FRENZY23

20% off the TCL 65" C845 with code 'FRENZY23' at The Good Guys.

Have been looking for a new sub-$2k 65" set to replace my 55" cheapie and these seem to be a pretty solid option. Not the lowest historical price but decent. Not sure yet if I'll grab one now or wait until Black Friday, but thought I'd share my first deal when I saw it!

This is roughly what some of us bought the 75" C835 last year on BF. Wonder if it will be the case this year :)

    • Wish I could fit a 75" in my living room! Have looked at saving a bit more and getting a 65" C835, but the C845 seems like a decent increase in quality.

    • +2

I certainly hope so, waiting for a stellar deal on the 75 or 85

      • Me too

      • +2

        What's a stellar deal in $ ?

If you can pull off wolfjay's move below (Appliances Online + Price Match + Instant Cash off + TCL cash back) I imagine the 85c845 could be had for $2750
by price matching Appliance Central's price of $3285 At Appliances Online with $300 instant cash off and TCL's $200 cash back

And likewise the 75c845 might get down to $2180 price matching Appliance Central's $2480 with AO's $200 instant cash back and TCL $100 cash back

        • Actually Good Guys have the 75inch for $2,895 less 20% frenzy code, brings it to $2,316. AO add the $55 delivery fee bring it to $2,371. The $200 off still came through for $2,171 final cost.

I pulled the trigger. Haven't told the missus yet though ;).

(Note I looked at appliance central which would have been cheaper if it had free delivery for me, but mine was $160 …1 suburb over was free)

          • @Belch: nice, it also looks like the TGG/JB have the 85C845 @ $3995 with the 20% this would come down around $3255 (assuming delivery is $59) $30 saving off my above calculations.

        • I tried the live chat with Appliance Central based on your post. Explicitly asked them if their "Instant Cash Off" would still apply with a Good Guys price match and they said yes. This was for the 65C845. So assuming it does work that would be $1446, pre the TCL cashback offer.

C845 was cheaper a couple of weeks ago

Using this one, it's a good TV :)

    • Good to hear! Just ordered one. Been using an especially average 55" I got from target for $200 a month into COVID, very excited for an upgrade ha.

Update — Appliances Online have $150 cash off which stacks with price match + delivery. Just purchased for $1521, also eligible for $100 cash back from TCL, which brings it down to $1421. Had some credit with Appliances Online so worked out well!

    • These guys are consistent with delivery too, great if you need delivered on a specific date

      • +3

Yeah have had great experiences with them before. Best delivery service on electronics / appliances I’ve had. Great communication as well. Glad I could buy from them

    • Did you have to price match online>?

      • Just message their web chat with a link to The Good Guys

    • hmmm, I was speaking with A O and they were saying the instant cashback is only on their full prices.
I was trying to get them to price match JBHIFI, then get the instant cashback, then the TCL cashback

      This is for the85C745 model

      • I didn't ask them about their instant cash back initially, just asked them to price match. Their "instant cash back" discount is added to the total cart price if an eligible item is in the cart, regardless of what it's priced at, so it just adds on once you go to check out. After I placed my order for the C845 price matched from The Good Guys and saw their $150 instant cash back applied I started a new web chat from a private window and asked if their instant cash back could be stacked with a price match, which they confirmed. Person you spoke with might have been confused.

When I checked, the terms and conditions of their instant cash back didn't say anything about not being able to be used in conjunction with any other offers, or that it only applies to full priced items.

        • i tired this and can confirm the price match code is overriding the instant cash back discount, not sure how you get both

        • Looking at the 85" C745 its $2895 at JB then $2316 after 20% off

unfortunately for me their cart shows the cashback price before their pricematch is applied rather than after
I've been talking to their live chat all day and they wont do the cashback after the pricematch.
Trying again with a different live chat agent

Update: after hours talking back and forth, a simple new chat with a client named Jacob gave me the price match quote which had this extra $250 cashback included in the discount code

          • @Dz93: I managed to get AO to pricematch Retra 85" C745 $2316.
The online chat setup a cart with coupon code down to $2066 (nicely add the $250 instant cash in the coupon code)

Depend who you get I think. Earlier in the morning tried to pricematch 98" but AO rep didn't add $500 instant cash. So ended up purchasing 85" for $2066 - $200 TCL cashback

            • @zubzero: That's the price that I got the 85C745 for as well, although mine is $2066 + $59 delivery.

My current dilemma which you may now realise you have too - is that to claim the $200 TCL cashback, you need the TV serial number, something that is unobtainable during the promotion period of October when they're back order is expected November/December.

