    🎵"00sixth generation…
Gonna bring tears to an old man's eyes"

  • So this would be good for general usage , household ? Reasonably future proof or limited self life ?
    Wi fi connection?

    • +1

It is enough for general usage. Not Wifi, but can connect with Ethernet port or a external USB WiFi receiver.

Dont buy from them, it's not worth the price. For this price, you can buy a 8th intel pc which is compatible with Win11

      • I’m confused because the listing has win11 in it but 6th gen Intel isn’t supported for win11? I feel like I’m missing something.

        • +3

You can install win 11 on almost anything. But you shouldn't.

        • +2

MS over the air update from win10 to win11 doesn’t support win11 on older than gen 8. you can download onto USB and do manual install but issues might be future patches as MS and vendors aren’t updating drivers as patches are released. manufactures don’t want to update drivers for machines they don’t sell anymore, and MS doesn’t want to test drivers and bundle in patches … gen 8 is the cut off for them. if you are just a home consumer and not tech hobbyist go gen 8 and MS will bundle you patches and updates for win11 and support them, if you like tinkering go gen 6 or gen 7 …..

Any reason that you are selling this almost double the price? https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/799697

    • This is the Micro…

Just to add, it's also an i7-6700T and 256GB SSD.

This is not worth $200. It does not support Windows 11, and the 6700 T series will struggle to run more than a couple browser tabs or MS Office. You are better off buying a 8th-9th gen i5/i7 PC instead for a small amount more. Also note Windows 10 EOL is less than a year now.

    • +7

i7-6700 T will do a lot more than run a couple browser tabs. I have done plenty more with i5-6500 in this OptiPlex.
That being said, 8th i5 is probably a better buy for similar price for legitimate Win 11 support.

      • at work we used run office and visio on 6th gen and 8gb ram, work fine. newer just gives you more speed, doesn’t limit ability to run office and apps.

You can still install windows 11 on this by removing appraiserres.dll in source folder of Windows 11 USB image. I installed windows 11 on HP Compaq Elite 8300 with i7 3770 and still run quite smoothly.

It does not support Windows 11

Use Rufus to bypass the Windows 11 checks and you're good to go. Updates, activation the whole lot are no issues.

      • +1

I use Rufus also, no issues on aging machines..

No offence, but I think you're being a bit elitist… I suspect this would be fine for a compact solution for cheap general use..

I'm still using an old Optiplex 9020, i7-4770, 16gb, 1050TI, on Win10, as my main PC, 2x 1440 monitors and a 4K TV, I always have 60 to 80 Chrome tabs open and numerous other applications, Outlook, Note,Excel, mapping apps, and such, all running perfect ALL THE TIME , and I do a bit of video editing also, no issues… Sure it's no powerhouse but it's certainly not a lame dog…

I haven't used one of these 7040's but I imagine it could be handy as a compact media player, download machine, or the likes…

(I also run Win 11 on an aging Surface 3 and a Surface GO without any issues)

As for this refurb company, I cant comment, I haven't purchased from them before tonight, I just purchased one of their other items, time will tell, hopefully they're more reliable than some of the other refurb sellers on here, lol…

      • Look, it's a fine CPU for very basic tasks or running a low power server etc. My point is there is no deal here, for the same price I bought a Dell Optiplex 3060 SFF with an i5-8400 that crushes the 6700t and will receive Windows support for many more years. Before that I had an i7 6700 non-t that was considerably slower. Facebook Marketplace is full of these older prebuilts with much better $/performance.

Although still usable but agree no deal here and comparable mini 12th Gen N100 brand new at lower price in Amazon

        Hi Flickit,

Thanks for sharing your experience. Dell 9020 desktop is a very popular model , stable and reliable. The next generation is Dell 7040, it is also popular and reliable.

We always trying our best to give our customers best value and service, you can always contact us if any issues with your buying. We believe we will be the seller that you can trust.

    • Absolute nonsense.

Comparison with other mini 12th Gen N100 which are popping around $180-$250 marks.

    • if you want a small footprint and just run office and browser these new small devices are great as you can run 24x7 as low power … use to have something similar on kitchen table, hit space bar it would wake up ready to go vs mid tower that was in other room for serious work …the market has changed as many people use their phones to access apps as first go to and a laptop or small desktop is actually their secondary device … content consumption vs content creation.

  • The HP version sold at ~$113 not long ago with similar specs
