Excellent price IMO - previous lowest was $1169.10
I think this much nicer than other touch laptops like Inspirons or Flex 5 which have dim 250 nit displays and worse build quality.

    1.39 kg!!!
Is it easy to carry and a good option for uni student?

    • At 1.39kg you could carry it with a single finger

Why do they keep making touchscreen laptops, where the digitiser ruins the OLED display quality?

    I hate it.

Good price, although worth noting that the processor is a renamed 5625U. Some might want to consider the Yoga 7 with very similar specs and a 7735U (which is more or less a renamed 6800u) for $1304 on the edu store.

The 7840U doesn't seem to be widely available yet, but the 7735HS at least has an RDNA2 iGPU.

    • Agree, Just earlier this month, there's the Yoga 7 for $1388 with AMD 7735u, 16GB DDR5, 1TB and OLED. 2 in 1 also. At that time it matched with the 16% cash back as well which brought it down to a similar price. You'll be expecting more Zen3+ to discount now as Zen4 will be arriving little by little. But for those who need a laptop now and prefer the Asus, still a good price.

  • noob here. so the only real disadvantages compare with intel laptop with thunderbolt 4 is that without TB4 we cant use external GPU ? thats it? i always think to have TB is better but not sure the long term effect, especially in the ability to use certain resolution with multiple monitors, charging wattage, etc

    • As long as it has USB4, you basically have Thunderbolt support. I have a Flow X13 2023 which has a USB4 port and eGPUs work perfectly.

      • i dont think i will need to run eGPU but i dont want to miss out on other TB4 feature.
hmm this asus is only usb 3.2 right? so i should skip then

Soldered memory will make this e-waste in a couple of years.

really? even for someone that is not playing games on this? mainly just playing media, office works (lots of excel, pdf) and lots of chrome tabs, etc. maybe light photo editings one day if i have time to learn lightroom,

16gb RAM will not suffice for opening lots of tabs and large excel spreadsheets. They utilise a lot of RAM. RAM is basically a back log of what your CPU needs to do but can't do quick enough for the internal cache to handle. After a few years your CPU will become outdated and will become more reliant on the RAM so it's a fatal flaw not to be able to upgrade it.

I'm not a fan of soldered memory either, but 16Gb should be good enough for quite a while, especially for basic use.

With how quickly the technology progresses, and how people always want new things nowadays, anything will become e-waste in a couple of years. 16gb is enough even for productive usage (such as Photoshop). especially since this only pairs with an R5-7530U.

  • How can you tell whether one of these laptops is a touchscreen model? I cannot find any information about a touchscreen on this page: https://www.asus.com/au/laptops/for-home/zenbook/zenbook-14-…

    • It's right there in the OP's description:

14.0-inch, 2.8K (2880 x 1800) OLED 16:10 aspect ratio, 0.2ms response time, 90Hz refresh rate, 400nits, 550nits HDR peak brightness, 100% DCI-P3 color gamut, 1,000,000:1, VESA CERTIFIED Display HDR True Black 500, 1.07 billion colors, PANTONE Validated, Glossy display, 70% less harmful blue light, SGS Eye Care Display, Touch screen, (Screen-to-body ratio) 90%, With stylus support
