Thanks OP, is this the best 34 inch monitor for the price?

I'd avoid just because it's flat

Imo anything over 27" I'd go curved.

      • I have a flat 34" IPS and it's great, but with a VA it might potentially be an issue.

        • I have the IPS version of this and my wife has the VA version.

I struggle to see any performance difference between them, 34" is in my mind the absolute upper limit for flat screens. If you can afford it go curved.

      • i have this exact monitor but the IPS model (U34G3X) i believe, got it because it was IPS and skeptical cause it was flat, but it is a fantastic monitor especially for this price

Personal preference but I would rather flat 34" over curved..

I've been looking for a few months and honestly haven't found anything under $400 for 34 inch 1440p and high refresh rate. Depending on how far you'll be sitting from the monitor will determine if it's good or not, if you sit up close then you'll want the curve I have a 32 inch monitor with 1500r curve and it feels nice when sitting up close I forget it's a curved screen, definitely better viewing angles.

      • Do you think Aldi would have any more 34 inch for sale soon?

        • Not sure about Aldi but I found this deal to compare to.

I'd say more deals sub 400 for 34 inch monitors will come in the future but probably not common. There's often deals on 32 inch monitors on the eBay save codes if you want the 16:9 ratio. I got the MSI G32CQ4 E2 32" 170hz for $350.

      • Good deal and feedback on going curved for for larger ultra wides.

I prefer the look of a flat monitor and use an Ollin monitor single arm that allows a similar sized unit to be pushed back flat against the wall on a 80cm deep desk.

Brightness seems to be 300cd/m2 which may be a little average for some.

If you don't mind spending a bit more the Dell S3422DWG usually drops down to low $500's, it's a curved VA. I have a code that will bring it down to $515.61 if you're interested.

There's also the HP X34 that I was able to grab on sale 2 months ago from Harvey Norman for $596, it's a flat IPS and I really like it so far.

      • That sell definitely the best value if you’re looking for decent quality.
This deal’s AOC is good if someone only has that $ to spend
I got the LG 34wp65c-b few weeks ago for $470 after failing to find the Dell on special and wish I had just waited. It’s ok but my 60hz IPS ghosts less.

      • Don't suppose you still have a code for the 515 price? Looks like a solid monitor with a lot of positive reviews.

Sorry seems like it expired, doesn't accept it anymore in the cart.

VA Panels aren’t the best. I have one and the ghosting is definitely noticeable especially on darker colours

Yeah I went with an IPS monitor for this reason, I noticed most 34 inch panels are VA though. It's hard to find a good priced IPS wide monitor.

Sadly 34" 144Hz+ IPS Ultrawides are hard to find, a lot of them seem to be discontinued. I could only really find these models in stock:

      Flat HP X34 - $849 ($600 on sale)
      Flat Acer Nitro XV340CKP - $999 ($650 on sale)
      Curved LG 34GN850 - $1199 ($839 on sale)

      • MSI MAG 401QR 40" 155hz IPS can be had for $750 I might have to keep an eye out of sales on this.

So… you have THIS one or just another monitor that is VA? I can certainly agree VA can be excruciatingly bad, however the best ones are also particularly good.

  • Is this good for the PS5 or Xbox Series X?

    • +1

      big no

    • Terrible. Neither console has support for ultrawide screens. They can do either 1080P or 4K, nothing else.

      • Ahh yeah .. well that sucks. I guess the normal size monitor for me then.

        • Yeah my bad I assumed at least some games would support it and it's odd that it doesn't support 1440p. 32" 4k monitor with 120hz would probably be what you're looking for then.
