Most of the Celeron are under-powered, but not this one though. Do check the benchmark.
This one will work very fine with Chrome OS.
Fair. I haven't used a Celeron in over 5 years.
"celeron" is just a badge. The Celeron 300A was awesome!
This one benchmarks like a 2nd gen i5. Combined with 8GB and SSD, it will do the job of ChromeOS in 2023.
But "UHD"?? The lack of specs is worrying. I think this is Full-HD though, as the model code matched JB hifi:

A bit big & heavy for taking to school every day, but good at home.
The UHD is the name of the graphics processor, "Intel UHD", very confusing, but not related to the resolution haha
The Amazon listing is also filled with inaccurate specs, and the reviews seem to indicate that lots of folks didn't receive an AU spec power adaptor, despite this being the official ASUS store. Id steer clear even for a cheap kids laptop, this isnt a deal when you factor in the Celeron processor and abysmal TN screen.
My kid changed school so needs a Chromebook for 1yr, so is good enough for me. Bought it from JB-HiFi (price matched) so i didn't have the potential issue of getting a non-AU power supply. Could double up with gift cards if you wanted, but I couldn't be bothered looking into that ATM.
Don't know why anyone would get this over a refurbished i7-8550U / 8GB / 256GB NVMe delivered for less.
Because your elderly uncle asked you to buy him a cheap laptop for the internets, and you don't want to be on 24/7 call for tech support on Windows or Linux.
This is exactly why I'm looking at this!!!
I would never recommend a Celeron laptop regardless of OS.