I'm either going to cancel my order, get JB to price match appliance centrals $2285 price (then claim $200 from TCL) which is $40 cheaper and gives me the tv now

              Or

Hold my back order and see if prices drop over black friday sales, cancel and reorder and new price

              • @Dz93: Ah yes didn't see your update.

Where are you andnwhen is your scheduled delivery date ? Im in WA & AO is delivering the tv this Fri.

                https://www.tcl.com/au/en/cashback-offer-2023
Based on that link I think you only need to purchase by 31 October and then have 21 days to make the claim.

For me JB is the opposite the dont have stock for WA until 19 Dec.

    • The $500 instant cash off is a seperate appliances online offer which cannot be used in conjunction with a price match

      • I used the $150 off with the 65” fine, maybe they’ve changed that since

    • I tried price match with them, but need to include $55 delivery fee. Postcode was 3000, so I changed my mind

    • Thanks mate, I got the 75'' C845 for $2171 delivered from them (Price matched TGG delivered $2371-$200 cashback on AO), will have to get the tcl $100 cashback once here. Happy with it for $2071 our budget was 2k for a 75''.

This will also have $100 redemption through TCL

A very nice TV, black levels are very good, has reflective screen which isn’t an issue most of the time as the panel is very bright.

  • -1

    i prefer the extra-large-LED model

      • -1

regular is ok if you use it the right way

I picked up a FFalcon for $300 new at 55" long

works beeuuuuutifly (not smart but i dont need brains)

        • +1

Non-smart TV's definitely have a benefit for fast start up times. The Seiki 55" 4K set I'm currently using can boot up and show the dashboard of my Xbox Series S in between 5-10 seconds! And that's not using any fast start up / always on settings. Maybe the only good thing about it, haha.

          • @wolfjay: i found power usage is surprisingly low too

  • +1

What’s the OS of this TV like? I’ve got a cheapie 65” from Kogan this year and the android OS on it is so slow and glitchy. Would it be worth an upgrade?

    • connect it with an amazon stick or an android media player and you can spend the extra money on something else like blackjack

    • OS is Google TV, speed is good as per my experience. Takes almost 30 to 40 seconds to boot up from a cold start but afterwards it’s quite snappy. All the apps are quick to open and move between them.

      • My TCL C845 hasn't arrived yet, but I'm already looking up ways that I can optimise the start up time of the set. 30-40 seconds is a lot slower than my current not smart TV.

        • They have a quick start option..

Literally ready to go within 5 seconds of pressing power

          • @Megahowler: Oh beautiful, problem solvered

          • @Megahowler: That’s when the TV is on standby and not from the cold start as far as I know.

            • @buddysayshi: Yes… But there is no reason to have it turn on from a cold start..

              Standby uses 1-2w

              • @Megahowler: Not everyone has their TV’s on standby all the time. Most smart TV’s with lots of features still takes time to load up from cold start and that’s the reality nowadays.

                • @buddysayshi: They should… There is basically zero downside apart from miniscule cost

                  • @Megahowler: Still there is a cost. It all depends on an individual user whether they want to power off their TV or put it on standby mode.

                    • @buddysayshi: Just for shits and gigs I did the maths..
If you're paying 30c kwh it's a whopping $5.48 per year to leave it on standby

                      • @Megahowler: It’s also not advisable to have it on standby all the time.

                        • @buddysayshi: Completely false

But you do you and the rest of us will enjoy near instant boot up times

                          • @Megahowler: Are you an Expert? I am not going to discuss this anymore with you as this is not a debate. Do what you want and get on with your life rather than just arguing.

                            • +1

@buddysayshi: No expert.. just someone with a TCL TV (with quick start feature) and an understanding of simple maths

  • should i wait for black friday?

    • I will be, this tv has been cheaper a few times prior to this.

      • +2

US $ very high and AUS $ is low ATM. You may have to wait longer.
With the Cashback from TCL, I think it is a good buy.

        • Yeah, solid point, cash back makes it really ATM

  • Can anyone confirm how the TCL cash back offer works? Their website said its a Digital Visa Card. Can you just withdraw the $100 as cash at an atm?

  • I'm waiting for a great deal on the 65". All these ways to try and get some cash back, is a little too complicated for this old horse. I think I'll hold off to black Friday and hope to God that this gamble pays off. I'll be a little ticked off, if they don't drop the prices more, than they have now with the CF sales.

  • Just ordered the 65" today. $1995 - $399(CF) - $100(JB giftcard) - $100(TCL cashback) = $1,396 + delivery $59.

If you're also in the market for the $99 Telstra plan via JB, you can get another $1,000 JB gc which can go towards the TV purchase, making it just $355 total out of pocket.

Seems like a good deal. Well it's either a bargain or a lesson. Fingers crossed.
