This is my first submission so please be nice :-)

I purchased this TV online over the weekend for my son to play video games on and thought it was worth sharing as it is an affordable second TV. It is not full HD but for the price I still think it is a good deal. The shipping is free and it took two business days to arrive (I am in Brisbane).

  • They usually exclude Soniq from haggling on price.

But when i got mine a few months back, I reminded them that they had this or similar unit with a built in DVD player for $199

They where happy to match it at that price. Saving of $30 is still better than a kick in the ass

  • If you are not in rush (can wait till end of October) you can purchase the Kogan branded one currently selling for $199 (+ $19.95 shipping) because it is LED and has built in PVR
However its scheduled to be shipped on 25th October

    • Can anyone who HAS a Kogan LED TV advise on picture quality please.

    • I considered this but as the TV won't be connected to an antenna socket I couldn't see the point in the PVR function. I also needed the TV sooner as it is a birthday gift.

    • None in stock anywhere near me unfortunately. No shipping available either. That deal definately wasn't available when I purchased the Soniq.

    • The DSE reviewers sound keen.

    Dinosaur- bin it.

  • I bought one a while back. No headphone jack annoyed me. Sold it.

    • There's no line out either, not for video or audio.

However for a bedroom or kids-room set, it's hard to beat. We're happy with the picture on ours, it's the best I've seen on a budget TV by a large margin. If it lasts 4 or 5 years it will have been worth it. (we paid $199)

Energy use is 352KWh which isn't so bad. Sure it could be lower, but the difference between this and the lowest usage televisions on the market wouldn't add up to $25 a year. (whereas the purchase price is considerably different)

But after the great big new carbon tax has tightened its python grip, that will amount to $250 a year difference … surely?
