This previously popular Android tablet is back on sale and good value if you're after something smaller at 8.4". Compared to it's predecessor the iPlay 50 Mini this has a more powerful mid-range MediaTek Helio G99 CPU, RAM bumped up to 8GB from 4GB, fast 256GB UFS 2.2 storage and a larger 5000mAh battery. Plus there's a SIM card slot with 4G LTE for data/calls.

A good option for those who are after a smaller tablet under 10 inches on a budget. It's good for light-medium gaming/emulation, media consumption, general use, ebooks, Android Auto dashboard, Home Assistant dashboard and more.

The speaker on this is pretty poor, which limits its usefulness as a media consumption tablet.

    • lol,$120 what we expecting

      • $194.05 AUD

        • oops

  • What would you recommend as the best small tablet (8 inch or lower) available? Looking for one to replace a very old and sluggish Samsung 8 inch tablet.

What would you recommend as the best small tablet (8 inch or lower) available?

A phone. You won't get any tablet better than this smaller. Infact there's hardly any tablets smaller.

    • Alright I'm just gonna say it; the iPad mini is the only properly good tablet in that size category. It’s the only one I would ever recommend.

      • -1

Do you have one of these to compare with the iPad?

        • -2

I don't need one of these to know an Ipad is better, even a used one would beat this, simply because the price point at which the ipad sits.

          • -1

            @doobey1231:

            an Ipad is better,

But that is not what you said originally, is it?

…the iPad mini is the only properly good tablet in that size category.

@jackspratt: Yes, I can say both things matey. Don’t be intentionally obtuse, find a better hobby.

              • @doobey1231: So without any acknowledged experience of a Mini Pro, you are happy to blithely maintain that it is not a "properly good tablet".

That would indicate to me that it is you who is being obtuse, chum,

                • @jackspratt: I actually made no comments on this tablet, just that an ipad mini is better, point out where I am wrong.

                  • @doobey1231: At 4-5 times the price, it would want to be better.

But that does not make it the "only properly good tablet in that size category", just the most obscenely expensive.

                    • -1

@jackspratt: I never recommended a new ipad mini, nor did I suggest that because of the price. Had you asked properly you may have recieved proper reasoning as to why I believe a used ipad in this price range would be a better purchase, but you chose to be an obtuse ass about it, so you can keep believing the rhetoric you've made up for yourself. Lets be real, you never came in here asking for a discussion, you wanted an argument lol.

  • Is this comparable to a ipad mini 2021?

    • +1

I would buy a second hand iPad mini from 2021 over this, even if I was paying double, the quality jump is worth saving up the extra.

Bought this and the Blackview Tab 11 at the same time, I prefer this. For some reason the Blackview advertises fast charging but that never works and it doesnt charge with a usb C to C cable which is pretty annoying.

The cover that comes with this is pretty meh, doesnt stand up properly and just unravels with a little touch so definitely look for a better alternative. The keyboard that comes in the $$$ set is pretty decent

Just a heads up. Widevine L3 only.

Other than that.. for the price cannot fault. Much better than anything else this size you can get for the price range.

Unfortunately at this size.. best bet is iPad mini or legion y700 but both at a much dearer price range.

    • This this this.

Should be mandatory to include in the original post for any cheap tablet deal.

Without full Widevine support, you're watching pretty much all major streaming services in Standard Definition like it's 2005.

      • Tbh I'm surprised people even watch Netflix.

        • Are you surprised if people watch Disney+, Prime Video, Paramount+, and Google Play as well? They all use Widevine.

          • @b2dz: If the post doesn't mention Widevine L1 it doesn't have it. Assume that to always be the case.

        • It's not just netflix unfortunately….it's really the only downside of this tablet.. but only significant if tablet is purely being used for media consumption.

If being used as a general tablet, occasional media, play some basic games etc. for this price it's pretty unbeatable from what I have found. Expandable storage, 3.5mm jack.

Got this from @Clear earlier deal, is excellent in all regards. Not sure how folks can have gripes about anything with it, but then again some here do buy mid-market item for a budget price and then bemoan it not performing like an elite market one, go figure.

Build quality & performance is excellent, any issues will be incredibly minor e.g daggy boot screen, OEM plastic screen protector.

  • Does anyone know what the Wi-Fi connectivity is like on these? What sort of mbps you get in house?
