  • Literally just booked flights on Qantas three days ago. Any way to change the credit card used?

    • Cancel & rebook

      • +4

I’m expecting he would have booked sale flights, same like me and unless you mega rich no one would buy the most expensive seat because everyone trying to book the cheaper flight. If he did book the expensive seat that does come with free cancellation then he can get refund no problem and rebook but i doubt he did but yeah he can confirm

        • -3

          I thought it was a rather silly question, which deserved a silly reply. Why makes them think;
          A) You could change which card you paid with after you've paid.
          B) Why would anyone on here know what they've booked & how they paid, who they booked thru, etc?

    • Didn't they already charge you?

    • Yeah same so fken annoying 🤦‍♂️

      • Yep. Same flight still available for the same price too. Shame there’s a cancellation fee

        • you wouldn't believe it but long story short I booked a flight yesterday and it came up to $480 including CC fee. So i thought to get it up what could i buy extra to get me over $500 so i can get the $75 cashback from amex right.

So i opted for this carbon offset thingy, brought the total to $505 and thought cool. Went through processing and qantas charged the main ticket and this carbon offset thingy separately which is fken annoying coz technically i won't be eligible for the $75 off because i need to spend more than $500 in one transaction

          slaps face

          • @prankster: You may be fine. It says “in one or more transactions”, so fingers crossed 🤞

    • I recall watching a woman in a mattress shop complain she purchased the same mattress last month and it was more expensive. She asked what she should do.
The sales rep said "normal people stop shopping for mattresses after they have purchased"
      She agreed and walked out.

      • Cool story bro.

Don’t see how this is even remotely similar to my situation. I was randomly browsing on ozbargain, not purposely shopping for more flights. But hey you do you, you saw the need to make this comment.

  • -7

$200 for $30 credit is poor when previous offers were $150 for $15 credit

Also seems to be targeted as the Myer offer didn't show up on any of my cards

    • +14

      It’s way better. 15% instead of 10%

      • +1

Fair point. I just woke up when I made that comment and can't math

    • Targeted, I don’t have it either.

(Though 15% credit vs 10% is better I would say. Noticed other offers with decent credit percentages too, eg Kogan 20% back on $50 spend and Nespresso 15% back on $100.)

  • Didnt get myer on plat charge or plat reserve :(

    • Didn't get either on velocity escape

    • missed as well on plat charge

  • -5

Qantas Hotels for me is $150 back on $500.

$950 spend, less $400 Amex credit, less $150 cashback, less $50 voucher = $350. Bargain

    • +3

Can't combine Amex travel credit and this statement credit.

      • -5

You can. I did it in another card a few weeks ago. Always been the case.

        • +10

How do you combine an Amex travel credit, which requires booking through Amex travel, with a Qantas hotel credit, which requires booking through Qantas hotels? Which one do you even book through?

          • +1

@vetopower: Good point that! You can’t. I stand corrected and got too excited :)

But booking thru Amex travel you can do travel credit and cashback(Amex online travel $100 offer), as I said did that a few weeks ago

            • @Coops1: Can confirm that $100 cash back on min $500 spend Qantas Travel- flights inclusive of $450 travel credit is valid. Just got mine last week with the recent offer.

            • @Coops1:

              Always been the case.

              ouch

        • Which Amex card?

    • just did a few dummy bookings for some trips I have coming up and qantas hotels were ridiculously expnsive compared to agoda / booking.com, especially since I can often get 10%+ cashback on those websites.

      • -1

From limited experience, I’ve founded that qantas put up the price when these offers are on. Not just hotels, flights too. Sneaky!! Hopefully we can stake with $50 voucher to offset the inflated price.

    • I got $150 on $500 spend. Need to check the family supplementary cards.

Hopefully can pay over the phone using more than one card or may need to book singular stays.

      • Called Qantas hotels about splitting payment over 2+ cards. They stated that they can’t do split payments. Spewing.

Then looked at booking 3 individual consecutive nights. Though the hotel was just over $500 pn, the immediate charge to the card would be less than $500 pn, with the balance payable at the hotel. Sometimes you just can’t win.

  • +3

Got the Myer offer on my Velocity Escape and the supp but not on my Qantas Discovery.

Also have these across the Escape and Discovery cards:

    • Spend $120 or more and get $20 back @ Adore Beauty
    • Spend $400 or more and get $100 back @ MyCar Tyre & Auto
    • Spend $1000 or more and get $150 back @ Lotte Duty Free
    • Spend $100 or more and get $15 back @ Nespresso
    • Spend $500 or more and get $110 back @ FarFetch
    • Spend and get 20% back one time, up to $20 back @ Roses Only
    • Spend $120 or more, get 20% back @ Adidas
    • Spend $1000 or more and get $150 back @ Michael Hill
    • Spend $2000 or more, get $300 back @ Silversea
  • +3

Must book on Qantas website right?
I still have Amex travel credits that about to expired. But can't combine together with this discount.

    • Correct. Different things.

  • +1

4 day turn around, not much time with this one!

    • +2

      Very strange the 4 days.

      • +1

Explains the Daylight Savings offers With Amex

        • +3

I wonder if Western Australia and Queensland Amex cardholders get this offer considering they don't do daylight saving

  • +1

Reckon we can buy gift vouchers?

