Why do 128GB phones still exist?

    • +1

for most people is all that is needed and rest can be backed up online like photos and videos

    • +8

To sell more cloud storage of course.

    • +2

Somehow I'm only using 50% of my storage at the moment with my 128GB phone. Different people different needs.

    • +2

To utilise the free 30TB until 2090 🙈

  • To buy the watch from Google, they give you $100 credit. If the credit is useful for us, the watch effectively $449. If we are to seel the watch, surely not a lot of profit that we can make ? Best probably can sell it for $400?

    • +1

if you are planning to buy this and sell that's another ballgame but I wouldn't bother with the watch deal

  • +2

    is this phone unlocked?

    • +1

Yes, Pixel phones have never been carrier locked (Except the OG Pixel had a Verizon locked variant).

  • Can you pay extra to upgrade the phone's storage?

    • +4

      Yes.

      • +3

        25 second reply. Nice!

        • You have to pay 99$ for 256gb and if I remember correctly 199$ for 512gb

          • +1

@Depesh Khadka: $100 (some people got it for $99) from 128gb to 256gb
            $300 from 128gb to 512gb

            • @CodeXD: Sorry I only upgraded to 256 GB with 99$ so I wasn't sure about 512gb upgrade.

              • @Depesh Khadka: No worries, they just take the price difference between each phone (since this deal gives you $1699 voucher for the phone).

                Pixel 8 Pro 128gb $1,699
                Pixel 8 Pro 256gb $1,799
                Pixel 8 Pro 512gb $1,999

  • Just grabbed this deal in store.

Make sure you confirm with the customer service ref at HN that it's the $99 deal with pixel watch 2 included.

For $99/month must contain more than that…

    • can you confirm if your getting the LTE or BT version of the watch?
The linked T&C in the OP description is to the Optus website which is the LTE version, however HN dont' appear to list the LTE version

      • i can confirm it is the LTE + bluetooth version.
product code on my reciept is 11901308920. and "price" is $549.

Which matches up exactly with the listing HN have on their website.

        https://www.harveynorman.com.au/google-pixel-watch2-aluminiu…

        • thats interesting
549 is listed as BT only everywhere and 649 as LTE

          which is why i'm unsure

          • @zb c: Welp you can clarify with the rep when you drop in!

Or just score the $69 deal for just the phone, and cancel that one for $800. Still a solid deal

            • +1

@noicegarry: I ordered on satruday with the $69 offer already, and i even asked the guy about any watch deals.

I did see that some people have "upgraded" to this deal after already getting the original $69 one.

If it really is the LTE one, then worth doing

              • @zb c: Wouldn't hurt to ring up since this deal ends tomorrow.
Good luck with your hunt :)

        • i can confirm it is the LTE + bluetooth version.

What makes you think it is LTE when the HN listing does not mention LTE at all?

          • +1

@CodeXD: By the specifications page on the HN link when you scroll down.

Edit: HN does sell a version of the watch without LTE (if you search for it). But it is under a different product code.

            • @noicegarry: Thank you, I just did a ctrl+f on the description page for LTE and didn't find anything.

            • +1

@noicegarry: I called up and asked, they can't see anything that this is the LTE version
just based on the price, you can tell
LTE is 649 so, if your wanting LTE then this isn't it

try calling the store you got it from to confirm

              • @zb c: It says LTE in their specification as @noicegarry pointed out.

                • @CodeXD: Yeah I saw that, which is why I wanted to be 100% sure, the pricing against everyone else didnt line up. No way they are selling LTE for BT price day 1, unless specifying some offer for it

Told me on the phone its an error

                  • @zb c: No time to call in now as I'll be in classes for the whole day.

Thanks for the tip though as I've now gone and printed off a copy of their website explicitly showing that product code with LTE :)
It'll be a fun discussion if they try to change the deal when I go to pick it up!

                    • @noicegarry: Yeah, like they tell you its LTE and its only WiFi model, you basically got sold something they dont stock

interesting how they deal with it

if they had some special thing where optus provide the watch directly (they have LTE) then its a different story but I dont see anything like that

            • @noicegarry: One specifically saying Wi-Fi is gen 1, from last year

        • +1

That product code is for the WiFi only version. Check the JB Hi-Fi listing for the WiFi only version, it's the same code

          https://www.jbhifi.com.au/products/google-pixel-watch-2-wi-f…

          • @DK307: If that's an error with HV listing then I'll certainly try to twist some arms :D

            • +1

@noicegarry: 100%, see what you can get out of them

            • +2

@noicegarry: While I am rooting for you, they will probably just say "Oops, sorry" and then do nothing. Considering they aren't even selling the LTE version, I would potentially ask for an extra $100 gift card since the website mentions LTE and you are getting the WiFi version.

  • So if the deal ends tomorrow, does that mean we can only signup today ? Or can we signup tomorrow as well ?

    • +1

You can still sign up tomorrow. I called to confirm.

  • Can anyone tell me if you can register for this and change it to the standard $59 plan with Optus after its setup?

    • Of course you can, after you pay out the contact.

  • So I just called HN Alexandria to check whether the Watch is LTE or WIfi and they told me they dont have this deal, only the Phone LOL

    • The one in Broadway does if that's any help

  • +1

HN City West WA has this deal and I just got it. Thanks OP.

    • Was the watch LTE version?

      • Don't have it yet. I guess when I said "I just got it" I was being ambiguous. I just meant I availed of the deal, and will pick up when the devices are available.

I'm not expecting it to be LTE though. Deal seems fair enough on bluetooth, and I only need bluetooth.

  • +3

Called HV, can confirm that the watch they have in stock is only the WiFi BT version, not the LTE. Watch out if you think you're getting the LTE.

  • +2

nearest bloody HN is 3 hours away, never thought I'd regret that.

  • +1

    Shame, shouldve been the 256gb

Watch 2 doesnt seem that good esp with a lot of features locked behind a fitbit subscription

    • +1

Pay them an extra $100 upfront and they will change it to the 256

  • +2

$99 per month on a 24 month contract with bad reception. No deal bro.

  • Does anyone know how pick-up will work - do Harvey Norman contact you to confirm availability, or do you just need to rock up after the release date (tomorrow) and assume that it is first in best dressed?

Also, is the watch part of the pick-up, or is that via redemption?

    • You are too late my friend. The deal is over.

      • Thanks, though I ordered it in store yesterday before it expired.

The Harvey Norman staff weren't sure on the watch question I had and weren't sure when they'd get stock of it etc, so was hoping someone elsewhere had asked similar questions and gotten a firmer answer.

        • +1

When I signed up in store they told me they will call me and tell me when it's available for pick up.

Edit: they also told me they allocate on a first come first served, so they will set aside the phone/watch based on who signed up first.

    • +4

I rang and confirmed this deal is no longer happening :(

  • Just collected the bundle (upgraded to 256GB), thanks for the post OP!
