Anyone got any good hang tv services recommendations in Victoria?

    • How big is the TV? I was pretty hesitant about doing it myself, but it's super easy. If you're able-bodied I suggest just tackling it yourself. You mount the bracket on the wall, add the "hooks" to the TV, then simply hook the TV onto the mount

You need to decide on the height obviously but then use spirit level to ensure its level and mark out the line.

You then need to drill through walls. If it's brick then you need to land enough drills in the brick itself and not the mortar. If it's a cavity then you need to find the studs.

        There's a fair bit involved.

        • exactly. I was able to do my one, but there is no way my wife would be able to do it. Not everyone can do this kind of work. This is why Airtasker and the like exist.

it's pretty rare to drill into bricks mate. unless you are mounting in the alfresco or your house is double-bricked, half the challenge is finding a suitable stud to tap into. You are making it sound like rocket-science when @iMagoo is trying to support @richmond12

          • @ExtraSalt: It's not rare at all, not for older builds. They all still used brick for internal partitions. Newer builds, sensibly, just throw up drywall coz it's cheap.

Its great they want to provide constructive encouragement but the reality is that there are people who just don't have the care or patience to do these things. If those people attempt it they may end up making a mess and pay someone else to fix it. It's upto them to judge, I'm just presenting an alternative constructive opinion.

All these are things that can be learnt from youtube and the like.

  • Recently bought a similar mount. Lesson I learnt is check your stud width first. Whoever put the walls up in our place didn't care much for standards and we had 820mm between at the centre of the wall.

    • Yes I recently got the $59 aldi TV mount and the mount was 380mm, did not reach from stud to stud. Got one from amazon for cheaper instead

  • Looking at the picture on the Aldi website, there is still quite a big gap from the back of the TV to the wall. Can anyone recommend a mount where there is barely any gap?

    • anything that doesn't extend. I prefer extending ones though because i have my powerboard and stuff mounted behind the TV

  • Isn't that first picture a swinging arm mount, which this product is not (judging by other pictures and the description)?

    • Also wondering if anyone can confirm this. I have a flush wall mount but would like to get one that I can pull out and pivot. If this can do that, it would be perfect. Cheers

  • Beware if mounting to studs
I recently bought the $59 aldi swivel TV mount and the mount itself was 380mm, which did not reach from stud to stud. Got a Mounting Dream TV Mount from amazon instead and would recommend.

  • I'm confused about which mount, its showing one that can pull out in picture 1, and in picture 2 and 3 its the fixed version ?

    • It's the fixed version. The swing version was $59.99.