    • Want to know this as well

      • Anyone tried? I am tempted to buy a $200 Myer GC online. There's no Coles & Myer GC on their website.

        • I was thinking of Qantas.

Traditionally GC have been included in Amex cashback (even though t&c's say they're not).

    • It excludes gift cards, but doesn't say anything about vouchers. I'd risk it, worst case you pay full price for a voucher.

      • It always works (as you know it). It is really up to how far one needs to travel to visit a Myer store. I ignored frequent $10 cashback on $100 spend offers on the CBA card.

      • Does it work? thanks

        • +1

Coles Myer GCs in store worked as usual.

  • +6

On the bandwagon right now of not buying anything that has the name Qantas attached to it. Lolz. Will probably change my mind when the Chairman resigns.

    • +2

Yeah, Qantas, hard pass until Richard G has departed.

      • Only a matter of time hopefully, he looked pretty defeated at the senate inquiry yesterday

  • can I book for Qantas Hotel for next year's hotel then cancel it sometime later? after I get the credit

    • +1

Pretty sure credit is cancelled if booking cancelled

      • Yeah they might cancel the credit later on

        • Sometimes they might not

          • @excite: but for Qantas hotel, if I canalled my booking, do they refund Qantas credit or just refund to the card?

  • Is there any way to book two separate stays with Qantas Hotels on the one booking? I've got two nights I need to book on either side of other accommodation. Going through the booking process, there doesn't seem to be a concept of adding a stay to a "cart", so that I can add another stay.

    • +3

Just do two separate bookings? Terms and conditions don’t state that it needs to be done in one transaction

      • Hahah, well spotted, thanks!

  • +1

Legend OP, perfect timing to top up my depleting coles myer GCs

    • +1

Quick question, do you have to go in store to buy the coles gift cards at Myer? Thanks!

      • +1

Yes for the Coles Group & Myer GC. If you have this offer it is a great discount on them.

  • Myer is targeted - nothing here on 2 different amex accounts.

  • Beware of Amex catch, saved and redeemed Qantas hotels offer today but no email re credit received. Chatted with Amex rep who couldn’t see the offer is saved. Had to send them a screenshot. Then he advised the payment was made yesterday that was in my Amex account and he was right but I made the transaction today. Sent them a screenshot of Qantas invoice. Another rep takes over and asks for the docs upload again and advises me the date could be due to time zones.

    • +1

Yes, I have noticed the time difference may times when depositing funds directly into the card.

  • Are the Qantas ones targetted? I cant have them on my velocity escape (but i do get myer)

    • Lol yep definitely considering Virgin and Qantas are competitors

  • for Qantas Hotel, if I book and cancel, do I get Qantas Credit or refund into the card?

  • Just booked flight yesterday. Transaction still pending. Saved offer today. Do I still qualify for that?
How do u know u are the first 15000 to save the offer?

    • +1

No, you probably won't qualify since it's already showing on your account. You won't be able to save an offer once it runs out. It just won't show anymore.

    • Qantas now gives full refund without fee if flight booking is cancelled within 24 hours but it’d better give them a call.

  • Had none of them on my QANTAS Ultimate card

  • Which Amex card is good to sign up at the moment?

    • The one that suits your needs and circumstances.

  • +2

Has anyone purchased a Coles/myer giftcard in store and received the cashback confirmed email yet ?

    • The cashback redemption emails are hit and miss on being sent. Sometimes you won't get them but the credit will come through all the same. Coles Myer GCs have worked on Myer cashback offers for years though so I'd feel pretty confident on the cashback tracking even without the email.

    • I have done this many times in the past with these deals and received the credit.

    • +2

Yep. Activated this morning, went straight into my local Myers 30 mins later, bought a Coles Group gift card for $200, got the "thank you for redeeming" email about 30 mins after that.

    • I got confirmation emails for all $200 spends on my cards right away.

      • Offers turned "redeemed" already.

    • +1

Yep, got the email, next day the saved offer had gone to savings and the next day got the $30 credit. Emails for my three other spends came thru yesterday. Easy $120

      • +1

Yes, credits reflect today, but dated back to 29th.

        • Still waiting on my special.com.au credits for woolworths cards

  • Great

  • -1

    Damn, not on Velocity Amex

  • If I book through Qantas for hotels in NZ is that okay? Confused by deets ..’must have Australian phone number..’

    • +1

It's ok. I booked my hotels in South America and got the redeemed email.

  • Guys,

I find Qantas hotels not too bad vs. expedia or bookings.com - often the same rate.

I just book and make sure its refundable with the closer date to when I have booked. Then you can cancel and reuse the voucher on something else.

  • I’m getting nothing but little ‘Save $10 here and there’ on my Amex Platinum.

  • +1

Potential Compromised Myers/Coles Group gift card from Myer Sydney City:

Check that the security PIN has not been scratched if you have purchased Myer/Coles Group gift card from Myer Sydney City. Seems like someone has scratched off the security PIN for at least some of the cards there and could be attempting to drain the balance once the card is activated.

I purchased them over the long weekend and just noticed today that someone has lightly scratched the security PIN area, just enough to reveal the PIN but not enough to arise suspicion at time of purchase. Thankfully when I called in they told me the cards haven't been used, so they have suspended those cards and will send me new ones to my address and have alerted Myer about this also.
