    5 Star Tyre

Pretty niche product. Most cars have 4 wheels and they’re circle shaped, not 5 stars. Must be a bumpy ride.

So I’ve got this friend, who drew a bunch of dicks on his car one time when it was dusty. And now there’s scratched dongs all over his car.

What’s a good product to buff the cocks out?

      drew with a knife?

might need a cut and polish

Yeah he might need to polishes the knobs.

Chances are a hand compound are all you need if it's just surface scratches on the clear coat.

    • I'd probably try something gentle-ish first such as Meguiar's Ultimate Compound - use it with a random orbital polisher and pad.

Finish with the Meguiar's Wax - hand applied.

These are great products, easy to use and hard to screw up/cause further damage.

      • Thanks I’ll try that. I mean I’ll get my friend to try that…

        • A friend of a friend…. :p

  • 189 reviews! Wow never seen so many at sca…

  • Remember the good old pre covid days when 6 cans for $10.

pre covid this was at the dollar store. maybe $1.50 at most

This is literally the worst tyre shine on the market, better off rubbing canola oil on your tyres. I’d recommend 303 Aerospace protectant which is often on sale. It’s an actual UV protectant, nice deep satin finish, isn’t greasy and is long lasting. Can be on on any interior and exterior plastics and vinyl. This is literally all have been using on customers interiors for the past 15 years

You mean the one at $31.99?

      • The one that’s on sale for $25 at Autobarn. It will last as long as 10 cans of this stuff, as a little goes a very long way. That 5 Star junk will make tyres wear quicker from UV damage than not using anything at all. As I said, better to use canola oil if you just want a wet finish

What's the best way to apply the canola oil?

I love how the Ozbargain snobs jump in to shit over cheap products with alternatives that cost 10 times as much…

      • I tried baby oil (supposedly what the tyre guys use) and it lasted about 6 hours.

        • Haha.. good lube for fitting tyres..not so good for lasting shine. But.. still 5hrs more than you will get with this product!

    • I agree, this is just shite! Basically water.. Not worth 10 cents.
Stick to the usual $2 ish (blue can) …Well it was when I bought it last (5 cans for $10).
I'll go baby oil instead of this one (by far)

      • blue can (aus export) no longer exists

Now go home and get your shine box

He had this great technique where he'd slide the tyres so thin that they'd liquify in the pan with just a little oil

  • I think some of the cheap ones may damage tyres

  • I hate this stuff tbh. Car dealers use this to make cars look shiny. It tends to flick up the side of the car when it rains and attracts dust all over the tyres.

  • i wonder what car detailers, car wash and tyre places use? they seem to use a brush from a bucket to apply shiny stuff on the wheels.

  • Perfect to shine your fellow motorcyclist tyres!
