Please see my horrible experience with the SONY Australia - Don't go near them, my email to Sony given below

    Hi

I'm writing this email with extreme stress and disappointment about Sony Australia.

    Short story,

Went buying a TV from the Sony Australia website last Thursday, and during the checkout, the application gave me an error asking to try again, I tried again, same issue, tried a few times as suggested by the website.

After trying a few times, I got another message to consider trying another payment option, so I thought it was the card, so I used my second card. That also failed.

So, I checked orders, no order was created, I gave up.

Laster, I checked my credit cards and realized, Sony charged me for failed orders 3 times from the first card and 1 time from the second time (each order was 2,515.50),

so I lost access to 10,062/- due to Sony technical issues leaving me with no credit capacity to pay my bills, today two bills dishonored (Gas & Electricity), tomorrow my health fund payment and so on.

I have to pay dishonored fees and might even affect my credit rating in the future due to the Sony failure to have a functioning website.

I tried contacting Sony on Thursday (19th Oct), but customer service was closed, so I contacted two credit card companies, they said, they can't do anything because I have authorized these transactions.

As you can understand, I had a sleepless night, following day at exactly 9 o’clock, I had a call to Sony customer support in the Philippines. I tried explaining the issue and the impact I have if this doesn’t resolve quickly. I do not believe they really understood my situation, they were like robots.

Person I spoke to, said he will escalate to Sony Australia and come back to me midday on last Friday,

Since I didn’t get any call from Sony, I gave another call in the afternoon, absolutely terrible customer service even after talking to the supervisor.

So, I gave a call to Sony Head Office in Sydney, this call was answered by a very nice person, she tried to reach out to multiple people without any success.

So, she took all my details and sent an email to relevant parties to contact me. Unfortunately, I didn't get any call from Sony Australia on that Friday.

So, I had to go though few more stressful nights,

Today (Monday 23rd Oct) I waited for the full morning session to pass expecting a call from Sony Australia.

Since I didn't get any call from Sony Australia, around 12.10 PM I dialed the same Sydney no and waited close to 1.00PM without any response. So, I hang out.

Then I tried again around 3.00 today and managed to get a thought. Explain the issue, this person also requested someone from the management to call me. Unfortunately, I didn’t get any call from Sony Australia yet.

Is this the expected customer service from Sony? How is Sony going to compensate for all the troubles I am going through without access to my credits? and stress and lack of sleep

I would appreciate it if someone from customer experience (from Australia) would give me a call.

    Unhappy Customer

Did you start chargebacks by your bank?

      • Bank is telling, since I have authorised these transactions, nothing they can do

        • Say there is no order and charges are caused by their IT systems glitch. And that they are not responding.

          • @nuker: Thank you for your support, I complained to Consumer affairs Victoria

            • @EagleLanded: Nope, press your bank first. Bank is required to open the case. Btw, its 80% probable that these authorization charges would not be cleared (confirmed by Sony) and will disappear from your statement in a week without a trace.

    • I had perfect experience with them, got a 75" x95k for $2600 delivered few days after order. No issues with DHL, the guys seemed great.

Think its just a case of good luck and bad luck. I was aware of risks with Sony store going into it so as long as you are prepared for possibilities of things going wrong.

they should not charge for failed orders, without any order they charged 10,062/-, this is not acceptable.

      • Think its just a case of good luck and bad luck.

My bet would be the guy did something weird with his computer. Either VPN or Tor or some dodgy browser extention. Something got blocked by stupid “security” in the middle of the transaction and it all went to hell.

People, delete all your browser extentions except Ublock Origin.
