something once a year?
@capslock janitor: To be clear, I was referring to the taste not the deals.
It’s all in the vinegar used to mix in the rice.
Gosh I remember the salmon avo roll being $2.3 each about 15 years ago at Top Sushi in Brisbane CBD, havent bought sushi in so long I dont know what the current prices are!
These were $2 when I was a kid (I'm 24 lmao) now they're like $4.50
At first glance, I thought this deal was for “second hand rolls @ sushi sushi”…
Needless to say, I'm very disappointed that the assumed deal will not come to pass…
The voting thing seems a bit off - I just kept getting California vs Spicy Chicken…
What are the 6 most popular handrolls anyway?
Tuffy, Handee, Quilton, Viva, Kleenex, Tork. In that order…
I wish they all could be California rolls
That'll be the outcome of the vote, don't think a running tally has been shown.
I would just get sushi from Tokui Sushi
Same. Although Sushi Sushi does have some fillings that Tokui doesn't.
The top 6 have been released. I’d just go Tokui…
All sushi sushi now are primarily salmon. I have to go to fish market to buy tuna sashimi grade and make my own rolls and sushi.
Salmon isn't even traditionally used Japanese sushi. In the 70s Norwegian Salmon farmers introduced their fresh farmed salmon to Japan. Before then Salmon was seen as a shitty fish in Japan, usually dried rather than served fresh.
Why farmed to Japan if there is plenty up north? I'm from the East side of Russia and there is an abundance of wild caught salmon from Okhotsk sea and up north to Kamchatka. No one bothers about farming and salmon is about $5 /kg in season.
I dunno, the factoid based article I read years ago didn't go into that. Maybe Japan was very insular with regards to their fish markets and if fresh parasite free salmon were available before the Norwegians started farming them in the 60s and 70s maybe the Japanese just weren't interested in importing it.
@AustriaBargain: That explains it. A factoid is like a fact, but not a fact at all
How is this a deal? Are they really that expensive now?
Just had a look as I was typing this…. wow they’ve gone up to $4+ a roll!
Not as good as Sushi Hub but still ok.
Thanks OP.
