that I saw.
And lot more AI trigger alert free.
Comparison link
Updated: Guess there are differences in every country so can't say you're wrong fornsure but the C212 has LAN, maybe you've looked at the C212 specs instead of the C220?
Yes sorry I was referring to C212 by mistake. That is the new iteration.
Can this stream to Echo 8?
Yes it does to anyone looking to know.
Saw a video on YouTube promoting "Alexa show me the kid's room"
I have one of these for an indoor dog cam. It gets the job done but I would go with eufy for a proper security system. I use it through the unpaid cloud just for streaming
fyi ive had two of the c200 for four years
theyve fallen 2m a few times
still working!
i superglued a tripod screw hole to its base to make them easier to mount on little stands/tripods
Do these cameras support geofencing? I.e. arming or disarming the alarm based on the location of phones with the app?
My current Eufy cameras support geofencing which is a great feature, but I've found Eufy tends to fail to update correctly when you have multiple phones added to the geofencing.
I have to stop using tplink c200. It sends massive pings to its server every seconds after an upgrade and slow down my whole network.
It's ridiculous.
It does not make sense if you understand how the ping message is small. There MUST be another reason for the slow network.
Just check it out by yourself. https://community.tp-link.com/en/smart-home/forum/topic/5784…
They released a firmware update to fix the problem on May 31.
How do you know the camera is sending pings?
Because I have noticed massive DNS request to 'tplink'.
Good news! The team has released the official firmware for the frequent DNS Query issue for Tapo C200 1.0&2.0, you can update the firmware to the latest one via the Tapo app to solve the issue.
My current C210 has 1.3.7. I think it auto updated a while ago. Good to know they are fix bugs.
@Loopholio: 1.3.9 here
@CVonC: Same here. It automatically updated a few days ago. Dunno what was changed.
lmao, where comes the neg?
https://community.tp-link.com/en/smart-home/forum/topic/5784…
Quick search and find they released a firmware update to fix the problem on May 31.
Why neg things you are not familiar?
Price match with OW?
https://www.officeworks.com.au/shop/officeworks/p/tp-link-ta…
No, it’s an international model
Price in title , pls
