  • Better off investing something like backblaze or google drive that isn’t a single disk on site mechanism.
If you’re talking about “backing up” that is

This has it's use cases. Not all backups have to be in the cloud.

    • You don't use these as a single disk on site mechanism.

You buy as many as you need, to make an effective backup plan. Which means more than one…

Why would I need this when I have 30tbs of google drive?

    • So when Google nukes your account for "policy violation" with no recourse your 30TB of… stuff will remain accessible. Plus all the other circumstances where cloud services are unavailable or impractical.

    lol

    • A number of external drives stored offline in multiple locations is pretty much the definition of a 100% solid backup strategy 🤷🏼‍♂️

      • that's the irony 'external'

would much rather use an Ironwolf or Red Pro than some cheap drive in a plastic box

Hate to break it to you, but any of the super large capacity externals like this are using enterprise grade drives inside them, because they don't make cheap 16tb hard drives.
